Very professional and cares about your pets.. my Lilly girl was very vocal while with me but they knew once she was out of my sight she was sweet as could be.... when she passed away they were compassionate to me in my loss.. I now have 2 new babies I am taking in to them for they're care.. I know that they will provide the best for my new fur kiddos

Excellent veterinary office. Over the years, Dr. Lisa Ankerstjerne and Dr. James Yoshimoto have done a fabulous job caring for my family's 3 dogs, 5 cats, and 2 bearded dragons. As long as I live in Lacey, I will come back again and again to HPVH for their superb quality and compassion.

I've been bringing generations of my pets here for their primary care for many years and have always received great care for my four (and three!) legged friends.

In Thurston county we are lucky to have not only a few exemplary primary care veterinarians like HP but also world class specialists in oncology. So while one of my ancient hounds eventually graduated to Olympia Veterinary Specialists in Oncology I am more than happy to bring my pets to Hawks Prairie Veterinary for the usual pokes.

Short version: Overall I would recommend Hawks Prairie Veterinary Hospital to a friend, will continue to go there myself, and thank them for being so kind, flexible, and for taking such wonderful care of my beloved furry family members.

Long version: I've been going to HPVH a long time. They recently helped me out of a sticky of a situation I got myself into when inheriting a cat this summer. Nobody else could get me help for months, but because I was an established client, they were able to swing it. It wasn't a small thing either, and I'm forever grateful. I've been to other clinics and they all have their pro's and cons. This is just my experience, and as employees come and go, it will continue to change. Every once in a while the front desk would be short with me or unclear, and there once was a veterinarian who was a little too woo-woo for me, but is gone now. I don't take it personal - I suspect it can be a difficult job sometimes having to deal with clients who are demanding or are in distress. Lately everyone has been awesome. HPVH has a bit of a corporate feel, and it is a little expensive, but the cost of running a business has gone up, so I'm not surprised. I take my dad's cat to a small clinic near his house, and it's about the same price. They will cancel your appt if you are more than 10 minutes late. I've had to violate this before (my cat wasn't cooperating), and I appreciate that they don't drop you as a client when this happens. Currently, when I schedule an appointment, they can usually get me in between 1-2 weeks. If it is an emergency, they have been able to get me in earlier. I don't have one vet I see regularly and am fine with whomever is available. If I had a cat with special medical needs, I'd probably stick with one. I'd prefer to have separate cat/dog entrances and waiting areas, but that's not how this place was designed. Thankfully we never have to be in the lobby very long, and there aren't many other folks waiting. The veterinarians and techs have always been kind and I feel they really care about our pets, their health and comfort. One of the things I like about this clinic is that they seem to have access to more advanced services. I've been able to have nearly all of our tests, scans, and procedures done there. Sometimes when I'm in a jam, they are able to schedule me one of those appointments where you don't see the vet - but your pet does. They take my cat in the back room where the veterinarian examines her, then sends her back out to me when done. This is because they are required to remain in a certain area (during a procedure? recovery? I don't remember, sorry), and it's awesome they can squeeze us in. I've only had to do this once or twice. They also do tech-only appointments for second-vaccinations which is less expensive and fast.

I absolutely love this place. I have been bringing my boys here for the last 7.5 years and also our new baby girl. She was a hit, everyone had to come see her!!! I started with Dr. Nelson, but she ended up leaving and have since then been seeing Dr. Westcott. She is amazing. Very caring, listens to you and loves your animal. Also, Beckie, who is a receptionist, is so kind.

Hawks prairie vet was a very nice veterinarian place. The staff was very friendly and treated Ruby as if she was family(and that’s how we like it) we are very very much dog/animal folk and to know that our lil pup was in great care put ease in our thoughts after dropping her off for surgery! Dr Jensen and her very nice assistant were amazing!! Ruby is still healing from her cherry eye surgery but her eyes look amazing!! Thank you Dr Jensen and assistant! Thank you Hawks Prairie!!! First couple pics are an update on Ruby and her eyes a month later after her cherry eye surgery they look great!! Thank you Hawks prairie ❤❤

My bunny broke his leg and Dr. Lisa was more than willing to help. Even though she didn't have experience with bunnies orthopedic conditions she was willing to consult with an exotic specialist and stabilize the leg. Our little Jordan was splinted for 6 weeks and just recently got the splint off. The results weren't as we all had hoped (it didn't heal straight). However, she did exactly as the specialist (and many other that we contacted) had advised. We had weekly splint changes and made herself as available as possible for questions and concerns. She's patient, willing and caring. We are still in the process of ensuring his leg can continue to offer the support it needs, but we are headed in the right direction. Couldn't be happier with the care he has received.

Love this place and my dog actually doesn't mind it either. At other vets you could tell that she would be nervous, but here she loves going in. Staff is wonderful in person or even if you just call with a question!!!

I hope that my words can accurately describe the compassion, concern, and diplomacy each of the employees shared with my husband and I when we lost our lil' girl, Paquito. They handled her with great care and shared their love for her and us, her parents. She was almost 21 when she passed on August 31st. A week prior to this, she was going down really fast so my husband and I had no choice but to call and make an appt to euthanize her. A 3pm appt was made for the next day so we braced ourselves...
Literally, one and a half hour before we had to bring her in, she came into our kitchen with enthusiasm and vigor of the pup she once was! Our lil girl wasn't ready to go. We called and canceled the appt. and spent the next week adoring, loving, and thanking her for the many years of joy she had given us. She quietly passed In my arms...she did it her way!
I want to share my sincere gratitude for all the employees at Hawks Prairie Veterinary who cared for my Lil' Girl after she passed. They took care of her cremation, gave me her plaster paw print and sent the most thoughtful, sincere, and absolutely beautiful card with their condolences. They made such a horrible experience bearable and for this...I will always be grateful.

An extraordinary veterinary practice. Really wonderful people and a clean, beautiful facility. I drive from half an hour away to bring my furry friends here.

The alternative therapies of acupuncture and cold laser enabled our dog to recover from an ACL injury without surgery. What a gift this place is!

I had been with my last Vet for almost 20 years but when the level of care and compassion for my pets health had dropped to an unacceptable level I had to find a new clinic.
A friend recommended Hawks Prairie to us. I am so glad they did. The staff is fantastic. They took the time to ask about all our health concerns with Lucy. She is 17 and still very healthy but has started having seizures and possibly IBS. They had us start a treatment plan that includes some natural items. We are very happy with our new Vet clinic.

I have two cats who have been going for the last 10 years. We are always really happy with their services and professionalism. One cat is very temperamental and a little hard to deal with and they have always been really patient and not overly boisterous as to not overstimulate him.

Latest update addition - we had to let one of our cats go to the bridge due to her failing health. They were extremely professional, gave us all the treatment options possible along with the potential outcomes, and all the time we needed when we said goodbye. Very respectful with all our decisions and final results.

I love Hawks Prairie vet clinic. Doesn't matter what doc or tech or front desk guru we get, the people are wonderful. Everyone genuinely cares about my kitties and makes me feel like I am valued as well. I adore the way they fawn over the kits and even give ear scritches, coos, and belly rubs when asked. I trust these folks and cannot recommend enough. Happy, healthy pets are the best.

I love this place. Dr Cowell and her assistant Kelsey are awesome. My Chance is a foster I adopted and they have taken wonderful care of him. They also took amazing care of my Jasper who sadly passed from Cancer a few yrs back. The staff is kind and caring and give outstanding care and take time to answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Absolutely love this vet. Everyone there is so kind and professional, they don't try and push unnecessary products or procedures. I moved out of state for a few years, and when I came back, there was no hesitation about returning to them for care. I have a new puppy and the vet took the time to answer all my questions and gave me excellent health and training advice. Their prices are great, too; I'm always pleasantly surprised at checkout. I'm grateful for all they do, and I highly recommend them.
