Hotel Julien Dubuque

The best lodging option in the greater Dubuque area. A good bit of history with modern and renovated facilities. Spa, restaurant, bar, pool, hot tub, fitness center, all in an ideal location with lots of local drinking and dining options near by. Their packages are probably the best values I’ve seen offered by a hotel or resort. I would recommend the spa-cation to anyone.

The location is great. Once you park, there's no need to get back in it until you leave! In walking distance of everything you could need. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Need suggestions of where to go? Just ask! Rooms were clean, and they even got a nice fresh robe in your room for you to wear. Will be coming back!!!

Our deluxe king room was on the 8th floor. Nice view. It was a beautiful room, full of old world charm. The in-room coffee was delicious. The location of the hotel couldn’t be beat. An easy walk to the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium, the Mississippi River Walk, and the Fenelon Place Elevator.

Perfect historical hotel in a beautiful little city. Dubuque has lovely historical buildings and the view of the river and the bluffs. The city itself is worth the visit and the hotel makes a comfortable and interesting home base.

I stayed there several times in the past when visiting Dubuque. Recently, I talked to front desk night worker named Ron. He was very nice guy, did a great job answering questions. Very nice guy

The Capone suite was phenomenal. It'll be difficult to stay in a standard room after experiencing such luxury and space.

Amazing lobby in this historic Hotel in Dubuque Iowa. If you're looking for a upscale hotel in downtown this is my favorite. Great service in the restaurant and from all the staff.

Loved the atmosphere and the hospitality of this hotel as well as the fun ambiance of the Riverboat Lounge with top notch cocktails and service!

Great service - Beautiful Old Hotel - Walking Distance to restaurants - bars - breweries. Easy parking in the hotel lot. Stay for breakfast or get a drink during happy hour at the bar.

Hotel Julien is truly a little piece of historic heaven!
It’s 200 years old! If you’re expecting to walk into a new place… this isn’t it! It’s cozy, warm, inviting and the staff is a dream: Dubuque is a little desolate and sketchy, but Buz coffee is fire, the views are spectacular! Illinoisan all my life, never knew we had hills that close! Galena is a hop skip and jump if you want more touristy, hallmark, chochkes. Eating?? Yay Ottos, Caroline’s is ok, SKIP Timmermans. What’s with the cornbread?

Beautiful hotel. If you go I suggest getting the brochure they have outlining some of the history. There are lots of places to sit and relax in the lobby and 2nd floor, where you can just take in the atmosphere. The room itself was nice, but in all honesty wasn't much different than most other hotel rooms. I am glad we spent the extra $ and stayed a night there instead of a cheaper place, and would like to go back again sometime.

Great weekend getaway! This is a very classy, clean and historic hotel with lots of amenities (including the spa). It is located downtown and within walking distance to the waterfront.

It is also very easy to rent an overnight boat slip in the Port Of Dubuque Marina and walk to the hotel - highly recommended.

We stayed at the Hotel Julien Dubuque for a business conference. It's a pretty nice, restored older hotel close to a lot of attractions in Dubuque. We had a great view of the harbor. Everyone from the front desk to our housekeepers were great to visit with. The food at our conference was pretty good too.

This Hotel is very pretty and the history behind it is amazing. I highly recommend this Hotel to anyone in Dubuque. There is an AL Capone Suite that is $850 a night. So cool. It is haunted so beware. Travel photographer from Galena, IL

Wow! The wedding we hosted on July 22, 2023 was AMAZING.
The FOOD was fanastic, the VENUE was absolutely beautiful and the SERVICE was awesome. Definitely recommend working with them!! All of our guests commented on these things again and again.
Nicole Link was great to work with on all the details. She gave us a tour of venue, worked out the details on price, blocked out rooms, and was super helpful during the wedding process. We did the per guest price and it worked out well.

Amazing historic hotel in downtown Dubuque. Great rooms with great views. The hotel restaurant was great, also plenty of restaurants in the same street to walk to.

Superb classic hotel! Lots of history here, and great service. Could not believe the cheap price considering the quality. Beautiful antique woodwork all over. Rooms are spacious and the location is great- lots of things to do downtown. The attached restaurant is delicious as well.

I had the best stay at Hotel Julien! The staff was friendly, the room was tidy and clean, and the view was excellent. I made a wrong turn upon arrival trying to find the parking lot, but that was more of a GPS issue and not something they could fix. I picked here to stay because of the Potosa Spa in house, but I would gladly stay here next time even without a spa appointment (for the record, I'm definitely getting another spa appointment next time). For a very reasonable price, I was blown away by how nice the hotel looked.

Absolutely fantastic experience with Hotel Julien as our wedding reception venue! Nicole was truly spectacular quickly answering many emails and phone calls leading up to our big day and nailing every detail! Pricing was fair and actually easy unlike other venues. There were no hidden charges and simply a price per head for a kind of all inclusive experience. There were different level tiers, but you could also customize what you’d like included (i.e. extra types of beer, hors d’oeuvres, specialty cocktails, etc). Most of our guests were from out of town, so Hotel Julien was the place to be all weekend. Nicole was kind enough to expand our hotel block when it filled up within the first couple weeks too! Drinks at the riverboat lounge and brunch at Caroline’s right at the hotel were both big hits and great gathering places for our guests. Also the location in the middle of down down made for easy and safe after hour bar hopping on foot. Cocktail hour in the upstairs atrium was an elegant start to the evening, followed by the classic ballroom plated dinner, and ending with a complimentary honey moon suite overlooking the Mississippi. Couldn’t have asked for a better wedding celebration!
