Specializing in fiction, this spot has all the pulpy, mystery, sci-fi and fantasy you could ever read. One of my dreams is to get accidentally locked inside a store like this for a week and just read.
Solid collection. Lacking in non-fiction, but makes up for it with the rest of the selection.
Great spot to walk in with $20 and walk out with a months' worth of reading material.
I would come here again.

I love a bookstore! There is just something about them. Enjoyed looking around there was a cute Christmas tree made of books! The lady working was quick and helpful and knew exactly what I was looking for. I will be back!

Pleasantly surprised, so cute, unpretentious -- well comfy (inside the store) and the girl was so cheery with keen insight to the authors and series of Sci-fi etc. COMPLEEETLY ! opposite of some other book store that ... well it seemed like it was a pain for them to even help you, just sad. Aaaanyway, overall an excellent experience, THEY HAD THE RARE BRITISH BOOKS I NEEDED and finding them was ... well just efficient and quick as she knew right where they were. SO NICE ! indeed.

After posting the above I've come to find out that sadly at the end of March 2023, Encore Books will be closing its doors. I'll be in hoping to find books I've been craving and if you've ever dreamed of owning a bookstore, this could be your chance. Silent partner anyone? Now that I write this, I want to own it...stay tuned.

Woman at counter greeted me nicely then guided me to precise areas with books in my areas of interest. Store isn't disheveled (as are some used bookstores), has many books & has good lighting. I didn't find a particular uncommon book that I hoped for, but they have plenty others of interest. I'll shop there again.

Been coming here since they first opened. Even with new owners place seems great still. We just bought some kids books for my wife's class. We will continue to come here.

Love love love this place!!! Friendly owner always tries to find the book your looking for. Very organized and fun to shop. I took my 7yr old granddaughter and she found several books. There really is something for everyone.

I have visited 3 times since moving to Yakima area. Great customer service 👏 and great selection of my favorite authors. I enjoy fiction, mysteries ie...authors Stuart Woods, Mary Higgins Clark and Sandra Brown just to name a few. Paperbacks never cost more than $4-5 and you can take your own books and the gentleman who I have seen every time stated depending on need and condition of the book he would buy them back. It definitely beats B &N and/or grocery stores even Walmart.

My husband brought me to this precious gem last Saturday for small business Saturday. And I immediately fell in love with the store in every way! The sweet, welcoming clerk, the rows of options are a dream. And the prices, can't beat half off cover prices for used books. I left with 4 books for $20!! And I absolutely will be returning! This is now my favorite store for books!

One of my favorite Book spots... there is quite a bit to look at. Theybare super helpful and are usually able to track something down and order it for you if they don't have what you need.

I usually walk out with at least four books when I go.. there prices are pretty good.

Encore books sells both new and used books. The books are arranged by type, then by author. I have found many books that I am interested in there.
Recently I brought a box of my old books there. The owner went through them and selected the ones that he believes he can sell. For those, I received store credit worth half of the original retail price of the books. That credit is transferable, including to an account for students to buy books to read for school.

Very well organized store. Wide variety of books for all age groups. Friendly staff to point you in the right direction. If they don't have it, there is a good chance that they can find it for you.
They will take your gently used books and give credit to your account towards future purchases. I can always find books that I want to read here.

My favorite place in Yakima to buy used books - they are all half-price or less and are well organized. Plus you can turn in books you don't want and get credit to buy books that you do want. Thank you to the owner(s) - I'm sure it's a lot of work to keep a place like that going.
