Found this by accident! Awesome little trail system behind the Crossroads Colonies Shopping Center. Wheelchair friendly if your wheelchair has tires that can handle a little bit of loose dirt. The trail is predominantly made up of packed dirt/sand but it has a few spots where the sand has loosened up a little bit so your wheelchair may slide a little. If you are a walking person you won't have any problems but I would recommend wearing sturdy, closed-toed walking shoes (not flip-flops or sandals because the dirt will get trapped in your toes). There are 3 trails. If you take the longest trail all the way around it is about 1.9 miles; the second trail is 1.25 miles; and the third trail is .25 miles. There are covered concrete picnic tables throughout the area (no graffiti or trash either!). It looks like there used to be a small pond there but right now, 5/28/22 it was completely dried up. The signs say watch for snakes. We didn't see any snakes but we did happen upon a couple of rabbits and many beautiful birds. It's remarkably quiet and you feel like you are in a whole different world considering it's right behind a shopping center. It dips down into a ravine so it gives a feeling of being completely out of the city and into a little pocket of wilderness. It's nice for a little break in the middle of the day. ***PLEASE NOTE: PARKING IS A PROBLEM. There is absolutely nowhere to park where Google maps says the main entrance is. We drove around and noticed that there are a few different places to enter the trails so we wound up parking in the shopping center and entering just west of Charles Schwab on N. Campus Ave. (Kind of across the street from Bed Bath & Beyond). ***ANOTHER NOTE: Google maps says that the trails are only open on Sunday and Wednesday. We did not find that to be true. We went on a Saturday and they were open. There were no signs anywhere indicating the operating hours and no ropes/chains blocked off the entrances so I'm not sure why that online information is inaccurate.
I've included pictures (I was in a wheelchair so these are the best that I could get 😉). Have fun! ☮

Today was amazing weather, so I decided to check out upland trails. I haven’t actually done a trail by myself, but this trail was so amazing that I actually want to come back again. It was so breathtaking to see the water and all the plants that were around me, truly amazing. If you’re looking for a trail to do with your buddies or just by yourself then I would definitely recommend coming to Upland Trails.

Love this trail as it provides for a nice walk/run or bike ride. Big enough so you feel like you get a nice workout if you do the whole trail. Coyotes are frequently seen here so keep an eye on your small children's and pets.

Nice clean area to walk. My daughter, my dog and I had a great workout. But where is the water? There was a time I saw ducks and other animals. Other than that the view was okay.

Great place to take a stroll. Good for strollers. Took the kids for a nice stroll, they loved seeing the ducks and just overall enjoyed the walk. You can make it as long or short of a walk as youd like.

Very nice park that can make you forget that you are in a city surrounded by homes and businesses. Have seen a variety of birds and a few coyotes. The trails make a good spot for a walk or run. The outer loop is about 2 miles.

Nice choice to get an easy walk in before our next pick up was ready. Boo, no palm trees in Lansing, MI. We found parking behind the strip mall just East of the trailhead. PS, I'm really sorry about accidentally leaving a water bottle at the Chaffee Overlook. Please dispose it for me.

I travel for work so I get to see a lot of Southern California. I stop here every now and then to just relax and take in life. It's a great place to run walk or what ever you prefer. It's just a breath of fresh air

Great nature walk with ducks and beautiful white Egrets. Look out for Coyotes and Bobcats. I often play Pokemon Go as I walk these trails.
