Fish viewing facility

One of the best kept secrets in redding lol

This was a surprise find for me as I was riding around the Sacramento River Trail. There is a kind of dam across the river as it drops several feet and the water flows through it. On the side are openings for fish, specifically the salmon, to swim through. I believe that they call this a "salmon ladder". There is a structure at the viewing area that allows you walk down several feet below the surface level of the river. Windows are installed so that you can view the fish. It's pretty cool but hard see through. You can walk down steps to the fish viewing area or there is a wheelchair ramp on the side opposite of the stairs.

They need to clean. But after 2 yrs. Hopefully the fish come back.

I'm sure it's fun when the fish are running.

The one time we went, and it was open was really cool, but it's been closed every other time for the last two years.

The glass really needs cleaned, can't see any of the salmon. The whole facility is being neglected. It's sad to see it like this :(
