UCI Student Health Center

One may think that since it's a schools health center that it won't be good. I found myself really appreciating and loving it. The appointments are fast and easy to make. I did some blood work and the results are notified in your portal. The doctor called me to prescribe medication and followed up with me as well.

I was in and out within 30 minutes for my appointment with no wait, which I was super appreciative of. I was given free covid testing kits with my prescription and again no wait. The pharmacist was very nice and went over how to take the medication. The only downside is they close early (5PM). If you're a student on campus or even off campus I highly suggest trying it out before you go else where.

Very friendly staff! Got my flu shot here and it was very fast. The environment is clean and well decorated for Christmas!

Some of the most caring doctors I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. It is sometimes difficult to get an appointment, but overall the doctor's and nurses provide wonderful care. The pharmacy has a lot of generic options that are cheaper than a large retail pharmacy.

the staff is very friendly and helpful. The wait time is also not long. The insurance department however is impatient.

The good:
•Easy to get to from campus.

•The price is unbeatable with GSHIP insurance.

•Several of the doctors are knowledgable and pay close attention to you and why you are there.

•The lab is the easiest lab to get work done at, period. Have you ever tried to get tests done at other, larger labs? It's awful, and usually a long wait time. Not here. Can usually be seen same day as the test is ordered from a UCI SHC physician.

•Getting an appointment outside of the academic year is easy.

•Free parking that usually isn't full.

The bad:
•Some of the physicians have a bad attitude, being either condescending or aloof.

•Trying to get a referral to see a specialist, even within the UC family (even Gottschalk!) is as hard as it can be. Trust nobody along the referral process. Check and double check that your referral has been faxed to the right phone number.

For the price, it's a great facility. But know its limitations.

Very average service. They know that the students will end up going there for saving time from commuting other places. During my chiropractic appointments 60% -90% time was killed by their same set of questions again and again, and this happened multiple times. after 25 min of Q&A they shamelessly say- as we don't have much time now, I'll show you how to exercise and self-treat yourself in 2 min!! --- What a nice treatment!!

Doctors are okay! But their service is not good!
While they know that the students will be charged when visiting an urgent care facility outside of the school, they don’t hold spots for quick visits! So if you have a cold or flu and want to see a doctor, you have to call before 9am, otherwise they won’t have time for you!
Their website is also not updated! While in the website says you will be charged if you cancel your appointment anytime within 24h of your appointment time, when you call they say you can cancel up to hour before your appointment!
