So glad to have a place like this in my city. The architecture of the actual theater is iconic and a thing of beauty. I also appreciate the effort that goes into special events.

Love the atmosphere of this classic theatre, it takes you back to a simpler time of movie magic! They have all kinds of different events, C. Thomas Howell was there on March 7th for the viewing of The Outsiders!

Very nice historic theatre that is right downtown! Great stop if visiting or to bring friends/family. They even have free parking. The entire experience felt very old school with modern upgrades and was very unique.

We LOVE to visit The Kentucky Theatre! Beautiful theatres and one of the only places you can see independent and foreign films! Highly suggest checking out a movie at this classic Kentucky theater!

This is the best place in Lexington. Sad? Go console yourself and see a film at TKT. Happy? Celebrate with a film at TKT. There’s no better atmosphere, history, or vibe than The Kentucky Theater. Staff is incredible, film selections are incredible - the whole place radiates excellence. If you haven’t been, go! And if you have been, keep going. (they also make the best popcorn in Kentucky)

This is a great venue, the seating is wonderful, not a bad seat in the house! The acoustics are great. It's an old theatre, but it's well maintained. I've seen several shows here and always been very pleased. The staff have always been friendly and helpful, the rest rooms clean. Don't hesitate if there is something or someone playing there that you would like to see. Highly recommended.

Hands down, the majestic Kentucky Theatre is the best movie theater in Lexington, with a friendly, movie-centric staff and a gorgeous, historic building. Opened in 1922, this movie palace was designed in the Adamesque neo-classical style, and features a 1100-seat auditorium with opulent detail in the cinema lobby and entryway. On special nights, patrons are treated to live accompaniment on the Wurlitzer organ. Now operated by the Friends of the Kentucky Theatre, the theater programming ranges from classic and blockbuster movies to first-run independent and foreign films. The State Theatre next door serves as a second screen, and features its own beautiful Atmospheric/Spanish-style auditorium. The State Theatre is accessible from the Kentucky Theatre's main lobby/concession area, and features over 800 seats.
Check out the Classic Movie Summer Series on Wednesday evenings, and watch their Facebook page and website for updates on special events and film festivals, like the Harry Dean Stanton Film Festival in July. This theater is a town treasure!

The Kentucky Theatre is an iconic landmark on Main Street in Lexington. Opening their doors on October 4, 1922 they have almost been in business 100 years. I love the building which is full of history and the experience of watching film here is awesome from the entrance lobby to the concessions, to the theaters themselves. Can’t wait to visit again soon!

We need more places like this. The kind of space that gives the city character. It always feels like a kind of home away from home for people like me that love to actually go to a theater to watch a movie.

What an incredible experience! I loved every minute. My favorite part was the gentleman playing the organ as we waited for the movie to start.

We have watched "It's a Wonderful Life" for decades but it was so much better last night on the big screen! We saw more details and heard more dialogue than watching it at home! ❤

I took my daughter to a show and it was one of the best experiences we've ever had. The staff was amazing and the architecture in the theater was amazing! It's not often you walk into a place that looks historical and one of the founding blocks of the community. I could see where this would be the Hub of the city back when it was first erected. I will be taking my family there again!

A local treasure we hope to have for many years to come! Is there any way to tune the right front speaker to diminish the static?

Amazing historic theater and venue space presenting one of a kind new releases of independent and local films, as well as a classic series that gives you a chance to see your old favorites on the big screen again! It's a beautiful space run by wonderful folks. Tickets are very reasonably priced as it's run by the nonprofit organization Friends of the Kentucky Theater! This place should be on everyone's Lexington bucket list, but if you're like me you'll quickly find yourself becoming a monthly patron. I can't even count the number of incredible films I've seen that I would've never known existed without the KY Theater!

This is such a gem in our community. We love coming here for the summer classics and try to come here whenever something fun pops up (and for Rocky Horror!)

Looking forward to a great fall!
