Great experience. Many, many families with children, dogs. Need more benches to rest. It would be helpful along the way up to have signs how much further to the top, or which trail to take. Pretty overlook, but need safety barriers, to prevent falls I think. Please remind dog owners to bring water up the mountain.

Beautiful hike on a wide path with mild incline. Great views and Huebling tower for an extra 6 story climb.

Definitely worth the trip to check out this beautiful castle. I've been here many times and always enjoy hiking here. Definitely a moderate hike with some rock scramble in areas but over all a fairly easy hike.

Such a great hike. Very steep in the beginning but levels out a bit as you go on. The views from the top are well worth it. There are bathrooms at the bottom of the trail by the parking area as well as at the top near the tower.

The trail is well maintained, the first half it's a bit challenging if you are not athletic, however there are many places where you could sit and take a rest. The Heublein Tower on the top of the mountain is awesome, worth visiting. With a good pace it takes about 40 minutes to hick from the parking location to the tower on the top.

Went here for part of a date/anniversary/adventure. Parking on the side of the road. The hike on the gravel trail was pretty steep on the beginning but leveled out to some amazing and breathtaking views. The tower/museum was open when we went and not only could you go to the top and see a 360 view of most of the state, but it was an interesting tour through a portion of the house with the history of the land and owner. Very. Nice. And we picked a great time of year to go to get a great view of the foliage.

One of the most impressive state parks in CT combines historical tower dwelling with hike up the mountain. Scenic views along the ridge trail, spectacular views from Heublein tower. I have selected Metacomet trail to return back to parking lot (via connector trail) and was not disappointed: terrain reminded me some of Shawangunk mountain trails.

I love taking this hike, fairly easy but you can still get a good workout in if you choose to treat it that way. The hardest part of the hike is the incline in the beginning but you're rewarded halfway up the hike with a wonderful cliffside view! And once you reach the tower you'll have gorgeous panoramic views. The tower has been closed as of recent but it's still gorgeous to look at and perfect for a photo opportunity. I've done this hike over 30 times but today was the first I decided to catch the sunset and it most CERTAINLY won't be the last!

Well maintained facilities and restrooms in several locations. Beautiful views on the top and especially on top of the tower. Video presentation gives the history of the tower and Hartford. Many trails at different lengths can be found.

A forgotten gem of Connecticut's heyday. It was a brisk afternoon with overcast skies. I'll return when the buildings are open. Typical state park courtesy of the demise of the owner

Very scenic! Love the hike. A little steep at the beginning, but an incredible view of the valley and the tower.

Beautiful walk up to see great views. Only advice is to make sure you have mosquitos spray for journey.

This place is great. It can be a quick 45 minute hike OR an hour up if you take your time and enjoy the views! The top has picnic tables and the tower has facilities for use. The climb up the tower is even better and filled with more amazing views! Two types of walking paths...the one all the way to the top which walks along the mountain side OR the path directly up to the tower which cuts through the dense forest of the mountain. Suitable for elderly and young children dogs enjoy this too. There's also always a festival happening here:)

The way itself to the tower is easy, going through the beautiful forest and views over the area. Tower was closed till the Spring time, but still, the surroundings are very beautiful! It took me around 20 minutes to get there from the parking lot

So if you're trying to get parking during the weekend try to come as early as possible. The hike isn't that bad, but does have some steep incline so some kids may not enjoy how steep it is. Secondly if you are bringing a child please keep a close eye on them there are no guard rails or fences and the drop is pretty steep. The view is incredible especially during a nice spring or summer day. They have a shaded patio with tables if you want to pack a lunch as well. This place is close to my house and it's always enjoyable to hike it.

If you’re looking for a moderate hike with a great view, then this is the place to go. I say moderate because the first 10-15 minutes of the hike is a bit steep, but once you get to the top it’s easy and flat. The top features a breathtaking view of the valley below. It’s especially extraordinary to visit in the fall when the leaves on the trees are changing colors - the valley is incredible with all of the colors. Then you can continue on to Heublein Tower, which has some interesting things to explore around it. On the way to the tower, there is a huge rock face that looks crazy, but is actually really fun and relatively simple to climb! Highly recommend this hike to anyone looking for a simple, short hike with some fun features along the way.

I enjoyed hiking and climbing to the top and the way to the Heublein Tower goes from the trail that starts here. There was no parking area but we parked down there off the road. I really enjoyed climbing up the mountain. At first it is very steep for 15 to 20 mins and then it is good. It takes 40 mins to the tower. But it is good for healthy walk. And also a has good scenery from top. I liked the bird songs along the trail.
The tower was closed , but a note said it will be open on Memorial weekend

A steep incline from the parking lot up to the trail along the cliffs. Beautiful views from pocket vista's along the way to the Hublein Tower! Check the days and times.that the tower is open if you are wanting to climb up. Lovely Pavillion area with great views too.
