The trail itself is pretty if you like being submerged in the woods. Lots of trees and greenery with plentiful varieties of mushroom species all over the forest floor. There are outlooks over the cliffs that expose the pretty gray rock walls of the small canyon that is present here. Rainbows falls is down below, but as far as I know there is no possible way of getting down there from this trail and if you do so I cannot guarantee you will be able to get back up. People have been rescued trying to pull this stunt, so be wise on your decision. Enjoy your hike!

We have hiked this trail in the early spring (before leaves filled in) and in early August. We loved it both times. The portion that flanks the gorge is quite beautiful with steep drop offs and soft pine bed forest floor. The plants change throughout the hike, making it a great loop for nature lovers. On our recent visit we saw some amazing fungi (photos included - coral fungus and lobster musbroom). There are some old signs for the duration of the hike, identifying different plants and animals. We always enjoy learning a bit as we hike. This is an easy trail with no notable elevation change. The footing varies from gravel paths, dirt ground, to pine needle cover with lots of tree roots. One turn is not well marked, but if you familiarize yourself with a map before you leave, it should be obvious which way to go. There's a bit of mud, but never too much for us to walk around. Wear bug spray in the summer as there is a lot of standing water in the area. There are no facilities at the parking sites. There is a random seat/swing around the middle of the trail. The east entrance to the trail is a bit overgrown (as of our hike date in August), but you get through that portion very quickly, 100 feet or so. The photos I've added are from our August hike.

Beautiful views, never very busy. A good portion of the trail is wheelchair accessible leading to a gorge overlook. Usually some interesting wildlife to be seen. Nice little parking lot, but drive carefully, particularly in a low riding vehicle; the dirt road leading in is better than many but still has it's fair share of potholes and big rocks.

Free parking at entrance to trailhead. Trail is built up and graveled for a good distance, up to a nice lookout/viewing area, for handicap and stroller accessibility. There is a small swingset and a picnic table along the trail, perfect stop for lunch or with kids - if I remember correctly, this is past where the gravel trail ends. Regular foot trails continue through the woods and connect to other local trails in the Lewis County trail system.

Great trails. Once you get there one side is a bit close to the ridge of the gorge the other side has a ridge of trees between the trail and gorge, which is important if you are hiking with kids.

It was a beautiful and peaceful trail. Just be aware that the road there is a little rough, so taking a car can be a bit hard.

Easy half mile walk on gravel which splits off into a choice of 2 gorge trails with breathtaking scenery.

Lovely trail along the upper ridge of the gorge. First part of the trail is family and handicap friendly. Well marked. No amenities. Handicap parking available.
