Housing Authority of the County of Kern

The two times I've applied here I've waited 3 months for them to take my case, okay that's not the problem but the first worker I had Darlenne she gave me too short a time to deliver everything required, for God's sake only two days 🤦‍♀ I couldn't do it and she denied my case I had to appeal more than twice until my case was completed and approved. The second time Julia was with me, a kind and patient girl who called me as many times as necessary until she obtained all my documents. I thank her very much for that.

One of the best resources for housing. They are the blessing in disguise. They saved my life and helped me get into my new place and now I don't have to live on the streets anymore. With my health conditions I would have not made it out there much longer. Thanks again housing authorities and also who are connected with Flood Ministries. You will always have a place in my heart.

Housing Authority of the County of Kern changed my life. I was homeless and disabled from a recent major brain tumor removal surgery(2016) and they got me into a special voucher program for the homeless that got me into an up to date studio. I was literally homeless with a half a skull. My own family put me out 1 month after having a big brain tumor removed. After a year on a special voucher I was eligible to transfer my voucher. I officially had section 8. It took 1 year. Some people having been waiting for years. I stayed in the studio 2 more years and met my fiance there. She too is a brain tumor survivor. We transferred on one voucher and now live in a nice 1 bedroom house. God bless H.A.C.K and it's staff.

I wish the housing authority would make the landlords who the rent is paid too. Make them make repairs. Cause once these owners got their rent. They dont care how you live. My owner ( Titan) owner Angie lied to me and all I wanted was my doors repaired. They collect $1300. Monthly and refuse to repair my doors that I have been asking since 2020 and here it is 2021. I even paid December 2020 twice because of Titans mistake but I paid it plus late fee. All I want is my doors fixed. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. Still not getting NO assistance. Front desk clerks need more trainig. I know much as they do maybe more. Today
.. Aug 2 2031 just left here last week and here I am again. Come up here responding to who ever frim Housing Authority and they have not a freaking what they doing. Where are the Real workers at.... Cause these ones still on quarantine time

Every housing authority has its pluses and minuses. Kern county offers many different housing programs that go beyond traditional section 8 or public housing. Majority of the staff work hard and are respectful. The downsides are the long waitlists, but that’s a federal funding issue. Payment standards could be improved to ensure disabled and elderly have access to safer areas of Bakersfield. Unfortunately it seems that able-bodied families consume most of the resources. I’m thankful to have a newly constructed apartment.

Paula Sanchez did a fantastic job for helping me fill out the forms for a situation for one of my tenants. Congratulations to her and representing her department extremely well.

I wish I would have gotten the correct spelling of the gentlemen I spoke with……I believe it was Geraldo I just want to say his ENERGY was beyond amazing and he was so incredibly helpful on answering questions and providing information………Nestor Espinosa is also great as well!

My experience was off the chain. 😃 They did everything thing they could to make sure I had a beautiful 🌹 safe place to live. Im very very pleased with everyone over at the Housing Authority of Kern County. Thanks 👍

Good I had no problem ,very helpful and they have patience with us that have no experience on computers and it takes alot for us to ask for help because people thinks we shouldn't be here if we don't have experience doing paper work ,I don't know her name but she help me and made me comfortable and I wasn't afraid thank you.

Been on the list for 3 years. They don't contact you when you've been selected you have to literally check your status constantly. Then when you do contact them it takes days for them to respond.

I came in today And I was helped very fast they helped me with all my needs and the ladies in the applications are very lovely and very helpful i recommend Angélica and Cristina very much and will help you for sure

It good I took all the paperwork I needed to bring them , I'm applying for section 8, with God's help I will get it, thank you God.

The two girls at the window were nice and helpful, they helped go over my app and even made a copy of my ID that i was missing thank you

It was very quick,just had to turn in a paper and cancel something. They take care of you very quick it's never crowded.

I Finally Got My Application and Apartment Approved Hallelujah Hallelujah Wow What A Surprising journey I have Made 2012 is when I submitted my Application I finally get accepted it's 2021

I had trouble with paper work and called I was told to speak with my social service worker, but instead I went there and was helped right away
