Stone Valley Recreation Area

Stone Valley is such a beautiful park!! The lake, all the hiking trails, the boardwalk, and all the facilities available. Incredible nature center and just a wonderful and helpful staff. The hiking trails offer some great workouts and fantastic views. Highly recommend Stone Valley!!

Kayaking
-pros: the staffs are so friendly and kind! already they are excited, so you can be even before the ride.
-cons: there is not much shade
-comment: it is amazing that kayaking is for free! one of you can visit on psu website, choose a type of a boat on site. Even there was no strict time limit.

I visit once a month , became a fan of this quiet place. Came back three times, mostly because of the relaxing drive and tranquility. This place is under PENN state and wifi available :) good for fishing, and penn state owns 700 acres of land surrounding this area! Activities available on weekdays like Kayaks!

We went to this place last Saturday and it was really fun. we rent three canoes and played for about three hours. everything is pretty comfortable and the weather is cool, not too much sunshine ☀. thumbs up and really recommend this place!

The best place to go kayaking in central Pennsylvania. An oasis in the woods. Serenity. Tranquility.

Super quiet and peaceful. Plein Air painters were painting the lake scenery while I was there. Beautiful.

Wonderful area to rent boats, hike, play volleyball, picnic, view wildlife, or just RELAX. Very quiet and never crowded. Friendly staff are on hand during the season to help with cabins, rentals, and other recreational needs.

This is a very beautiful place to visit. I was enjoying the bird singing, the fresh air, the pure water, and the stress-release ambience. I was there when it was cloudy, I could not imagine how the beautiful it is in a sunny day.

The boat rental rates are pretty reasonable and even better if you are a penn state student. A must go to place to near penn state to relax or have a bbq with friends and family.

Tandem kayaks rentals are great for the under 7 crowd

I take my dog (and his dog friend) for a hike every once in a while and we LOVE Shavers Creek. Plenty of trails, a lake, spots to stop and take in a great view or explore.

Plus, my kids love seeing animals at their nature centre.

Great location to take a hike with the family. We were in the area for the day and decided to visit. We went on the lake trail which probably took me and the kids about an 45 min to go completely around (the wife was running but that's a story for another day). We were taking our time and looking at the climbing walls, high ropes, lodge, and of course, enjoying the great outdoors. We finally got around to the nature center and we're really surprised by what we found there. Lots of live animals including a bald eagle. Really cool and I hope to go back someday.

Beautiful place for boating, picnic and outdoor activities

Great place for hiking, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, camping, etc. Rentals sail boats, canoes, kayaks, and paddle boats. Trails around the lake, and other areas. Visitor's center, ropes course, climbing wall, cabins.

Cool lake with lots of hiking trails in the surrounding area.

Service was great, and animals where very well cared for. Shaver's Creek was very educational and a great place to bring young children.

I had a wonderful day at stone valley when I went. The boat staff was really friendly and helped me get set up on a stand-up paddle board. The prices were very reasonable. The trails around stone valley are also very well maintained and enjoyable to hike. They also connect to shaver's creek.

Beautiful scenery and the volunteers/staff at Shavers Creek are lovely!
