Thanks for 7 great years in our rental home. Every experience from initial sign-up to management service to move-out was handled professionally. There were times we needed emergency repairs during the weekend. Leonard Johnson was always a text away and responded within a reasonable time. Jackie and Nema in the office handled regular requests and were a pleasure to work with. We always kept our property in good shape and on move-out got our security back within a day. Couldn't ask for more.

My experience with Leonard Johnson at American Dream Real Estate was great. My wife and I along with our 2 boys lived in the same house for 8 years and he met all our needs as far as anything needing fixing. He’s very easy to talk to and was always prompt on repairs. I would definitely recommend American Dream. I would rent again from them!

American Dream Real Estate does it again! I have rented two properties through Leonard and American Dream, and I can tell you from my experience, they do good business and care about their customers. If you are looking for a home to rent or purchase in the Anacortes, WA area, I highly recommend you give them a call or stop by. By the way, Jackie the receptionist is also a pleasure to speak to. She is very personable and is always on top of her game! Whenever there was something that needed to be repaired in my rental, she was always there for me. So, if you are a property owner in search of a management company, American Dream is a great option!

We had a very good experience with American Dream during the three years we were in Anacortes. We rented an older "charming" house. Leonard was very quick to respond to any of the issues we had with the house. When we moved out in 2014, Leonard was very helpful during the move and returned our full deposit.

My wife and I rented a property managed by American Dream for three years. It was a great experience; Leonard and the team were fair and very responsive to any issues that came up. From a tenant perspective we endorse their services.

Rented from American Dream for about 10 years off and on from around age 18 to 28. ADR staff was always Great in person and Leonard is always just a text away. Easy to get a hold of, at my last rental they replaced both the heater and water heater when they were causing issues or at the end of their lifespan.

American Dream Real Estate offers excellence in rental management and real estate services. I worked with ADR for several years to manage my home as a rental property. They go above and beyond to work cooperatively with renters, while at the same time protect and represent the rights of property owners. Not once did I feel like my property was forgotten, or left unsecured. ADR truly looks after their customer! Easy to get a hold of for questions, or concerns. Always got immediate follow up. Fun to talk to, and truly wonderful people to know and be around. My property was left in excellent condition by the end of the renter's term, in large part because of the efforts put forth by Leonard and his property management team. Without hesitation, I highly recommend American Dream for any real estate or rental management services you need!

Leanord it was not easy to deal with but that is part of his job to be strict about his job, every single person that ask us who we was renting from say he isn't going to return your deposit, people tell us dont clean the place he isnt going to give you nothing back. We rent 2 years for him and he did return us are deposit what was corresponding us. Thank you for let us rent from you even if we didn't have a good credit, he believed in us.

We came here 4 years ago, we did not know anyone. Leonard was very good to us. We moved into a house in Anacortes and never had a problem
When something needs repairing, I call the office and they are very quick to send someone to fix the problem! Leonard helped us when we needed it. Its very much appreciated

American Dream was great to work with while I was renting from them. The hot water tank went out in the house I was in and they had someone there to replace it the same day. Great to work with and professional.

My first encounter with Leonard Johnson it was in my field of healthcare working with a client who’s under Leonard’s property management. When I first came into the clients home it was covered in ants and rats had infested and made home in the fridge the stove the furniture. The bathroom was rotting out and the threshold is breaking down. Finally after a year of trying to seek help for my client a bathroom floor was finally put in and the rats are gone. But you must know that my client lived with these conditions for 10 years! You can’t even turn on the oven to bake food without the whole house smelling like a rats body. My second encounter with Leonard was in was in my search for a home for my family with a clean rental history and a bit of a lower credit score We are working very hard on and being a full-time working family we applied for a rental at American Dream Leonard never communicated properly it took several phone calls text messages voicemails messages at the office to finally communicate with somebody that could of just told me we wouldn’t be a good fit or yes you can rent. I’ve lived in this town my entire life with family history before 1925 and have a good rapport with people and businesses. I haven’t heard very good things about Leonard as a Property manager. I only have one good friend that had something nice to say about Leonard and they were on the same page as me that the communication is poor and it’s not right to lead someone on in the rental process. Especially after excepting payment for app and credit fees! But at the end of the day my main concern is his negligence and loss of diligence in taking care of his clients and their properties. so I just wanted to leave this here because I think people should know. people should be aware so that their time isn’t wasted time is valuable and finding a rental these days can be tough but keep your head up! we found one you’ll find one everything always works out in the end. I wish the best for you Leonard I hope that you can learn to communicate better with people and respect their time like they respect yours. And care a little more for people who do rent under your care. God bless you

A very unprofessional company. We rented a home for almost a year and a half that American Dream was managing. The staff is not very polite, nor are they very honest. If you are able, avoid using American Dream in Anacortes. If you do have to work with them, however, make sure you get whatever promises they say in writing. Their word is not good unless it is in writing. Also, get a copy of every document you sign, especially your vacate notice at the end of your commitment, and keep a very good record of your paperwork. You may need to produce your own copies in case they lose theirs and claim that you did not actually turn in certain documents.

Here is what happened to my husband and I:

After a year of a perfect record of paying our rent early each month, my husband and I were ready to find and buy a home. American Dream told us that we were all set to pay month-to-month without worrying about signing a new lease. We were told this by multiple people on separate occasions, so we trusted them. The week after our lease was up and we were paying month-to-month, American Dream called, telling us that the owner wanted to know our intentions and that if we didn't sign a new lease, we would be asked to leave. This was a surprise to us! When I politely inquired as to why they didn't tell use that it was the owner's discretion with regards to the tenants paying month-to-month, the receptionist countered by asking me in a very spiteful tone of voice why my husband and I didn't use them as our realtor for our house hunt. No apologies and no explanations. She was spiteful toward us when we were the ones put in a rough place.

In addition to this, when we did submit our paperwork, letting them know our vacate date, they lost that "vacate notice" document that I had signed. If I hadn't called and asked for a copy, I wouldn't have known that they were unable to locate that document (which is very important - you lose your deposit if you don't submit that document by a certain date).

Lastly, we had to pay $200 for American Dream to pay someone to "deep clean" the house for the next tenants/owners. If my husband hadn't called American Dream on the last day of our lease, they would have forgotten to even schedule the cleaning (we wanted to be sure the next tenants/owners moved into a clean home). My husband was there when the cleaning professional was finishing up her work on the place. When my husband asked, she said that she was called that morning for the job (right after my husband had called American Dream) and that she would charge American Dream only $60. Because it was in our contract, though, we had $200 deducted from our deposit.

In the end, everything worked out. We were able to sign a new lease for only 4 months, which allowed us to find a home. Thanks to my gut instinct to check up on our vacate notice (which they had lost), I was able to go in and sign a new vacate notice the day before the deadline, and we got our deposit back. My goodness, it was a headache working with American Dream. My advice to you - Avoid working with American Dream if you can.

Some businesses deserve 0 out of 5 stars and this is one. I moved into an apartment in the middle of November and the heater wasn't working at all. I spent the next two weeks living off space heaters until it was fixed. That tells me they don't check to make sure the place their about to give someone is livable. I also had to pay for blinds out of my own pocket because the the biggest windows of the unit (front and back) did not have any. Never got any reduced rent for either. Also, had the dryer go out and called and reported it multiple times and still nothing was done about it up until I left 6 months later. They don't maintain the property and don't fix anything unless they have to it seems. They also took $200 out of my security deposit for a COVID sanitization, which isn't my responsibility to pay for. Then they tried to bribe me by saying if I give them a good review, they will get my security deposit to me faster than if I don't. The only plus I can really say is its cheap to rent for the area, but lack of quality is also a factor in that.
