Silvia's Thompsonville Cafe

The food is amazing and Silvia takes great pride in her work. We had a very large party and everyone was served quickly and we all ate well! The Romanian Wine was impressive, and the lamb stroganoff was incredible! Portions are great and Silvia is incredibly nice. Will definitely eat here again!

It's small and charming. The owner was our waitress and cook. She was personable and took care of us like a Mama. You need to have no place to go and not feel in a rush to get in and out to enjoy the place. Yet as I say this, we had a show to attend but we never felt we wouldn't get there. It was a relaxing enjoyable pace and left on time. The food was plentiful and delicious. The homemade Romanian wine was so delightful. Full if flavor and mot too sweet.Highly recommend this place!

The food was amazing and the prices very fair for the portions which these days is a rarity. I highly recommend this restaurant. The service was impeccable and the people were some of the nicest people I have met in a while, it is a little off the main drag but it is nice if you find it, you will be so happy that you did. I got the veal parmigiana. The veal was cooked to perfection as was the pasta. I would give them more stars if I could.

Food was plentiful and amazing. Prices were very reasonable. We will definitely be going again. Sylvia’s is the best and she’s wonderful too!

Where to begin….if we could give 6 stars we would! We stopped in at Silvia’s Cafe the other day which turned out to be a wonderful choice. The inside is decorated so nicely and it’s an amazing atmosphere. Silvia and her staff were an absolute pleasure.
We ordered a great variety of food including a few different types of bread, a fresh salad, lamb stroganoff, salmon & pierogis. Naturally we had to top it off with a couple different desserts including one chocolate cake and one apple crumble dish. We also loved the red wine which paired splendidly with the meal. Everything was cooked to perfection. We can honestly say without hesitation it was one of if not the best meals we’ve enjoyed. We can’t wait to return again! Thank you Silvia !

We were so lucky to happen upon this gem of a restaurant! On our way further upstate, we saw this sweet little restaurant was open and served salads, so we took a chance. We're so glad we did!

The salad was so fresh and nutritious, and the balsamic dressing was on point. A nice variety of fresh homemade bread was served warm. Silvia herself presented us with an unbelievable Ukrainian cabbage soup. I’d include a photo, but it was gone before I could take one. The Polish Falcon Melt was the best kielbasa I’ve ever had (very light and sweet)…also on fresh homemade bread. The pirogues (we had cabbage and cheese) were perfectly seasoned and so yummy. We tried the homemade lemonade and it was so sweet and delicious.

Everything is fresh and it’s amazingly light for such filling food. The portions are generous, so we got to enjoy the leftovers even more later in the day.

Highly recommend this sweet little place, like eating in the kitchen of your favorite aunt. The prices are fair and there appears to be space for special occasions, so check that out as well. Silvia was an attentive hostess and really made us feel at home. Totally worth a special trip—we’ll be back for sure. Check it out!!

Silvia's is a gem. My sister and I walked in for lunch and were greeted by the chef herself who welcomed us in and sat us in the cute and European feeling dining room. The food was absolutely delicious and the portions were generous. Our entrees came with a salad and freshly made bread. We enjoyed and excellent beef stroganoff and spaghetti and meatballs and chef Silvia surprised us with some complimentary brownies which came hot out of the oven and were also phenomenal, would highly recommend coming here.

Absolutely delicious meal!!! My fiancé and I had the chicken schnitzel and beef stroganoff!! Each dish came with home made bread fresh from the oven, salad, well seasoned roasted potatoes and vegetables! The portions were huge!! The beef was tender and the chicken was amazing! I can’t recommend this place enough, thank you for a fabulous meal!!

Want a cozy place where you can have a conversation, a place where in most cases the owner Silvia just might take your order and chat you up as well.

It’s a place where the people take such pride in what they do and serve.

Then there’s the food, aside from being very tasteful, you could feed a small village with the leftovers.

I look forward to returning many times to try everything on the menu. Then I’ll work my way through the lunch menu.

What a terrific find. Delicious food, warm atmosphere, Sylvia was very friendly and welcoming. Eastern European classics, and other plenty of other options. Very reasonable prices, convenient to the highway, ample street parking. We will definitely be going back!

Silvia's Thompsonville Café is a gem! We started with bacon wrapped scallops for an appetizer that were delicious. Each entree was cooked to perfection while we enjoyed the appetizer and large salad. The portions were huge! The carafe of red wine was the perfect accompaniment to our meal. We highly recommend this restaurant.

The food is great. The portions huge and the pricing reasonable. Each main meal turned out to be at least two servings. Do yourself a favor and ask for the takeout containers at the beginning The salad was large enough for 4. The baldmic dressing was delicious. The dessert, warm apple strudel and vanilla ice was wonderful. Sylvia is a talented chef and trust her recommendations. I had a native Romanian dish and it was superb. Cannot wait to return.

Had an outstanding experience and food at Silvia's last weekend with a bunch of friends. Silvia is a hard working lady who puts pride in what she serves up. If you want to feel special, enjoy a home-like cooked meal, then this is your place. Hidden, nothing fancy, but worth every penny!!! Thank you Silvia for an incredible experience. We started going to Sylvia's over twenty-five years ago...when her location was in the Polish Home Block...we tried the new location..love the decor...meals were excellent and large portions...all personel were wonderful, and knowledgeable ...One way street throws a curve..but easily found..Sylvia will take charge assure you enjoy your visit !

I've eaten all over the world and this place was incredible. Id give every dish 5 stars. Portions were on huge platters and would be enough for 3 people.

Silvia is like family. Love her and love her food. Don't go in thinking you are going to get a fast food atmosphere. It is much more a European experience and you are not getting out quickly. The food is fresh and amazing. Pictures are from a celebration and though she didn't know that there was a birthday until we came in she presented him with a gorgeous and delicious tirimisu cake! I have also been to a wedding where Silvia catered and the wedding cake never showed up but Silvia brought out a gorgeous and yummy cake big enough for the whole crowd and saved the day. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO SILVIA!

I have lived in Enfield, CT for 12 years and never had Silvia's. I moved to Bigelow Commons my husband and I decided to eat across the street from where we live at. I love love the food there Silvia and the cook was very nice to us. Very friendly, awesome food, beautiful place to relax. Thank you Silvia for your friendliness and your good service..

If your looking for great home made food, intimate atmosphere and something other than all of the fast food in Enfield, look no further than Sylvia’s Thompson cafe. This very quaint restaurant has American and International cuisine and is like being in a little best in Europe. We have lived in Enfield for 30 years and didn’t know about it until recently when Friend recommended it. The food is excellent, portions are very large and prices are very reasonable. To top it all off Sylvia’s is the sweetest person and eager to personally make sure everything is well . I’m not one to add a review for any place. In fact this is the first time I have done one. The food and service were so amazing I wanted to make sure others knew about it. I encourage u to try it and experience it for urself. You won’t regret it!!

Going to Syliva's Restaurant is like going home to see my family for a meal. Sylvia is warm and cares for her guests. She makes all of her food with love. We visited for her annual Thanksgiving buffet meal and it was such a warm, inviting, wonderful experience. So much food!! So many different European dishes, from Germany to France and Italy. There is definitely something for everyone (and don't skip the deserts -she is highly skilled in her breads and pastries, too!)
