Rodeway Inn State College - near University

I've stayed at this hotel NUMEROUS times. So many, that I've racked up free stays through Choice Hotels. Never had a complaint. It's a basic hotel, nothing fancy. But I feel it is the best budget hotel in State College on normal days. Keep in mind that on football weekends, all the hotels in this town are expensive. This hotel is also one of the most convenient to see/pickup/drop off your Penn Stater to/from the dorms. The dorms are only a few minutes away from this hotel via Park Avenue. Highly recommended to stay if you're on a budget. And parents of Penn Staters, also recommend signing up for a free Choice Hotels account to rack up your free stays.

The room was just typical motel, just a little bare, a basic bed, TV, phone and bathroom, nothing outstanding in appearance. Could definitely benefit from a some artwork or decorations and definitely adding more soundproofing from adjoining rooms. Pricing was excellent. Staff have excellent customer service skills, everyone was polite, courteous and friendly. Every request was responded to promptly i.e. we asked for extra pillows , TV cable problems were fixed right away. Could use more variety for breakfast. Overall enjoyable experience and plan to book there again.

This is a great place to stay when visiting your Penn State "child". It's very close to the campus. Nice, clean, large rooms

Very comfortable, extremely clean and quiet. The host was friendly and gracious. We had a room on the second floor. These second floor rooms have a very high vaulted ceiling, making it feel airy and roomy. There are windows on both sides of the room-one set looks out on a residential neighborhood, but because you are on the second floor, you are not looking directly into anyone's house. There are also windows on the hallway side, but they are near the top of the vaulted ceiling so you can keep the curtains open for light without having other guests look into your room.

The room is extremely quiet. The night we were there, every room was filled, but we did not hear any sounds from the other rooms or the hallway.

Absolutely best value in State College! We paid nearly three times as much for a room at a different hotel on our last visit. The Roadway Inn beats that one for cleanliness, comfort and staff friendliness.

If you are looking for a place centric, affordable, comfortable, and with very nice attention, Rodeway Inn will be that place.

The rooms were clean, and pretty enough. Rooms had very comfortable beds, useful furniture, and well-equipped bathrooms. Also had a microwave and a mini refrigerator, which may facilitate many things during short or medium large stays.

The surroundings are quiet. There were groundhogs, squirrels, and many birds. Some people used to lunch like “mini picnics”. A lot of parking spots, just in front of room doors.

The cleaning services, breakfast (coffee availability almost all day), office hours, etc., were good. Managers were gentle, and always focused on offering good attention.

On the other hand, it is near to pharmacy, restaurants, bus stops, campus, markets, etc. Very convenience location.

This was probably the cleanest room I’ve ever stayed in. Not only did the sheets look clean, they smelled clean. And, very surprisingly, the blanket and bed cover also both smelled like they had just come off the clothesline in someone’s yard! Very fresh -air-clean smell. Even the curtains looked like they had just been laundered. The bath was a bit small but the cleanliness of the room & freshness of all the bed coverings more then made up for the short time I spent in the bath. I would hope and imagine all their rooms are like that. The desk people were also very pleasant & helpful. I suggested more shelf room in bathroom. Great place to stay tho. And quiet! Pat

Staying here with my father on a trip to see my Grandmother for most likely the last time. This is a very tiny hotel tucked away at Atherton. The decor is very 70s and I love it! Rooms are small but it's what makes it quaint and cozy.

I personally love this place. If you are too into more modern amenities and giant spaces then you might not like it. I appreciate older builings and styles and the simplicity as its just a place to sleep in.

I was impressed at how clean the room was. The service was very nice and accommodating. Also, it was only 10 minutes from the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Lovely place to stay at. Staff is really friendly and they have breakfast 7am-10am. Coffee was brewed really well too. Hope to swing by this place again soon.

We had a wonderful stay. The owner(I think) or maybe manager is very nice. He made sure we had a wonderful stay. We had a very spacious room. Two comfy queen beds. Everything smelt very clean. And looked very clean as well. We enjoyed our stay.

Very nice spacious room with everything new and well taken care off. Everything was clean and comfortable. There’s microwave and fridge in the room. They have coffee and hot water in the lobby throughout the day so that’s great! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. On top of that the price was just right. Thank you!

The rates are fantastic. The room was clean. Bed was comfortable for 2 nights. Parmar at the desk was very kind and helpful. Bathroom was clean. TV service was good. I'll be back again to stay when I go bike riding on the pine creek trail.

Clean, inexpensive, close to campus. Basically everything needed and was on a weekend very inexpensive compared to other places (as close hotels were 100-200 dollars more).

AK (front desk gentleman) was very kind and professional. Good dude right there.

Room was clean and had everything I needed to get by.

If you’re looking for a cheap place to stay that’s gonna have everything ya need (iron, hair dryer, etc) you cant find a closer more inexpensive place.
