Beautiful historic place to visit...you will learn facts about the Mexican heritage in California...the beginning of this beautiful state and so on... whether you are visiting the State or you are a local resident give yourself the chance to enjoy this place...if you visit during the hot days of Summer bring light colored clothes because it can get hot and humid inside the museum-house and there's no AC...apart from that it is a quiet, beautiful, knowledgeable place to visit...

The Dominguez family may be the earliest family in Los Angeles.

In 1784, he was awarded by the King of Spain, including 75,000 acres throughout the Port of Los Angeles and Orange County. It is estimated that their family is still the biggest landlord in Greater Los Angeles until today.

Amazing family!!!

Went on a field trip with my son's 4th grade class. Such a beautiful peaceful place with a lot of history. The kids even participated in some activities that were done long ago. I was there to chaperone but had a great time. I think currently closed to public as we were the only school at this hidden gem. But they do have events like Rancho days coming up and I plan on taking my family.

Beautiful grounds surrounded by beautiful groves of trees that offer many unique spaces for a wedding, reception, or event. We were hired by a lovely couple to provide an "All You Can Drink" Beverage Station for their baby shower. Given that it was a very hot day, their guests were able to fill up on limitless beverages. The adobe provides a picture perfect backdrop for any event Highly recommended venue!

This place is a true local treasure, being the heart of the original Rancho San Pedro. Well worth a visit. Make sure to look at the old maps on the walls. It's also a great place for an event!

This place is beautiful. I went for their Día de los Muertos workshop. The presenter was very knowledgeable. I will be returning this year and I'm going to have to make an effort to go to the battle reenactments too.

We didn't know about this museum and grounds before. The rose garden is large and lovely. Needs some weeding however. The cactus garden in back of the homestead is amazing with many huge varieties. Our tour guide was very informative and took us through the entire house. Very historical narrative with gobs of artifacts and antiques.

I love this museum! So awesome to see how the southbay really started and how people lived at that time! I love walking through house and looking in detail at all the furniture, clothing and all the other things used in that time. It's fun to pretend you climbed in a time machine and visit all the wonderful historical items. I highly recommend a visit!

This is truly a hidden gem! First of all this place is beautiful. The museum is the first Spanish land grant in the state of California. The house itself is almost 200 years old! This place has the history of the south bay and the Dominguez family. Given that it is a non-profit (FREE) museum, I encourage you all to visit!

Favorite field trip by far! The staff there are so welcoming and helpful. We had two groups, fifth and fourth grade. One group went on a tour while the other group participated in activities. The tour itself was fantastic. It was educational. My students learned a lot about their city and how it’s changed over time. Due to all the scary movies they have seen, there was one room with dolls that scared them. But other than that, great tour. The activities were extraordinarily good! They “panned for gold” and they played Victorian era games. All in all, best field trip ever!

Went there on this particular Saturday for a reenactment of a small skirmish between the Mexican government and the United States government for California, it's a beautiful part of California rancho history the Dominguez family right next to the Carson family down the street from the Watson family little further down the street defunias banning family it's all part of the same ranchos we haven't had the del amo family over towards Torrance the Bixby family in Long Beach or rancho Los alamitos rancho the history of this area is absolutely wonderful but the Dominguez ranch is beautiful they have a beautiful original Adobe ranch house there and a beautiful museum inside check for hours of operation and tours but it is absolutely worth exploring and spending a nice little afternoon there maybe a little picnic beautiful!!!!!

Absolutely, hands-down, without a shadow of a doubt(!) a must-go and see historical site. The wealth of history is amazing, the site is well kept and easily accessible. Don't let the location fool you...this is a must visit if you want to understand Los Angeles.
