As always this place is great. Always great service and ice cold beer! An oldi but a goodie!

Your classic hole in the wall but with a better variety of beers, several different taps and cans/bottles. They have a pool table and some slot machines, it's a nice hang.

Fun and inviting staff! Take your chance at tossing a dollar to the ceiling... If it sticks; it's supposed to bring you luck with lottery!

Karey and Don are staples of the Jacksonville community. Good day or bad, can’t go wrong with the Jville Tavern - you’ll always be in good company with them both!

It's a great local place. Very friendly and inviting. I am a local, and don't go often, but this is the only bar we take visitors. Always feel welcome and enjoy it.

It was my anniversary so we asked for a special drink , the bartender looked one up and made it! She was awesome!

This place has been the spot for beverages and conversation in Jacsonville since 1935. Pool, darts, and great beer selection. The staff is great...I wish they would bring backmlive music on Fridays, those were the days!

My favorite bar. Good atmosphere. Friendly people, good bartenders, video gaming machines, pool table and dart board. The only negative is the bar closes at midnight and sometimes the party is still hoppin when it's closing time.

That good ole feeling of the old days. Very old or antique looking atmosphere the people were really nice, Jacksonville always had been more of a tourist attraction to me. The shops are great and this bar serves strong drinks with a great bartender. The bathrooms were old and ran down but clean and they have poker machines in the back. Poker machines tone are on the trashy side and tend to attract the lower class but long as they don't affect me or my fun I have no complaints , great bar. Small but great .

the 2010 census, the city population was 2,785, up from 2,235 at the 2000 census.

History

Jacksonville was founded following discovery of gold deposits in 1851–1852. With the creation of Jackson County, it became the county seat, a role which was transferred to nearby Medford in 1927.

Jacksonville was home to the first Chinatown in Oregon, founded by immigrants from San Francisco. Physical evidence of this chapter of history was uncovered early in March 2004 when road work uncovered artifacts dating to the 1850s and 1860s. Construction was halted while archeologists performed four days of rescue excavations. Their findings included broken Chinese bowls and tea cups, handmade bottles, and fragments of opium paraphernalia and Chinese coins.

As the gold deposits were worked out in the 1860s and the railway bypassed Jacksonville in 1884, the city's economy slowed. This had the unintended benefit of preserving a number of structures, which led to Jacksonville's being designated a National Historic District in 1966, covering over 100 buildings. It was cited as a "mid-19th century inland commercial city significant for its magnificent group of surviving unaltered commercial and residential buildings. The city was the principal financial center of southern Oregon until it was bypassed by the Oregon and California Railroad

Very cool classic saloon looking tavern. Not much has changed appearance wise in this tavern since it opened in 1940, other than upkeep so that it does not become run down. There have been subtle changes to keep the place looking cool and relevant. I've always had a good time every time I have visited the jville tavern. There is always a very diverse crowd hanging out here and always interesting people to talk to. They are known for live music and even celebrities pop in from time to time. If you are visiting Jacksonville and looking for some fun nightlife, this is the place to go.

Old school but still modern enough to draw a young crowd. Excellent staff. At times they're overwhelmed but be cool. You will get what you want. Strong drinks and good beer...

Fantastic little tavern!!! I was on a road trip through southern Oregon when a friend suggested we meet at this tavern. It was a really cool place, with nice people & the glasses were so frosty they almost stuck to my fingers. Taking it one step further, apparently the owner had a good day on the O. Lottery machine & bought a round for the house!!! Awesome place - definitely worth going out of your way if you need to.

If you're a " City Slicker" seeking a view of what it was like in the old West, this is the place to come.
A great old time Tavern with a great staff, cold beer and amazing weekend entertainment, this place is fantastic.
Bring some dollar bills and have one of the locals show you how to add to the dollar darts on the ceiling. The owners harvest the money and give it to a good cause every year.

Great place and fast service. Enjoyed the bar in a building that was built in the 1800"s, makes for a great atmosphere. The staff was friendly and made exceptional drinks.
