Dope little pocket university for nerds in Manayunk. The owner is real chill, too. He even put my book, Callers: Emergence on his shelf (shameless plug, I know, but the guy really is dope. Indie supporting indie and all that. Real laid back dude.) They got comics, manga, figurines, toys, all the hits. Check'em out.

One of the friendliest shops I've ever walked into. JD was interested in my preferences, and quick to engage and recommend something related. It was a great read too! Will absolutely be going back.

It's so nice to have a comic book shop so close by and I love that there is an all-ages section that's very visible so I can bring my kiddo in to browse. Also, so glad I got that heads up about Vol. 10 of Saga. Everything was totally cool...until it wasn't! [dissolves into a puddle of tears]

Support your local comic book shop, y'all!

I’ve been here on several occasions and have always had positive experiences. Staff is always friendly and helpful. As someone fairly new to comics, sometimes stores can be overwhelming or feel “judgy”, and this is not one of them. Awesome collection, reasonably priced, and well organized! Enjoyed browsing through back issues and found many to add to my collection.

Stopped in to JD’s a couple a years ago to peak into the world of comics for the first time during a low period of the MCU right after getting sucked in to it. We haven’t looked back.

Walked in thinking I’d pick up a Batman and an Ironman and go on my way but I picked up so much more. I had never read a comic book before, and every question I had was answered and provided me with the best guidance to get what I was looking for.

Rae and JD are always filled to the brim with recommendations that are right for you and your expectations/descriptions. Sometimes I’ll just spew out a sentence of adjectives of what I’m looking for, and they’re right there with the answer.

They have SO many trades and single issues to browse, and whatever they don’t have they’re happy to special order. I mostly appreciate that they don’t call you when they arrive, they’ll text (no, I’m not joking, I really love it) They’ve also got shirts, Art prints, magnets, stickers if you’re not in the mood for a book.

I’ll go out of my way not to order from online retailers just so I can go in and get recommendations, browse and find my new favorite thing on the shelf.

Beyond thankful and lucky to have such a kind, knowledgeable and characteristic shop in our area.

My wife and I fell in love with comics because of JD’s shop. If you’re nearby you owe it to yourself to stop in.

JD is without a doubt the best. Was referred to his store by a friend two years ago and it was the best advice I've ever been given and I've been a regular customer ever since. His store is amazing, he suggests new stuff that I may enjoy when I come in, and he orders anything I need. He goes out of his way for his customers to make them happy. When I moved from Philly to San Diego, he continued to mail me my books. Like I said, JD is the best and I wouldn't think of getting my comics anywhere else.

I've only been here once because i don't live in the area, but I'll gladly make a trip back any time I'm in Philly! JD is incredibly kind and made me feel very welcome. there's a great selection of books, as well as tee shirts designed by JD as well! I bought one and had it shipped to my house when it was back in print. overall great service and a great experience

Been coming here for a few years now and can’t say enough about how great this place is. Whether it’s JD, Rae, or someone filling in, you can always count on a good recommendation. They treat you like a friend there and it goes a long way!

This place is awesome! I've been driving 30 minutes to get downtown when there's a much better place right in manayunk. JD really knows his stuff, and all the customers are comic lovers very open to recommendations. My boyfriend and I went here just to stop in and ended up walking away with great recommendations and an overall amazing experience. There's a pretty good inventory and he's always willing to order whatever you're looking for. I would recommend for anyone to go here!

The best. Really fun stuff and here, and the dude knows what the heck is up. I say I like “this”, he says oh try “this”. I say what about “this” and he explains everything without spoilers because he cares about my adventure into the comics. The dude knows what’s up.

This shop is awesome! The owner—JD—is friendly and will put in special orders for anything not in stock and gives great requests, to boot. There are a lot of queer-friendly comics for all ages which is wonderful to see! It’s also an easily accessible shop for folks with wheelchairs, unlike one or two others I’ve been to in the city (no stairs, has double doors that open plenty wide).

This is an excellent little comic book store. I was just visiting Philly for the weekend and I decided to check out all the comic book stores around the city. This is the first one that I stopped at and it didn't disappoint. The owner was extremely friendly and he recommended to me an awesome comic called Batman: White Knight which I can't wait to dive into. He had a little bit of everything. I highly recommend stopping by here if you're visiting Philly or if you live here. It's an excellent little shop.

One of the things I miss most about being in Philly is being able to walk down to JD's shop and get a recommendation for a book I had no idea existed but would end up loving. The selection of books is great and the community events like the book club are a great way to get into comics and meet new friendly people.

JD's has quickly become one of my favorite shops in Manayunk. JD is a super nice guy and super helpful. His recommendations are consistently spot on and if he doesn't have something immediately available he's happy to see if he can order it for you. 1000/10 have spent way to much money here

What a great shop with a spectacular selection and helpful staff! I went in there intended to spend $5-10 on a comic book and ended up getting two actual books and a shirt. If I lived in the neighborhood I would probably spend a lot of time here. It's definitely on my list of things to do on future visits!
