Southern Utah Mortuary

We couldn’t be happier than what we are with the service received at this mortuary. We hope we don’t have to use them again for a very long time but everything was perfect! The employees were professional and went out of their way to make sure everything was done according to our wishes. We had to make changes to the program 4 or 5 times but they were so understanding and patient with us. I would definitely recommend Southern Utah Mortuary.

Southern Utah Mortuary was wonderful from start to finish. Everyone we met with was so caring and sensitive and bent over backwards to make our experience the best it could be. So happy we picked them!

Our family had the pleasure of experiencing the kindness of Utah through Southern Utah Mortuary. Our family is from Los Angeles and had been on a family trip to Utah. Our mom had a sudden heart attack in Bryce Canyon and passed away in a nearby hospital. Southern Utah Mortuary came to escort my mom back to their mortuary, and we were in Cedar City for about 4 days until we could bring our mom home with us.
Every single person that we worked with at Southern Utah Mortuary was so kind, and our funeral director, Bodie, really met all our needs and was so accommodating. They also arranged the paperwork and the logistics of brining our mom home, and we are so grateful that everything went so smoothly. Their facility was also very beautiful, and we found ourselves wishing that the funeral home in LA had been half as nice. They went over and beyond, and we truly appreciate their service and kindness. I will forever remember them and Cedar City... Thank you.

Perfect in so many ways from first phone call to graveside memorial. All so nicely set up at graveside for guests. 99% of the care and arrangements were made out of state by phone. We couldn't have been more pleased.

The folks at SUM provide such incredible service during difficult times. You can always count on them to take care of your needs in an appropriate and professional manner.

We r the best mortuary in town, we take care of everyone ones needs we r the only mortuary in Cedar that has a crematorium. I have work for this company for 3 years.

I cannot find your on line condolences

My experience with this Mortuary’ was less than stelar - I expected to receive a professional experience and for the amount of money that we paid for services I don’t think we should expect less. The people who work there are very nice, however, there were several mistakes that should not have occurred. First, they listed the wrong address to the church where the services where being held and when we brought it to their attention the person we called first was not willing to change it. It did get changed after we called a second time and reach someone else. Next, the time listed for the services was incorrect. Once we discovered it, they were fairly quick to get it corrected. Last, we asked for a thumb print so we could each get a keepsake necklace made ( which is a service they provide and advertise). After inquiring several times , we were told that it hadn’t been done, and we got a “sorry”. Unfortunately, mom had been buried for two weeks when we got that answer.

They handled my mother-in-law's funeral and did not know how to be in the background.
When we asked that they close the casket before we had a family prayer before the funeral, they said it was difficult to take care of this and they needed to wait until right before we left the room and go into the chapel.
We found out the real reason when they hijacked this family time and one of their staff called up all of the grandchildren to stand by the casket.....many of whom had not wanted to go up to see her earlier. He insisted that they all come up and then engaged them in a discussion about families. They had no relationship with this man and here he was asking them personal questions and asking for one of them to cover her face. We intervened at this point to have my father-in-law do this.
When I approached another staff member at the cemetery about how horrified I was by what had happened, he said that this is their tradition to always do this with the grandchildren at funerals and was surprised that I had found it so unsettling.
This is not the way that these grandchildren should have had to spend their last moments with their grandmother.

Will try our best to use a different company. They delayed the delivery of the headstone for my brother in-law after it was paid in full. Called several times and come to find out they made a mistake that delayed the delivery of the headstone for a year if not longer. The worst part was that we found out about the headstone being done when we visited the cemetery. No one called us to let us know it was done and installed. Very poor customer service specially from the sales guy.
