I ordered rail fence material over the phone after a conversation with their salesman. We bought almost 800’ of fencing with 2 rails in 11’ lengths. The posts are 4”x 6” treated poplar, 7’ long, with a split prevention staple in the top. All the posts were made of treated poplar and were excellent with regular dimensions and appear to be well dried as they were not heavy or wet like the treated wood you buy at lows or Home Depot. These posts aren’t the flimsy thin type I see in other yards. They look like half a light pole with 3 flat sides and one rounded side. The rails were also treated poplar and I found only a handful with any issues, only 2 of which would be unusable due to a broken end. I set those aside and used them as cut pieces. Corner and end posts were 4x4 and also of excellent quality. They were also 4” longer which I would think make them sturdier to handle a gate. We used a boxer and mini escavator with auger bits for the holes. I’d recommend the mini escavator as it handled 12” auger bit and drilled the holes in 1-2 minutes, most often in 1 where as the boxer just handled a 9” auger, took much longer to drill, at least 5 and often up to 10. It also struggled with rocks where as the bob cat never slowed down. We could have finished the entire fence in a weekend and with a lot less manual labor. The bobcat also pulled more dirt out of the hole as we didn’t need to remove the loose dirt by hand. We also found it hard to get a straight fence with the smaller holes, it was virtually impossible to get the hole in just he right spot and we needed more tolerance In the hole size.
