This is a great history museum very close to the art museum. Set on multiple floors it covers a lot of Colorado history from the Native American tribes through to the Dust Bowl and mining. It's a very big space and is quite spread out so I can imagine absorbs visitors quite well. It was $15 entry which I think is pretty good value considering the size of the museum and breadth of exhibits.
One of the best exhibits was based around 100 objects and was a really interesting way to travel through Colorado history from a more human perspective. On the lower level, the exhibit on the 10th Mountain in WW2 was very good too, much bigger than I expected! Don't miss the Dust Bowl video presentation- it uses audio and visuals really well to give you an idea what a dust storm was really like and the impact it had on the people living through it.
There's a cafe and gift shop and restrooms on every floor which is very handy. I will say, the staff were all very friendly too!

My parents and I visited the History Colorado Center in March 2023 and had an enjoyable time. While we were there, there was a naturalization ceremony occurring in the main atrium which was special to witness as this museum celebrates one of the great states of the United States of America. I appreciated the museums commitment to honoring all voices of Colorado and not just those of white people. You could see throughout the exhibits the many diverse stories that make up the state's history. I also enjoyed learning a bit more about Denver's history from a small town to booming metropolitan area. This museum is definitely a must visit while in town to learn more about the great state of Colorado!

Great museum we spent 5 and a half hours here the only thing I didn’t like was the future Native American exhibition. It looked like something from a video game release as someone who loves museums this exhibition definitely did not belong and was just confusing. Other than that it was a great learning experience. I am from Florida and didn’t know much about colorado at all. Now I feel like I know a great deal of the local history some of it very dark and disturbing.

Haven't really spent much time inside since its opening quite some years and was amazed with the depth and breadth of the information presented and the interactive format here. Not only history buffs would certainly enjoy their time here, the unassuming visitors would also find this place entertaining while learning a whole bunch about Colorado. Great destination for the whole family. Highly recommended.

This History Center is full of Colorado history. The museum was much larger than we anticipated. Unfortunately, we didn't allot enough time to be able to see everything. This is a must visit place and plan to be there for at least half a day.

Parking is somewhat hard to find. There are metered parking spaces on the street and paid parking lots and decks around the area.

While I haven't actually spent much time inside since it first opened quite a few years ago, I was blown away by the breadth and richness of the material that was displayed, as well as the interactive approach that was used here. At the same time as history aficionados would undoubtedly take pleasure in their time spent here, even the most unsuspecting tourists would find this location to be interesting while also gaining a great deal of knowledge about Colorado. What a wonderful place to visit with the entire family! Strongly suggested for use.

I loved this museum. A variety of exhibits. All very interesting and educational. Visited on a weekday and arrived at opening time so it was not at all crowded. Thus, I never felt rushed and could study each exhibit's description placard. If you enjoy history, you have got to visit this museum.

Had a great experience setting up a small group tour for our company here! Loved learning more about the history of LGBTQ+ folks in Colorado from our tour guide Soleil (sp?) from the Rainbows & Revolutions exhibit (see if before it's gone next week!!) and also checked out a bit of the other exhibits. Lunch at the cafe was tasty but took a while to come out, so just beware if you're in a hurry!

Was really excited to see the Ute community exhibition. So many amazing examples of indigenous peoples craft and tool making. Really appreciated the balance of both historic and contemporary indigenous people's creations. This is a lovely and thorough museum to visit. Lots of great exhibits and crucial information about indigenous peoples, Chicano / Mexican-American people and history overall.

One of our favorite museums in the country. Great for anyone wanting to connect more with history of Colorado. Fantastic exhibits. I've gone as a teacher and taken many field trips which museum always do an incredible job making it engaging for kids. I've also gone just by myself and always leave learning something new. Plan to spend 2-3 hours but you could probably spend all day here if you visit every exhibit.

During my school trip, I had the opportunity to explore the Colorado History Museum, and I must admit, it was an extraordinary experience! The museum truly excelled in presenting the captivating history of Colorado in a captivating and interactive manner. The exhibits were meticulously curated and provided valuable information, making it an ideal destination for individuals of all ages. The staff members were not only welcoming but also well-informed, contributing to the overall positive impression. Without a doubt, I would rate it with five stars and enthusiastically suggest it to anyone eager to delve deeper into the intriguing history of Colorado!

Really appreciate the Winter Warriors 10th Mountain Division section on the lower level - very well done displays in English and Spanish (was fun for bilingual practice!) with a good mix of pieces, write-ups, occasional videos, etc. Interesting insights both for the war history buffs and also fascinating from the perspective of mountaineering and how the war helped drive innovation that helps in that field today. I'm not a huge museum fan overall but am big into mountain climbing and had visiting family who are really into military history so this was the perfect match for a display that had elements to interest everyone.
