The Crefeld School is a wonderful place where students learn to function as members of a community. That in itself is absolutely true. What students are into teachers try to shape their curriculum around, and it's an absolutely wonderful place. As a student there, I finally felt like I fit in.

On a side note, I would like to debunk a false rumor;
Whoever wrote the review saying the school is filled with deviant teachers is dead wrong. The Crefeld School used to be way further from it's principles 7-8 years ago before massive reform was done. Now, you'd be surprised it was ever bad in any sort of way.

It's been completely turned around and any teachers who behaved inappropriately toward a student would likely get fired, but not for the sole reason of preventing the school from getting shut down. When the ONE teacher within the last 7 years was found out, he was fired. Isn't that the right thing to do? "A Google User" is talking about his/her experience, which is probably from over 6-7 years ago.

Crefeld is a wonderful place, and it is the first place I have ever felt at home. It's like one huge dysfunctional family there.

Amazing experience! My girlfriend and I attended their glass blowing class offered on the weekends. It was an entertaining yet educational experience. The instructors were great and very attentive. We got to make 2 projects, a paper weight and a cup, that turned out great for our 1st time doing anything like this. My girl hasn't stopped talking about it for the past 2 weeks. Just picked up our pieces today. We had to come back the following week to pick them up because they had to cool down in their kiln. Just a heads up in case you were expecting to be brining them home that day.

A rare find - a school where community is valued as an educational outcome. For example, the entire school - faculty, admin and students - stop each week to do community service projects in the local area. The counseling for college is very focused on finding the individual best match for your child. The "advisory" system ensures that one person is responsible for staying on top of how your child is doing in every subject - they check in with the child TWICE a day and check in with updates to parents every 3 weeks! With this kind of individual attention from caring teachers, things do not get off track because everyone is on the same page all the time.
We've been there 2 years and are thrilled to be part of the Crefeld community. Alumnus M.K. Asante, who struggled in high school and is now a world-renown author and professor, returns to the school and has endowed a creative writing scholarship there.
Our family has seen my child grow in amazing ways under the caring and support of the faculty and staff at Crefeld. If you feel your child is not who they could be in the public system, investigate if Crefeld is a match - it has made huge changes in the lives of the families we know there.

Best scool in terms of actually preparing their students for life. They accept you for who you are and support you in following your strengths and interests. It's about developing engaged citizens and not about rote learning and high stakes test taking.

10/10 Would go again. I went here and I credit the school with much of my success in academics and in life. I have a language based learning disability and going here was exactly what I needed to become aware of my various learning styles instead of failing out of public school.

I came across my yearbook and realized how thankful I am to have gone to Crefeld. It's not for everybody, but that's the point. My brother and I must visit someday soon! *Send your kid to Crefeld; their adult self will thank you for it!*

I went to Crefeld for 9th grade. Eh. The school isn't the worst but definitely over-rated. Crefeld isn't as warm and welcoming as what the school presents itself to be. Bullying does occur. Large staff turnover. I think for some students it will be fine. It's mainly a smaller school where everyone will know me, but the raves about it being warm and homey are definitely blown up.
