My favorite shop in Long Beach, and the best frittata I've ever had anywhere, ever. Seriously. The patio is cute AF.
I get a cold brew growler every week, and the ricotta jam toast is so good. All of the jams are made in house or locally.
The service is always flawless and kind, and they know many of their customers by name 🫶🏳‍⚧🏳‍🌈

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this charming café, and I must say, it left quite an impression. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere. Our friend from Dusseldorf, whose taste buds are undoubtedly refined, vouched for the quality of the pastries and coffee, and I couldn't agree more. Each sip of coffee was rich and satisfying, while the pastries were baked to perfection, boasting a delightful blend of flavors.

One aspect that particularly impressed me was the selection of breakfast and brunch dishes. It's not often you find a place that offers such a variety of fresh, light, and healthy options. Whether you're craving something savory or sweet, there's something on the menu to satisfy every palate.

The ambiance of the café is casual yet inviting, with indoor bar seating adding to the cozy atmosphere. However, the real gem lies in the outdoor patio, complete with heat lamps and sun shades. It's the perfect spot to enjoy your meal al fresco, no matter the weather.

What truly sets this establishment apart is its commitment to being a local favorite. Supporting a place run by such passionate individuals who consistently deliver exceptional food and service is a pleasure. Overall, I can confidently say that this café is a hidden gem worth discovering.

What a delightful find in Long Beach!

As a self-professed espresso snob, I’m always wary of coffee (especially my beloved espresso shots) from cafes that also focus on food as they’re two different disciplines—and places rarely do both well…

Wide Eyes Open Palms is an exception!

Their espresso is splendid, frittata flavourful and fresh, the guava jam is absolutely to die for, and the chocolate sea salt espresso cookie is bomb.

Prices are on the upper end and the cafe is small, but all is balanced by the lovely fare.

Enjoy!

Great experience. Had the Rosemary latte with the house-made almond-cashew milk. Also tried the lemon ricotta pie. Would come back again to try their other latte flavors and pastries. Wish I took more pictures!

We always look for local, small places for breakfast when we travel. Loved this place! The food was on point. We got the frittata and the biscuit sandwich. Super excited for a good cortada, and they delivered 🙌. Service was excellent, very friendly. Sat on the patio with our dog and were comfortable. Love their story, building from a farmer's market beginning, and LOVE their welcoming vibe 🏳‍🌈

We loved WEOP and wish we could've come back before our trip ended. My sister loved the lavendar latte, and we both still drool over the egg biscuit sandwich. You must also get the chocolate chip, espresso, sea salt cookie, it was delish!

I crave their house made nut milk, it's the perfect addition to any of their coffees. This morning, I tried the Pumpkin Turmeric Latte and the egg breakfast sandwich with goat cheese. I wish I had a photo but I devoured it. They can also make a refreshing michelda! The staff is so friendly and inviting this is a LB 4th Street must.

I see why this place is so highly rated. Not only is the atmosphere very warm and welcoming, but the staff is very knowledgeable and the kitchen workers know what they're doing! One of the most delicious vegan bowls I've ever had and the plain sweetened coffee was outstanding. Truly exceeded my expectations. This is a must visit café for anyone in Long Beach.

Stopped in here as we were waiting for our tow truck….the employee at the front counter was incredibly sweet and warm and welcomed us. I had the savory galleta with salad and an egg and my friend had the GF toast with eggs and a salad. Best GF bread I’ve ever tried. You can definitely tell that the food and coffee is fresh. Unfortunately we got rained out of the patio seating but it’s a cute spot. Highly recommend

This place is amazing! Pretty much everything on the menu is delicious. It would be awesome if they could have a bigger space, but even with outside seating the servers are very attentive.

The shakshuka was my favorite. Ask for that with bacon on the side!

This place is lovely and delicious! Best breakfast in Long Beach offering healthy options and super fresh ingredients! I was impressed by their customer service, the quality of their food, and the cleanliness of the restaurant. Everything we ordered tasted like a home cooked meal. Im not a fan of salad dressings and will typically opt out for fresh lemons, but their home made dressings was so delicious! Im glad I listened to their suggestion to try it after expressing my dislike for dressings. Shout out to Angie for giving us an awesome consumer experience and for sharing a bit about their mission. You and your team are knocking it out of the park! For anyone looking for a delicious bite, look no further!

(Grade A+) A constant A+, the chef is a magician, that's all I should say. Service and kind hosts just make you want to order more. Wow, food here is so good, got a lot more than I could eat because I was curious. The cocotte was so good, I had to go back the next morning and took 2 people with us. Excellent coffee, the strawberry bread pudding (yumm) and apricot scone, amazing! The Ricotta and Peach on awesome Toast, good thing is available every day. The second day there was a Biscuit and eggs special, I wish was available every day. There's a bit of a wait, but sooo worth it. You have to try it. I'm going there every time I'm in Long Beach.

Update: I don't really like breakfast how many times can you disguise eggs bacon and potato? WEOP is different, it's almost like I'm eating lunch. Got a little too much as usual, everything is so good can't decide. The only bad thing was that there was no bread pudding :-( again. Got the Fritatta, it was another great thing we got to try (I'll post the picture). Thanks Angie and Kat for the great food.
Update 9/2021: Haven't been there since the darn pandemic. Decided were going to try to go this weekend--well it's a drive from Pasadena to Long Beach just for breakfast, but I'm sure it's going to be worth it. I'm fasting today so I can enjoy tomorrow :-)

Went to WEOP after brunch today and was great! Got a dark chocolate oat milk latte and my friend got the matcha latte and a fig pastry. The pastry was flaky and delicious, and both drinks were delicious. Staff was super friendly! Sat outside and was able to enjoy Sunday morning.

The owner described how they source everything firm the farmers market. No Sysco deliveries and you can taste the difference. The frittata, the chia pudding, even the toast, were all so perfectly prepared and alive with flavor. Everyone working seemed to be invested and engaged. This restaurant is truly a gem for this neighborhood. Even if you’re simply looking for the best in craft coffee. I wish Wide Eyes Open was in my neighborhood every day, but alas I am eternally nomadic.

When I forgot to write my review a few days ago I was reminded when I found my biscuit sandwich in the fridge. I warmed it up and after I took that first bite I knew I had to write a review. That biscuit, after being warmed up in a microwave, was almost as good as it was when I had it fresh!! It was crunchy on the outside and soft inside. It has a kick of spice but it was perfect, as it made what could be a boring biscuit, so full of flavor that complemented the perfectly cooked egg. I enjoyed sipping my beautifully made espresso as I savored every bite of the biscuit sandwich. I did get to sample the frittata which I will order on my next visit. I wish there was more seating because it is a tiny shop but it is worth the visit.

Happy staff. The frittata is very good and the matcha honey drink. One of the best places around the area. It comes with a price. Highly recommended. I will come back.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Wide Eyes Open Palms, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The Frittata of the day was a delightful surprise, bursting with flavors and perfectly cooked. The bread was fresh and paired beautifully with the nectarine jam, creating a delightful blend of sweet and savory.

What truly stood out to me was the rosemary latte - a unique twist that I couldn't resist trying. It was a wonderful balance of flavors, not overly sweet, and the hint of rosemary added a refreshing touch.

And of course, the espresso was top-notch, a testament to the attention to detail and quality at this establishment. Even the side salad was a pleasant surprise, proving that every element of the meal was carefully crafted.

Wide Eyes Open Palms is undoubtedly a gem for those seeking a culinary adventure with a creative twist. I can't wait to return for another memorable dining experience.

UPDATE - still the best :) The gluten free financiers are so delish!

WOW Wide Eyes is something really special. The coffee is obviously very high quality and they have some house specials that will knock your socks off. Personally, I think it's the best coffee in the LA/OC area, which is saying a lot considering that LB in particular has several great spots. The food is the best, they do it up royal and in their own distinctive style whatever it is. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten free. House made no sugar added nut milk. It's a little pricey but in this case it is more than justified!

It’s not exaggerating to say this is the best brunch I’ve ever had. Exceptional quality to the locally sourced ingredients. The frittata blew me away.
