Great food and service! I was driving pass looking for primos during lunch hours and amazing smelled hit me so I had to stop! Ordered a roast beef hoagie and it surpassed my expectations! I will be returning and highly recommend!

Right down the street from the Nicholas Smith train and hobby store, we stopped here for lunch. I had a cheese steak hoagie and my husband had a tuna salad sandwich and we shared an order of french fries. The food was great! The food wasn't overly seasoned and it was served hot and the portions were more than generous. Karen, our server, was very nice. Looking forward to a return visit.

Old School Cool! Family run sandwich/pizza shop. Dine in and Take out. Great bread. Nice Service and tasty sandwiches. Picked up sandwiches before the Eagles game. Chicken Cheesesteak and various hoagies. As busy as they were my order was filled quickly and everyone was nice. Next time I am trying the pizza and dining in.

Stopped by on my way back home for the first time. I had a cheese steak which was very tasty! If you like the old school pizza shop environment like myself, you will love this place! Great service too!

The Original Thunderbird Steakhouse has been running family owned and operated since 1956 and is known as the “go-to” for cheese steaks in Philadelphia.

I’ve been waiting years to come here and wasn’t disappointed.

Our waitress Gail was delightful. She was quick to serve our iced tea drinks (this is also a must) and then the cheese steaks arrived. A squeeze of mustard and ketchup in the middle and then BOOM! Tastebuds are alive. The texture of the sirloin meat with the cheese and soft bun takes what could be seen as just a steak roll to a culinary treat beyond belief.

And to back this up, they were the 2022 winners of the best Cheese Streak by Main Line Today Magazine. Says it all.

But what else can you have? Plenty. Pizza. Hoagies. Burgers. Calzone and more. Lots of choices and if you’d like to have that event of yours catered for - check them out.

The staff are fabulous, friendly and keep those cheese steaks pumping out to diners. Well done team. Love to know how many you make in a day.

You can dine in or take away. If you have dietary requirements please check with the staff. Seating is in booths, so plenty of room for a family. Toilets available.

Prices are very reasonable and one cheese steak will keep you going all day.

Gotta get back here before we leave for New York.

Excellent quality food in an old fashion luncheonette. Been enjoying dining there for 60+ years. Once you eat there, you'll become a regular like me.

Ok been back after damn close to 2 decades. Still amazing cheesesteaks 100% the gold standard. Friendly service and cozy atmosphere. Simply great streaks, cold softdrinks and great service. This is where I bring people to try a real cheesesteak when they come to Philly.

In town for work and wanted a Philly made in Philly, and this place was recommended multiple times. Well let me tell you it did not fail! Great food I'd recommend it to anyone!

Ordered a cheesesteak and meat was dry. Not ordering one from here again. I live in Philly, so no need to anyway. Came here on 8/11 to order a buffalo chicken cheesesteak and the roll was cut horrendously (see pic). My 9-year-old can cut better. Definitely was missing some meat for $15! Prices have definitely gone up over these years- Spent close to $80 for my wife, daughter, and myself. And that's with two waters!

One of the best places to get a cheesesteak outside of Philly. Service has always been great and fast. We used to drive 1.5 hours just to eat here! The buffalo chicken cheesesteak tastes absolutely delicious and is not overwhelming like at other restaurants.

Great place for pizza and steaks. I've been going there for years and have never been disappointed. My daughter started working there and has been treated very well by owners and customers alike. I would totally recommend this for all your dining needs.

I've only ever had their wings when work buys us lunch since I can't eat cheese but they're good. I would like them more if there were more flavor options. As far as the pizza everyone I work with swears it's some of the best in the area.

Great place, nice staff, and excellent food. I had their BBQ brisket pizza; with Wilson's secret sauce brisket and it's fantastic. I was totally blown away and easily one of my favorite pizzas of all time. I would give that pizza at least a 9.5. This new menu item was so good that I went back a second time a week later after I discovered it's introduction. I also really loved to see the collaboration of two of my favorite restaurants in the area too (The original Thunderbird & Wilson's Secret Sauce).

I go every week to get a particular sandwich they make. The people that work there are so friendly and the food is always good. The atmosphere is like a real mom and pop place, kind of like a family. They don’t disappoint.

BEST CHEESESTEAKS PERIOD!!! I grew up in the area and this is farrrr better than Pats, Geno's, Delasandros, Jim's or ANY other establishments that claim to have the best CHEESESTEAKS! Easy Parking, Fast, Friendly customer service & the place is REALLY CLEAN!!! Fair, Family Friendly Menu Pricing & They were established in 1956 and I think even some of the original employees STILL work there. WHENEVER you're in their area, I hope you give them a try. You certainly won't regret it. I live over 60 miles away and pass many, many well known Steak Shops and this is the ONLY one I'll come to. Thank You Thunderbird.

One of the best cheesesteaks around! The service is fast and friendly. There is limited eat-in seating; takeout is their mainstay. It's always busy at dinner time, especially on Fridays and Saturdays, so plan for a wait -- but it is worth the wait. The beef is flavorful, quality meat cooked to perfection with just the right amount of cheese on a fresh roll. I'm looking forward to trying some other menu items on future visits.

Good pizza and great customer service.

I ordered a large pizza today over phone and tried to make changes 10 mins later. Unfortunately the pizza was in the oven by then. However, the employees were super considerate to check if there was any possibility to accommodate my request. Even though they couldn’t, they were super nice with how they conveyed it.

I’m pretty sure I would not have been this patient if I were to run my own pizza place with customers changing their orders so late in the game.

At the end of the day, the way you feel about your food is partly the taste and partly everything that happens before it reaches your plate. This pizza place has figured both parts of the equation to the T!

Hands down killer breakfast! Man the home fries is a classic! The creamy texture to it is bomb! My wife loves the pancakes! This is our first time here and we love the classic 1956 vibes. Wonderful staff awesome food great place to eat! 💪🏽

I got a Philly cheese steak omelet and I almost died. It's the best thing I've had in a long time. Put it with some steak and peppers onto and your just in heaven.

I love it here!!! Gail is so nice! And billy!!!! Food is so so delicious!!!!!! Me and my son comes here! Our favorite spot!!!!
