Over an hr on hold and disconnected. Tried to call back and they are so busy they can't even put me on hold again. It said to call back. Mind you I called right at 8am when they opened. Also I have sent 2 paper reviews and also an online one because they keep saying they didnt get anything. What the hell dshs. Get ur act together. And to top it off they lowered hours they do reviews. Why would you lower when u have so many in assistance. What idiot decided this ?

Recently had the misfortune of dealing with Shannon Angwin. I could feel the distain she has for the general public. God for bid she has to do her job. Not only was she not do her job, but she called the police on me because I wouldn’t leave. I was causing no disturbance. I was simply asking her to do her job and she would not. This woman needs to be fired and replaced.
I can see why this agency only has a one star rating. We pay these worthless public servants with our tax dollars and this is what we get in return? I would hope people would join me and making phone calls and writing letters/emails anything to get her. Just a disgusting tyrant of a woman.

Waited several times on the phone to speak with a human. On my third try, after a 4 and a half hour wait I got to speak to a polite enough individual who had no clue how to help with my issues, and didn’t know how to direct me to someone else who could.

*** Public service announcement!*** This is NOT a location you can get your EBT card at. The closest is 6860 capitol Blvd S, Tumwater WA 98501

Second day on hold. I've been on hold for 3 hours and 54 minutes today, yesterday 4 hours. And this is for my 31 year old son who has schizophrenia and needs his medical switch by March 1 or he doesn't get his medication without me paying for it (which I can't afford $670 a month for meds.. since I am taking care of three grandchildren too) or a new assessment (Scheduled March 2nd $384) and medically approved shot every three weeks ($650 each shot).

Yeah...let's just have people wait. I'm sure the community will be happy to have one more mentally ill person who can't get his mental health medical taken care of by tax payer money on the streets.

I can't believe I am on hold this long while I'm working too. Just listening to the bad elevator music hoping someone picks up.

I have to take time off work on Friday to sit in the office for hours now too because their call service is shameful. BTW I work for a public service State entity and we would have daily check in's for our phone call times and this would NEVER fly. We would either be fired for not taking care of our customers/community or the agency would HIRE MORE PEOPLE.

I will never apply for a position in DSHS.

After applying for assistance, they wait to send out a notification for you to finish the application process until the very deadline. I called them the moment they opened and have been on hold over 4 hours now. The wait time was supposed to be 2 hours. This is outrageous.

Ive delt with DSHS and this system since I was born. Im a foster kid and ive quite literally eat, slept and breathed this system since 3mo old. Allow me to shine some light on how to get r done.
1. Never call. The call system while it tells you its prerecorded 2min message ties up their available lines and the reps never speak to you anyway unless you are EXTREMELY lucky.
2. The best days to go in are Weds, Thurs.
3. The best times to go in are: 7:45 and wait outside; 9am
4. The worst days are; M, Fri and sometimes Tuesday (See bad times)
5. It is ESPECIALLY bad the first and last week of each month and the week before the 14th but not quite as bad. (Deadlines for apps and Social Security)

Also remember, if everyone starts going at these EXACT times, itll get busy then too so, do try to spread it out.
Best day to go is the 3rd week of each month any day except monday. Its when they are the least busy.
I do hope this helps people find the help they need and gets DSHS to pull head from hindquarters at the disgusting flaws. Its not on the workers, its on management. They are and have been TOTALLY clueless the past 10 years.

In the 5 years we have been with them my son has had 5 case managers and each was completely incompetent. We have never been able to successfully receive a single service that he qualifies for due to their incompetence. We just recently found out by my sons speech therapist that his newest case manager is no longer his case manager and we have never been informed of this by anyone from DSHS. By far the worst, most worthless organization I have ever dealt with and I have worked in disability services for 16 years.

As a professional social worker, who calls DSHS only when I cannot find needed information on-line, I am appalled that I cannot access DSHS in a timely manner. Today I called and my "expected wait time" is 38 minutes. The general population has the same untenable wait times. I plan to work on addressing this through contacting the legislature, writing and filing complaints, and taking other measures to have this serious problem addressed.

I literally moved here from across the country and died and you think these ppl care... I'm disabled and since being here I've had more stress and mental anguish than you'll ever know. The crazy thing is I was leaving hell, NYC only to step right back into hell again....The system is soooooo broken, just sad...

They give me a heart attack every couple months with that "we'll end your benefits if you dont interview" letter and every time I call when they open and stay on hold for hours and hours just to have my call dropped and by then its 12-2 so i cant even call back because the hold is 4 or 5 hours by then and they close interviews at 3.

You can't even wait on a hold. The automated voice will hang up on you after it says you have 9 minutes to wait for example then it hangs up.

They never answer the phone even if they told you to call them. The call goes to voicemail and no one calls back. Can't find fax number anywhere
