DoubleTree by Hilton San Pedro - Port of Los Angeles

Even with the early morning protesting that woke us up a bit earlier than we planned, our Sun-Tue, Apr 28-30 experience was amazing because of the amazing friendly staff that work at this DoubleTree location! This was our second visit here, this time in room 231 and we had a great visit both times. Our room this time had a few flaws, including a door closer that made the door close too slowly and several marks on the walls and ceiling, but the housekeeping team made up for it by ensuring that the room was perfectly clean!

Great job DoubleTree team!!! Hopefully the ownership will reward you all with a fresh remodel and plenty of funds to cover all of your maintenance needs!

Don't let the reviews detract from this great hotel. I was really worried based on lots of recent reviews but here was our experience:

Common areas - immaculate

Restaurant - we had a great burger and chicken Caesar salad. Didn't eat breakfast but they have coffee to go ($4 for a 16oz cup) that was really tasty!

Room - comfy bed (a tad soft but we both slept over 8 hours), hot water could have hotter, dinky coffee maker didn't work well. Everything was SUPER clean, smelled wonderful, and the bathroom was great. Split AC unit worked like a champ and was whisper quiet.

Location - less than 2 miles to the world cruise center. Easy Lyft ride (note: the hotel offers a free shuttle but the first available time didn't line up with our boarding window). The hotel is LITERALLY on the marina so great views!

Staff - everyone was friendly, cookies at check-in were yummy, and morning housekeepers were pleasant.

Probably rates a 4.5 but I wouldn't dink them for those minor issues.

Would definitely stay again!

Excellent central location for LA fun/business activities. San Pedro is a cool little area with small town vibes, but big on local beers and seafood restaurants. This hotel is quiet, and handles problems well. The grounds and surrounding area is beautiful. We will be back to stay.

What a view! The marina is beautiful.
The restaurant is delicious. Chuck, our waiter, was funny and did a great job. Our room was pretty. The entire resort is very clean. Great place to visit and to stay.

The room are nice and everyone here is so friendly. I love the walking path around the marina and the atmosphere here, it's pretty peaceful and the beach is very close.

I live across the street from this hotel and it's been my go to hotel for a staycation. I'm not sure what these recent, negative reviews are talking about. Luckily I haven't heard those protesters in a while. They're usually pretty loud and I can hear them from my house but so far lately they've been silent thank God 🤫

Nice hotel in a great location. Marina views, able to get out and walk. It is pet friendly. Staff is always friendly and helpful.

I love the staff here. With my Hilton status I was able to get an upgrade AND a late check out. The location is perfect. Near the cruise port and a walk to the beach. 😎

A great place to stay. Walking around the marina is delightful. Listening to the halyards hitting masts is the very best way to wake up.

Great for a good nights rest. We flew in from KC and enjoyed all of the surrounding activities. I really enjoyed the hotel shuttle. We didn’t have to Uber everywhere as long as it was within 5 miles of the hotel. Super convenient for us. The only thing is that I wish they would add a water machine near the rooms. They had a vending machine that had bottled water but it was all sold out.

Best customer service at the front desk!! Also the food service was great!!! A huge a waiting for your tesm!

Emerson at the front counter showed the patience of a navy seal. The customer in front of me was upset that the hotel was sold out and he couldn't get his complimentary room upgrade of the marina view.. The customer cursed, yelled and disrespected Mr Emerson but he remained calm and respectful the entire time. I was ready to correct the customer; but I noticed Emerson didn't need my help. The staff was awesome.

Tips on this hotel

1-Diamond parking isn't free. It's $18 per day and if you don't pay your tire will be booted.

2-The bar and food was great.
3- make sure you secure your shuttle appointment; it fill up fast during cruise season
4- check in is 4pm. You can ask the front desk to lock up your bags, while you sightseeing

Lovely hotel, we stayed here the night before our cruise. The sunrise was majestic we booked a King room with a balcony . Something around the hotel could use some updates but overall we got a good nights rest. We also signed up for the shuttle to the Pier. Breakfast was fresh.

Love this hotel and the location right next to the marina is peaceful and has nice views. Plus the Hilton phone app is awesome! Got to pick my room ahead of time, self check in amd open my room all with the app. Very cool.

Second stay at the hotel. We were greeted like family on arrival ! Its so nice that the food is good (fish taco's Yum) so once you arrive you can just settle in after a travel day. Room was clean and comfortable. Shuttle Driver and trip to Ship was fun! Wish I had caught his name. Great place to start your vacation.

Beautiful location with the peaceful Marina outside, rooms were in perfect condition, they seem recently updated and larger than the average room, staff like Michelle were super friendly and welcoming, hotel lobby had life to it with a flow of people and others hanging around. Only could mention that the TV channels were limited. Would definitely stay again

Had a great stay here. Michelle at the front desk was very helpful and welcoming. We had a great room overlooking the marina. My only complaints are: the housekeeping missed our room one of the 3 days we were there. The right side elevator didn't seem to be working because I never saw it and it took a while sometimes with just one elevator in operation. The free coffee they have set up is shut down at 8am sharp. I think they should have it set up all day for guests.

Other than those things, this place is great and the value of the rooms for it's proximity to the water was excellent.

The gentlemen on the night shift was very pleasant and accommodating. Unfortunately I didn’t catch his name but he was sporting a good looking bow tie. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful too. We spent one night to catch the cruise ship the next morning. For weary travelers across the US getting to a hotel at 1 am, the staff was so nice which was a welcomed relief.
Hotel itself was clean, room was spacious
enough for 3 adults.
The shuttle the next morning to the cruise port was running on time and again, the staff was very pleasant and helpful.

Stayed here for 5 days. Very nice and cozy. Breakfast was great. Staff was awesome. Beach was close by for my walks. Gym was perfect for my morning workout 💪. What more can I ask.
