San Clemente DMV

Opens at 8am. Arrived at 7:50am with no appt. Probably 20-30 people ahead of me. 20 minute wait once they opened. 3 minute transaction and everyone was polite. Can’t ask for more than that!

I just had a very good experience applying for the Real Id at this DMV. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I had an appointment so the waiting time was definitely reduced. Earlier today, I passed the car knowledge test but failed on the motorcycle test online. The DMV staff here let me retake the motorcycle test right there. Thank you. By the way, this is was the only place within 59 miles of my home that had an available appointment within 3 days.

I drove here instead of my local DMV and this has to be the only DMV that I’ve ever left in a BETTER mood than when I got there! The waits are short, the lines move quickly and the staff actually smiles! Great experience every time I’ve come here.

Absolutely delighted with my experience at the DMV today! Azesus deserves special recognition for turning what could be a mundane visit into an incredibly efficient and pleasant one. His warm greeting and seamless assistance made my day exceptional and he went above and beyond to make my visit smooth. Kudos to Azesus for setting a high standard of customer service!

And so it was very fast they were courteous they were friendly they were informative going through the whole process of getting my license renewed and having to take a test all of it was easy computer was so much easier than those the old paper I was and out in 30 minutes

Mid afternoon. No appointment. Approx 10 mins in line. Explained my situation, took 5 mins to check paperwork and take eye test + 10 mins more for photo. Spoke with 4 diff people, everyone very nice and helpful. By far the best run DMV I've ever visited! Great job, thank you.

This is my second time visiting this particular DMV, and it is excellent as always! We moved here from Ohio, so our first visit consisted of 2 driving tests, 2 drivers licenses and a vehicle registration. We were only here 2 hours, from start to finish - this includes standing in line. We had both our young children with us, and the employees engaged them with smiles and offered them paper and pens to color on! They really worked hard to get us in and out as fast as possible. Obviously it is crowded, but I hear not nearly as crowded as other DMVS.

This DMV never disappoints. I've been here several times and everyone is always so helpful. They understand the process can be frustrating and they always have such a helpful and positive attitude.

This is a small and well organized DMV with amazing stuff! No long wait lines either. I went there twice with appointments.

For a DMV, this is the creme de la creme. It's a smaller office and very low key. I've had the usual DMV wait times, but that is tempered by the staff seeming a lot friendlier and happier here than other locations I visited. While the location is inconvenient for many people in Orange County and north San Diego County, that is made of for in the better experience here.

I took my driver's test here many moons ago and remember it being a fairly painless experience. My daughter continued the tradition and passed on the first go around (she got the right examiner apparently). Compared to other DMV locations, the test here is far less stressful, as it is mostly on residential streets and smaller arterial streets. No freeway driving, and no ridiculous amounts of traffic to create opportunities to fail the behind the wheel test.

To be real, saying this DMV is better than others is like saying a natural death is better than death by hanging. You can't change the stripes on a tiger...

One of the better DMVs. Worth the extra 30 min drive! Be sure to go before school lets out (teens flockin in for DL applications).

I went to DMV San Clemente on March 2023 because of its good reviews. I was not disappointed. Julie was the DMV employee who helped me. When I approached her window, she smiled and asked "What can I do for you? I said renew my driver's license and she said "Great! It will only take a few minutes." Julie had a good attitude. I found her exceptionally courteous, kind and pleasant. She treated me with great respect. I will never forget her and the great DMV experience she gave me.

After reading the reviews I thought I’d give this place a shot and I was not disappointed. I got to the DMV around 7:20 on Friday morning. Then everyone started migrating to form a line around 7:40. I was 5th in line and let me tell you they have the process down. They opened the doors 10 min before 8 and started walking down the line prepping everyone for what they needed for non appointment people. I was given a window and waited for my number to be called for maybe 2 min. The woman at the counter was extremely friendly and worked quickly. Great conversations with her and her cubicle coworker while everything was processed. Got my picture taken and was out in my car by 8:30. 100% will come back and recommend the San Clemente DMV.

It’s refreshing to see a DMV that has it all together.. Save hours on license renewals or Real ID. Just love this location.

Never thought I would be writing a 5 star review for the DMV, but here we are. I've had great experiences here, and the people who work here are genuinely helpful. Please be kind to them, this may be the only good DMV office in SoCal.

Amazing service, fast, efficient, a well harmonized team, in unity reflected out to the public they serve. I met Jocelyn, and I thank her for her smile, for making me feel welcomed. I had completed my needs within 15 minutes. I never had to sit down.
