Cello Lessons with Dr. Jordan Enzinger (jenzinge@gmail.com)

Dr. Jordan Enzinger has been a wonderful cello mentor to my son, guiding him since he was 9 years old all the way until he recently went to college. Dr. Enzinger boasts a Doctorate in Cello Performance, and is also a certified Suzuki instructor. He made sure that my son built a strong technical foundation, but his teaching extends beyond technical mastery and nurtures developing artistry, diligence, and a deep appreciation for music. Dr. Enzinger is patient, supportive, and he always managed to find the right pace for my son at every stage of his cello journey.

Through Dr. Enzinger's skillful guidance, my son has developed not only a firm technical prowess but also an expansive repertoire that spans from the Bach Suites to mature cello concertos by Lalo, Saint-Saëns, Tchaikovsky, Haydn, Elgar, and Dvorak.

Dr. Enzinger's influence has been particularly impactful in preparing my son for cello competitions. He made insightful recommendations for competitions that suited my son's skill level. He was adept in the selection of appropriate pieces for my son’s development at different stages, and was vigilant in tracking my son’s progress during each lesson—all of these aspects were invaluable to us. Thanks to Dr. Enzinger's dedicated coaching, my son has won top prizes in several state, national, and international level cello performance competitions, including the 1st place American Fine Arts Festival International Competition and the 2nd place in APEX International Music Competition. Dr. Enzinger also worked hard with my son to prepare for the NJ All-State Orchestra auditions. Under Dr. Enzinger’s guidance, my son was twice selected into the NJ All-State Orchestra. Dr. Enzinger’s lessons have also helped my son secure top spots in the NJ Youth Symphony, including the principal cellist position.

Moreover, Dr. Enzinger has graciously helped my son in preparing his music portfolio for his college application, which has just helped him enroll in a top 10 university in the US. He will continue playing cello in his university’s chamber orchestra and pursue a minor degree in music. We are immensely grateful for Dr. Enzinger's unwavering dedication, which has nurtured not only a skilled cellist but also a passionate and confident young musician.

I have been working with Dr. Enzinger for over nine years, and he is an incredible teacher and mentor. I’ve learned so much throughout my time, including vibrato, tuning, dynamics, and general cello techniques. All of these abilities has truly changed how I view music at large. I’ve even taken these techniques I’ve learned from Dr. Enzinger into other instruments, like guitar and vocals. To keep it short, I’ve truly loved my experience with Dr. Enzinger. He’s a great mentor and willing to slow down and follow whatever pace fits your style of play. I have been studying with Dr. Enzinger for four years and am now graduating high school to pursue a degree in music in college—he has been an immense help and I have greatly improved as a cellist and a musician during my time with him. Over the years he has helped me through college auditions, provided performance opportunities, and introduced me to several competitions, all of which performances I did well in thanks to his instruction. He is as patient and kind as he is knowledgeable and never once have I been made to feel bad about struggling or not understanding under his tutelage—he has always been there to gently offer explanation and advice. I would highly recommend him to cellists of any experience seeking a high level of instruction. He has been nothing but cheerful and supportive since the day I started lessons with him and is an excellent musician as well as an all-around lovely person!
