What a hidden gem! The menu is wildly creative, and everything we ordered exceeded our expectations. Don't miss the Lobster Bun if it's on the menu - it's ethereal!

Amazing atmosphere. Off the beaten path. We were here between 6pm & 8pm on a Friday and there were very few people there. The bar inside is very quant and the outdoor area is very aesthetically pleasing.

Overlooked gem of a place. Convenient downtown location, overlooking the Pawcatuck River. Great atmosphere, interesting drinks, attentive service. Creative and delicious dishes. Will return.

Accidentally found the shallows after an incredible day at the beach. This husband and wife team really did everything right. The service is incredible and the food will blow your mind. Not to mention their drink menu is fantastic and very creative. One thing to note since everything is local the menu changes fast. So go ahead and order that extra dish because you'll absolutely love it...
We can't wait to go back next time we're in town.

There are three things we really enjoyed about our experience here. First, and this caught us off-guard, is that the intention is for the plates to be shared. We didn't know that walking in. The plates are more generous than at a typical tapas restaurant, which is perfect, because you really want to try as many things as possible from the menu.
Second, everything was "farm-to-table" and there was lots of fresh veg. It was wonderful to have fresh veg be a prominent part of each dish.
Third, the food was delicious. Once you order, the chef curates the order of the dishes to give the best flavor sensation.
If you are tired of the same old, same old, try The Shallows for a delightful change of pace.

Super cute place with great ambience. We had the cantaloupe margarita and a beer at the bar overlooking the river. So peaceful and beautiful. Very quiet on a Sunday evening. The cocktail was delicious and balanced, not too sweet. Would definitely come back here.

Stumbling on this hidden gem was like winning the quaint afternoon lottery. Absolutely fantastic menu both food and drink. We made our way to the door just exploring Westerly and ended up having an awesome evening both drinks and dinner. The atmosphere and staff blew us away. I’ve never really ever written a review for anywhere before even coming from the restaurant industry myself. Thank you guys for everything!

This is a new place tucked away in downtown Westerly. I've been there twice now and love it. There's a very modern and rustic feel. It's a well thought-out Bar and restaurant. They have a downstairs and upstairs Bar and Restaurant. There is also an outside dining area right on the Pawcatuck River. Love their Johnny cakes for an appetizer. Definitely worth a visit.

We went for dinner tonight for my dog, Buddha’s birthday. We had an awesome dinner and great server!! The food was great. Ambience was very cool!! Our server made us all feel very special and went above and beyond to make our night!!!

Fantastic restaurant - best in Westerly, I’d say! Amazing food/drinks, great service, great prices. The atmosphere is lovely as well, particularly the outdoor area overlooking the Pawcatuck river. Our waitress Alicia was attentive and we had planned on just drinks here but decided to stay for dinner after she made us feel so welcome.

Lovely spot with Nice wine/beer/cocktail selection, and innovative locally sourced dishes. Very tasty! Great service as well! I look forward to coming back in warmer weather to check out the view from the patio over the river!

Nice place. Sat inside because it was raining but you can sit out on the patio and overlook the water. The scallops and flank steak dinners were excellent. Very friendly atmosphere. A great addition to Westerly.

We often eat in Westerly and I’m amazed it took me a year to discover this hidden gem. We’ve been a couple of times. So far, we’ve tried the citrus and beet salad. It was crisp with mixed baby greens and the citrus was perfectly ripe. The beets were tender and delicious. A little goat cheese and very light dressing were perfect. Next we had the Stonington scallops over polenta. My husband ordered it and he isn’t usually a fan of corn meal dishes. But his eyes rolled back in his head after the first bite.
Last night we went back and ordered the caramel, pulled pork sandwiches and chimichurri shoe string fries. O!M!G! The pork was perfect and whatever they do to it puts it over the top. Like, who would ever think to put caramel in your pork? Genius! The flavors blend magically and the bun has its own layer of flavor grilled in. The fries are hand cut and perfectly crispy and potatoey. The chimichurri is light and doesn’t weigh the fries down. There is also an aioli sauce that pairs well.
But the very best thing about the Shallows is that they make everything, with the exception of their cheeses and breads, in house! Fresh, so fresh! They are on the river and the view is rare in this area. The atmosphere is great. It doesn’t feel like a bar and the music doesn’t dominate. The decor is warm yet modern and the staff are attentive and friendly. Another great addition to the Westerly food scene!

Wonderful location to enjoy some delicious food on a beautiful day. A real gem worth finding.
