Bella Villa Messina

Stayed September 2023 - I surprised my wife with a last minute trip to Healdsburg for her birthday and while we came for the all the wine and food that Sonoma County had to offer, Jerry at Bella Villa Messina was the best surprise.

Neither of us had been to wine country before so I relied on google reviews to pick a hotel. Superb reviews and being dog-friendly led me to Bella Villa Messina.

From the moment I confirmed my booking, Jerry was a joy to interact with. He was constantly focused on accommodating us and making the trip as enjoyable as possible - allowing our dog to stay with us (despite me booking the wrong room), guiding our selection of vineyards / restaurants to prioritize (and helping us get in despite no reservations), whipping up great breakfasts every morning and putting on a fantastic happy hour every night that ended up being the highlight of most days.

The rooms were exactly what we hoped for, charming but clean and well kept. The views were as advertised.

We loved Healdsburg and plan to come back soon, and will be staying with Jerry once again when we do. Sorry it took so long to write the review Jerry but look forward to hearing more stories in the future!

I have to say my wife and I lucked out when we booked with Jerry at Bella Villa Messina, it was the absolute finest stay I have had in a bed and breakfast ever. Jerry is the quintessential host, knows the wine region in that area quite well, and every recommendation he had for a wine tasting was superb. We were treated like royalty at Bella Villa messina, and when we mentioned his name at every wine tasting, we were treated like royalty there as well! If there were six stars available as a rating he would get that! We will definitely be repeat customers.

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here and could not have had a better time. Everything about the trip was superb. Jerry is a wonderful and welcoming host, and an excellent chef. We have stayed at many bed and breakfasts, and this one is our favorite for many reasons. These include the host, the scenic property and house, and the location. We will be back, and thanks again Jerry!

The host / owner is as friendly and as hospitable as they come. Our anniversary weekend in Sonoma was so much better with the company and local insight of Jerry and Ester. Morning breakfast and afternoon wine was relaxing, delicious & made for a pleasant stay. Way better than a hotel or Airbnb.

Beautiful villa with lovely views situated high on a hill yet close to everything. The house is beautiful, filled with interesting antiques from all over the world. The host, Jerry, made it feel comfortable and laid-back. He hosts a relaxed wine and cheese hour from 5:30-7:00 which was quite enjoyable. Jerry makes a killer breakfast, ask in advance if you want the hawaiian french toast which is delicious. He shares information on Healdsburg and offers ideas on exploring the town and is also willing to make reservations for restaurants and wineries. Take advantage of his knowledge. I highly recommend Bella Vila Messina. We will be back!

Jerry is the consummate host. When we got in Thursday night exhausted due to delayed flights,;we had missed our nephew's wedding rehearsal dinner; Jerry jumped on the phone, called his buddy Liz that owns the incredible Italian restaurant Baci, got us dinner reservations. We had an incredible meal (thank you Baci!😘). We slept so comfortably in our room both nights we stayed. Breakfast was such a pleasure! Jerry is a kind and loving host. Love his Westies too😊

From the breathtaking panoramic views to the breakfast and cocktail hours, everything about our stay was perfect!! Jerry is a wonderful host and does everything he can to ensure you have an amazing time in the Sonoma County wine country! Loved every minute!!

Jerry and Harold were amazing hosts as always! This was our second time staying at Bella Villa Messina and we will be back many more times. The rooms are immaculate and the view is breathtaking. Jerry is a great cook, providing a delicious full breakfast each morning! He is so helpful in suggesting the best wineries and destination stops for your trip, as well as mapping it out for you.

We visit Healdsburg quite often, but this was the first time we had stayed at the Bella Villa Messina. Our entire stay was FANTASTIC! When we arrived, we were met by our host, Jerry Messina. He showed us to our room (The French Room...most comfortable with a great 4-poster king bed), and then he took us on a tour of the property. A truly unique and special place. When Jerry says, "Make yourself at home", he really means it. We felt that way immediately! Next came Jerrys' Wine and Cheese hour, which happens every night. All the guests who participated connected, all we all got to know each other. Jerry gave us updates on what was happening in Healdsburg, dinner recommendations, and he regaled us with stories from his numerous years in the area. Maria and Rosalie, his 2 Westies, became everybody's best friends. The next morning...breakfast. Chef jerry makes the most delicious fare, and nobody leaves hungry. Overall, we can't wait to go back. For a truly enjoyable, comfortable, unique, and most memorable experience in Healdsburg, there is no place better than the Bella Villa Messina.

The Villa is seated on top of the tallest hill in Healdsburg, the view from our room was stunning, especially in the morning and at sunset. Just what we needed to get away from the dreary everyday of the pandemic. The breakfast reminded me of what my grandmother used to make the family when we would stay over for reunions, true comfort food. The proprietor Gerald Messina did all the planning during our stay, and his knowledge of the surrounding area is absolutely astounding. Due to his connections, he was able to get us tables at the best restaurants in Healdsburg, and he got us into exclusive wine tastings all around the Dry Creek Valley and Russian River. We will be returning for another stay in the summer, I highly recommend it to all my friends, every chance I get.

Every morning, you are greeted with an amazing breakfast, Jerry was there to help cook a delicious meal, but also gave fantastic recommendations for wineries to visit.

Next time we go back to wine country there is no doubt in my mind where we will be staying .

We knew the location was great. We expected the views would be beautiful and we assumed the breakfasts would be delicious. We proved prescient on all of these. What we couldn’t predict was that we would leave after 4 days feeling like we had been good friends of our host for our entire life! He’s a wealth of local knowledge (restaurants, bars, wineries, beaches and directions to all of them. He was with us at breakfast and his daily Happy Hours and was so engaging that every guest felt comfortable interacting with not only him, but with each other. Truly a fun experience and one we hope to enjoy again! Thanks, Jerry!

Where do I begin? Villa Bella Messina was PERFECT! From breakfest to happy hour. My husband and I are from Flordia. We always wanted to go to Sonoma Valley, I landed up reading about Healdsburg ( which is in Sonoma valley) and stumbled along about villa bella Messina. And wow I was so happy I picked this place. Jerry is the absolute best and makes you feel right at home. I wanted a local experience and that’s what I got. Jerry knows everyone, and gives the best suggestions. Also, he will give you a map and plan out where to go/ eat at as well. His doggies rosealee and Maria are so cute. His place is also on a hill and has the best views, and is about 5 minutes into town as well. It was the best vacation, and it’s to him and his bnb. Thanks again Jerry!

Another WONDERFUL time at Bella Villa Messina! Jerry and Harold make it an experience rather than just a place to crash. The breakfasts were all top notch and their knowledge of the area and advice on where to go and what to do was invaluable. The wine and cheese happy hour (5:30-7) is my favorite part of the stay. Jerry and Harold don't just lay out some wine and cheese and then hide. They join you and share their stories which are always entertaining. We have been to many bed and breakfasts, but have never had such warm and funny hosts. This was our 2nd time back, but it surely will not be the last. Do yourself a favor and book this experience...you will NOT be disappointed.

What a special place! Jerry Messina makes the experience so special. The ambiance and uniqueness of the house is awesome and the views are fantastic. Between the homemade breakfast and evening happy hour we never wanted to leave! Couldn't recommend this place more highly to anyone looking to get away.

Let me start by saying that Jerry is an AMAZING human being. We had the time of our lives staying at Villa Bella Messina. Jerry is an amazing cook, and his breakfast spreads are absolutely to die for. The home and property are maintained beautifully with a lot of love and care.

You will leave more than satisfied post your stay at Villa Bella Messina. I can only offer you a recommendation by saying that Jerry and his Villa get a 12 out of 10 stars rating from me for everything on offer there. The sunrise experience is just out of the world.

Wonderful stay with one of the greatest hosts in wine country. This eclectic B+B has great views, great breakfast, and even a historic swimming pool.
