We went for the first time for a special evening event, “Night at the Railroad Museum”, and it was a blast! The staff are so kind and courteous, and all very hardworking people who clearly care a lot about rail history. Definitely worth a visit!

I loved visiting this small railroad museum. Admission is free. We spent about an hour exploring exciting info about the history of trains and engines. Friendly staff.

Great little museum with friendly staff and well-curated exhibits with useful and informative contextual info. The collection focuses on southern california. There’s a nice little brio set for little ones, and you can go into the locomotive and the caboose!

Plenty of train toys for kids to play with. Less stressful than Ikea. Glad we stopped by!

Great place to let your train lover climb aboard the open trains while the dogs play. Walk across the street for additional Railroad fun. The wonderful staff does decorate the trains for the holidays. Make sure to stop by for Halloween 🎃.

Really great little museum, staff was really nice and kids had fun. A+ we got FREE cookies and they got train whistle, calendar or bookmar for doing scavenger hunt games for kids. It was really awesome time with my kids. Definitely educational and highly Recommended 👍🏽 Check website for updated days & hours.

Tucked away in a residential neighborhood is the Lomita Railroad museum. This place was great for about an hour. There is a steam engine, caboose and small museum to explore. The museum, though small on square feet has quite a lot to look at. There is a coin operated (they provide the coins) model train and all sorts of interesting parts and pieces to see. Definitely recommend for your train loving kid (or adult)!

As a volunteer at LRM, I can only rate it 5 stars because it’s been one of the best experiences I have had in my life. The rest of the staff is extremely friendly- Alex is a great boss! Also, the educational value from volunteering is wonderful. I didn’t know much about trains beforehand, but the community has taught me so much. Training is thorough: I get to read historical documents, do tours, etc! Being a docent is rewarding, and getting to interact with guests is always enjoyable. Perfect opportunity for students or anyone who wants to expand their historical knowledge/speaking skills.

Such a fun little hidden gem. I drive by here all the time and never knew it was here. Lots of great historical memorabilia and an actual train engine you can climb into and check out.

It's such a nice spot. Super nice staff. Train cartoons playing on the TV near the ticket booth to keep the little ones happy. Quiet neighborhood street with only an occasional car. And the shady, fenced-in park across the street has 2 more trains and is as good place to have lunch. Our son was so excited to see the real version of steam trains he's been seeing in videos.
