Grass Valley Games

I really like this place. As an autistic person, I appreciate their lack of harsh fluorescent lighting and lack of loud music that seem to be common with game stores. Everything is well organized, too, and staff are always willing to help you find what you need. I often come here to expand my dice collection, they have a beautiful selection of all kinds of dice, in sets and as singles. I wish the aisles were a tad wider, because it can be hard to navigate in a wheelchair, but I understand that the nature of such a store sometimes makes it hard to arrange things that way. Overall enjoy this little store and I also have to say- their hanging sign outside the door is THE most epic thing I have ever seen.

This is a very nicely equipped game store with a large play area in the back. The guy behind the counter was attentive. People were playing MTG in the back when I was in the store.

Shop atmosphere is is nice and relaxed. Plenty of different product choice. Even if they don't have what you want in store, there is a high probability they will order it for you. Owner will try as much as possible to get you what you are looking for. Great shop and great customer service. Want to rate it 7 stars

Truly an excellent game store! It has so many awesome hobbies to get into with lots of variety in terms of fun! Always has been my favorite nerd gift shop for all the unique board games.

BEST STORE IN TOWN! This store is so much fun to visit and has such a friendly environment. It has quickly become my favorite store in town for a couple reasons. The store has an amazing aesthetic. It is so much fun just walking around the store and seeing the huge collection of comics, games, miniatures, cards, and everything in between. And the staff is truly amazing. They are incredibly helpful and engaging and overall they are just some really nice people. Every time I enter the store I am greeted and I always end up having great conversations with the staff, often not even related to products but just genuine conversation. However if you are looking for answers to questions on products the staff is extremely knowledgeable about everything they sell. This store is so much fun to hang out in and play games with friends or just to stop by and pick up some comics. I think Grass Valley Games is a staple for our town and if you haven’t checked it out yet then you are missing out! Shoutout to Zak, you are the man! :)

One of the best game shops - not just locally but anywhere!

I have been to many, many game stores. More than I could count and Grass Valley Games is everything you wish a game store could be.

Unlike many games shops that are packed away in strip malls or down back alleys, Grass Valley Games has a prominent place in downtown. Complete with a fantastic sign that looks straight out of a fantasy town, a super cool giant D20, and an amazing storefront that's sure to charm you, it's nearly impossible to resist stopping into GV Games.

The first thing I noticed when stopping in is that that they have a fantastic stock of games. The store is by no means huge, so they can't have an endless selection of games, but they have a really wide assortment of games, most of which are not the usual big box store available ones. They also cover the gamut of genres, so whatever type of game you like to play they're sure to have a few options.

Despite a fairly small store, they manage to have a wide selection of games, comics, graphic novels, miniatures, cards, etc. All of this is possible because they have maximized the use of space and are extremely well organized. They even have a very welcoming play area towards the back, with tables where people can try out demo version of the games, which is just such a cool idea.

Lastly, the friendly and fun staff make the store feel really alive and entertaining. It's clear how much the staff love D&D, board games, trading cards, etc, and they're excited to help you find what you need. I don't get to Grass valley Much anymore, but anytime I'm there I'm sure to stop into Grass valley Games to pick up something new!

Great game store. SUPER helpful in finding games for my adult kids who are serious game players. I was able to give examples of what they have/like and the suggestions were spot on. I can't wait for them to open at Christmas so I can play too.

Absolutely amazing store! Staff are quite possibly some of the nicest people I've ever met, and are super willing to help you with any hobby questions you have.

My son and I had checked multiple stores, and this was the one we should have started with! Not only did they have what we were after, but the friendly clerk explained the shortage and helped us browse the other merchandise until we found the perfect fit for something for my husband, too. So kind, helpful, and a good selection of supplies. Love this store!

Very friendly & welcoming place. Nicely maintained & well organized. Educated service without talking down to you or overloading you with too much info. Good layout for gaming that doesn't inhibit retail shopping even in such a small space. Lots of events and tournaments. We look forward to getting to know this place & it's culture better. A nice place to for all ages. Best spot of its kind we have been to thus far. Definitely would recommend.

Great local game store. If your looking to shop local for board games and comics this is the place. Even has an area to play games.

I spend a large amount of time in this store so trust me when i say this is the perfect place to play games with friends or people you just met. its friendly, its a beautiful building, and the owner is very helpful and informative. there's also a very nice collection of old comics and new issues every Wednesday. this store has become my home away from home and i recommend it to anyone who wants a place to relax and enjoy a friendly environment.

This really is a great shop. I have been here many times and never had a bad experience.

Everything is well organized with lots of space. The staff is helpful and friendly. They have a lot of variety for their size. Comic bins are in the center behind a munchkin display. Also in the center are Warhammer, and WWII miniatures. Around the walls they have many board games and role-playing games such as; D&D, Ticket to Ride, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Catan, etc. By the counter are the cards and dice, all your MtG materials, Exploding Kittens. To the left is a nice display of chess sets.

There is often some game playing at the back tables.

What strikes me the most is that at the bottom of the bookshelves in the center are open games for customers to test out.

If you are looking for a serious game shop then this is it. It covers more than you find at a big department store with shelves and shelves of the same-old same-old, and they are eager to help you find what you want.

Best store in town! From comics, to cards, to games, odds are you'll find the perfect gift, or the perfect new hobby for yourself. Zak is a blessing to this community, and Grass Valley Games is the place I've been dreaming of since I was a little kid!

I go there all the time with my friends. They have the newest indie comics like Sleepless and Saga, as well as pretty wide selection of board games. The staff is really helpful and every night they have different events going on. Pretty much the best (maybe only) boardgame/comics place in the Grass Valley/Nevada City area.

I'm really into magic the gathering. Not only do they have tons of cards in stock (some really cool old cards as well) they have box sets. And all of them are a reasonable price. Definitely going back when I have some money saved up
