Smokin' Hereford BBQ

We took an hour road trip just to eat here. Very clean and fun atmosphere. The service was top notch and exactly what you would want. We were greeted and seated immediately. The menu was easy to read with some pictures. Good variety and decent prices too. We ordered cheese curds, burnt ends platter, and the pulled pork sandwich. (Baked beans, grandma's potato salad, and beer battered French fries along with cornbread were our sides) Everything was very hot and presented nicely. The portions were much larger than expected. I immediately dropped a bunch of fries on the cheese curd plate for my husband. I loved that they served ranch with my fries. The burnt ends had a different sauce than the one served with the pulled pork. We both preferred the sweeter flavor of the other sauce. Personal preference. The burnt ends weren't what you would normally get, but were delicious. They reminded me of deep fried pork chop bites, but my husband thought they were more like a delicious smoked pork belly. Either way, they were hot and yummy and you could see the smoke ring. The pulled pork was tender and juicy. The baked beans were spicy and one of our faves. The fries were cooked to perfection and the potato salad was decent. I think food is always based on personal flavor preferences. I would definitely eat here again. The waitress was sweet and very attentive. I loved the decor of the entire restaurant. Excellent parking with ramp and stairs to get inside. Plenty of tables with lots of space between. I wish we had restaurants like this in Sioux City. -

Great little joint. Awesome atmosphere and friendly staff. Food is top notch. Had a group of 6 and we hit the appies, try the combo beast platter, the mains and desert.
Had the brisket platter, just the right amount of smoke, spicy Mac n cheese was decent as was the potato salad. Southern pie aka chess pie was solid too.

This is the best place to eat in Iowa by far hands down. The staff is the absolute best there is. They are always friendly and willing to go above and beyond to make the experience perfect. Nancy is a perfect woman who bleeds the Herford through and through.

Despite the wait, the waitress was sweet polite. Food was great!

The women's restroom was low on toilet paper. But it was really good. And I'd recommended to anyone!

My sandwich was really good. The restaurant was very busy and very loud. Hard to have conversation.

They always greet you with a smile and hello! Quick to seat, and the foods amazing! Not completely overpriced either! You have to try the hotwings!

These guys are very consistent in their food quality and level of service. It is worth the 45 mile drive.

Great BBQ and sides including grandmas potato salad! Eat peanuts and throw the shells on the floor type of place! Prime rib on weekends.

Had smoke wings, very tasty!
Beer is reasonably priced.
Brisket was extremely tender.
Can't wait to try more menu items in the future. Will definitely come back. OH, forgot to mention service was on point.

Smoked prime rib was excellent. Very cool atmosphere and excellent service. I will definitely be back again.

Portions were plentiful, staff was quick and friendly and food was good. We always order cheese curds and they were good. My son ordered burnt ends with fries and spicy slaw, which he liked. He has a big appetite but there was enough for him to have leftovers. The cod bites had too much breading.

Service was Awesome! Our waiter was spot on! He kept our drinks full, very polite, and happy. Food was excellent, large portions, and delicious. Atmosphere has a rustic look, lots of nostalgia without over doing it. The kitchen works well together, and their attitude was cheerful. Did I mention our waiter was Awesome!

Great bbq! Had the sampler. It was delicious, the fist hot meal all week. We need to open the restaurant for sit down.

I had the wrangler sandwich, my husband had The Best of all Worlds, and my son had the briskit platter. All of the food was VERY good!!! Top notch BBQ!!! The service was friendly and the restaurant had a fun (a little noisy) atmosphere! I would definitely come to this restaurant again!!!

Rustic atmosphere. Great meat! BBQ, smoked, steak, chicken, and all the trimmings.
Lots of side dishes to choose from.

Great joint with good eats. It's a local run Texas roadhouse style eatery, that has some great bbq for the area. Dont forget to take down a silo while you visit!
