Liberty Lands in Philadelphia is a vibrant 2-acre community-owned green space located in the Northern Liberties neighborhood. It was born from the vision of local residents who transformed the site of the old Burke Brothers Tannery into a public park. With a history dating back to its creation in the spring of 1997, Liberty Lands features a large central open area, a council circle of flowering crabapples, and small public gardens. It’s a place where neighbors come together to work, learn, and play, hosting events and fostering a sense of community. The park is also a demonstration project for the reuse of industrial sites and innovative management of stormwater runoff.

Beautiful little park and the location of the annual Parade of Spirits.

Great place for our toddler granddaughter's birthday party. Large shady area with picnic tables was great on a hot sunny day. Plenty of equipment for kids to play on and space to run.

Largest park in Philadelphia that is community owned! Great for kids, dogs, etc. There are two playgrounds (one for little kids and one for older). Plenty of room for dogs to hang out and picnics. Dogs must be kept on a leash- there’s a dog park across the street. There’s a few benches and a stage where people sit.

So nice to have a park in the middle of the city. It has a small kids playground, benches, tables, neighborhood garden, and a stage for performances. They often hold craft fairs here in the summertime. The park is well kept and I rarely see trash floating around. Nice little spot to hang out.

Great little park to spend time with and extremely family friendly as there is even an outdoor playground. They have a community garden to which people are contributing on a regular basis! There is truly love being shown to the garden and this park. They have a wide grassy area and a stage that gets used for local events occasionally

A gorgeous private park with great equipment for young children. The landscaping took a lot of thought and there's always something blooming. They have a lovely walk around garden my young boys like to roam around and catch butterflies in. The park is kind of close to the road so I wouldn't recommend letting your children play without supervision of some kind.

It was a beautiful outing today. The community representation was very welcoming and enjoyable. We will definitely come back to play in the park. Thank you for having the trick or treating at the park.

Nice little neighborhood park! Has both a baby/toddler play area, as well as an older kid playground and swings. Whole park is mulch/grass. Large field and several picnic benches. No public bathroom though.

Perfect neighborhood-run park to have nearby. The community does a good job of maintaining it. Playground, picnic tables, garbage cans and a communal garden along with a good amount of open space all packed into this park.

I LOVE this park. It's wild and curated all at the same time. You can tell it is neighborhood owned because it has a different feel - more rustic, more communal, unique. There's plenty of the normal park equipment for kids plus some homespun things too. There's wildlife and open space all around, plus lots of shade and log benches and angle parking all around. And they have port-o-pots with a code punch lock for neighbors to use. Really wish we had a park like this in my neighborhood. For now, I'll just have to visit. (And if anyone wants to share the potty code with me, that'd be awesome.)

Very enjoyable laid back park. A nice amount of picnic tables, open spaces and trees along, a playground, along with a community garden. It made for a great spot to enjoy takeout from a local eatery.

One of my favorite places to be grounded and one with mother nature, while getting to know the community. Love this place. Thanks

We did this. The neighbors believed we could and we did. This is what happens when a couple people put their heads together, ask folks to pitch in and add a lot of sweat equity. Its a great asset to the community. A few original volunteers still live nearby to see the change that 1 park can make.

Liberty Lands is a small little park in the heart of NoLibs. It has a few tables for a quick bite to eat and the ability to reserve it, judging by some of the signage. I've definitely attended a few events there that were perfect for the space. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and want to enjoy the weather.

Gem of a park in Northern Liberties. It is privately maintained by the NLNA. You can rent the picnic tables for parties for a small price, and also subscribe to get the bathroom code for a yearly donation. BBQ grilling, alcohol and dogs on leashes are permitted. My kids love this place, they think it has the best climbing trees around!

Family-friendly community owned private park in Northern Liberties, Philadelphia, PA, is the best place to take the grandchildren. Safe, lots of families and fun schedule of activities. UPDATE OCTOBER 2021, the 2nd Annual Halloween event was held on Halloween Day this yay. A great event for families with pre-schoolers and elementary school aged kids.
