My wife and I were here for dinner on a Friday evening this fall (2023) and left the restaurant really pleased with our overall experience that explains this 5-star rating. In our view, the food was extremely good for prices that were reasonable by contrast. Sure I would like it if two jumbo lump crab cakes did not cost me $32 but given the price of crab cakes even at a grocery store, the price seems fair given the overheads any restaurant has. Our dinner consisted of two appetizers - the Maine lobster bisque and calamari - and two entrees - the jumbo lump crab cakes and a branzino filet (which was one of the two specials of the day). Each of the items was very well executed and portion sizes were generous. We didn't finish all of the lobster bisque and even then, we left completely full with no room for dessert at the end. Our total bill was $86 and with a tip, it came to $100.

The restaurant is a BYOB which makes the place more affordable than other comparable restaurants. We brought a bottle of white wine with us and because we did not have time to refrigerate it at home, our server added some ice to the bucket holding our wine. That was a nice gesture. In general, the service was good, without being overbearing.

There were no real downsides but one thing I might note is that the chairs weren't super comfortable. Personally I like sitting in booths but there are none here. The only other thing worth a mention is that being located right on Bridge St. and somewhat far from the nearest municipal parking lot, parking can be tricky at times. Fortunately, we found parking a few feet away from the entrance to the restaurant and I could even see our car from the table where we were seated.

Overall, we had an excellent experience and this a place that we will add to our list of date-night favorites.

I had dinner here tonight with my family. We thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered. I had the pan roasted duck for my entree and the crème brulee for dessert. My sister enjoyed the filet mignon and the carrot cake for dessert. My brother absolutely loved the arugula salad and then the seafood platter. My parents loved the salmon and the butternut squash ravioli. We loved that the restaurant is family owned and everyone who works there was very kind. We will be back!

We attended the early service of their New Year's Eve Dinner. It was delicious and affordable for a fancy dinner. We were a big group, and all of the different dishes were prepared well and enjoyed thoroughly although we were a little rushed to let them set up for the next service. Parking is not easy, but our parties were fortunate to find spots. The ambience, tables and chairs are less elegant than the food, but overall a great value.

I went here for my birthday and had a wonderful relaxing quiet meal. We started with the pork wonton (sorry no photo. We ate them 😁). I had the pan seared scallops and my husband had the filet mignon. We both enjoyed our food. We finished with a pumpkin cheesecake and carrot cake with coffee.

Food was superb! We got scallops, filet, filet tips, and braised short rib. All dishes were fabulous and service was amazing despite how busy it was on a Saturday. Would love to return to try more menu options.

Rave review for French Onion Burger and Fries! I know, big deal it's a burger. Well let me tell u it's the best dang burger I had in long time. I don't even like onions! But then these were carmelized onions. The burger I got medium, and juices were running down my hand it was so moist and flavorful. They don't have salt/pepper at the tables and I was initially like What?? So I tried first and neither item suffered for the lack of added S&P. The menus not large but I saw a few things to try in future if I can manage to pick another item over the burger.

Food is absolutely delicious! Really impressed. Menu was large enough to have good selections. Service was outstanding and ambiance is very nice. A bit expensive but being a BYOB really helps. Looking forward to returning!

We're new to the Phoenixville area and wanted to order some takeout for Valentine's day to enjoy at home. We decided to try Black Lab Bistro for our first time and were not disappointed! We ordered the crab cakes and and braised beef short rib to go. I was very impressed that the food held it's heat and that we did not need to re-heat our dishes at home.

The beef was tasty and tender, although I would tweak the sauce a bit to be more complimenting to the meat. But the best news is that they make a great crab cake! I am a huge crab cake fan and am often disappointed, but so far, this is the best I've had in Phoenixville. The crab cakes were fresh and full of lump crab, as advertised.

I highly recommend them for takeout and am looking forward taking our future guests to eat there in person.

Food was excellent! We had a nice quiet corner table. Server was prompt and gave excellent recommendations for food. The duck Spring Rolls are AMAZING. The Brussels were perfectly done- and the bacon was crisp and the right amount of salt. Best fish tacos I've had in a long time. Dessert was over the top great!

Rating 5⭐s for the Sunday brunch. We love coming here for brunch!!! Pancakes are super fluffy. My favorite are the banana. I wish they served real maple syrup as an option, but no big deal.

We were going to a show at the Colonial theater which is directly across the street. The staff was friendly, the food was delicious. We had tuna tartare, spring rolls and Chilean sea bass tacos that were exceptional! BYOB just made the night perfect.

Food was great. I had the Sesame Salmon and wife had the Short rib. Brussels sprout and Wonton Apps were tasty. We chose to sit outside and service and atmosphere were on point. Minor feedback is the broccoli could have been cooked slightly more.
