Barrel House

Conveniently located, with a wide-ranging menu, and a well appointed bar, the Barrel House is well worth a visit. Our servers were very competent and the food did not disappoint. The beer menu had some fine craft varieties to pair with the usual popular offerings. The rest rooms are modern and were well attended despite the large crowd. We have visited a few times prior and will most certainly be back to see them again.

They earned all 5 stars. Yes, I scored the service at 3/5 stars because they were understaffed and need to work on developing a culture where people want to work here. I get it, it's difficult, but others are successful at it (Chick-fil-A does it).

The food was amazingly good and very generous.

The service we had was amazing, but slow. It's not their fault, its due to lack of staff.

I will return as the earned 5 stars 🌟 easily.

My husband and I truly enjoyed our dining experience. Kim was our server, and she was absolutely great! We have been looking for a restaurant for our dinner dates that we can enjoy since we have not been very impressed with other local choices. We found Barrel House on Google maps and decided why not. We're glad we did! We had a great date. Kim did a wonderful job checking on us & making us feel welcome. We didn't feel rushed to leave and were able to enjoy our drinks and each other's company. They have a great selection of alcohol, including my husband's Scotch, which is hard to find in a restaurant with affordable prices. I really enjoyed the Royal Red Martini! We will be back, and we will be requesting Kim as our server!

Very friendly service. The food was complicated and out of the ordinary in a good way. Portions were large. I spent a couple hours visiting with friends and enjoyed it.

We happened to be traveling and decided to stop in for an early dinner on Valentine’s Day. Couldn’t be happier that we chose here! Wonderful service and great food. My husband (born and raised in the UK) has never enjoyed fish and chips since coming over here, but this got his seal of approval! Will definitely be back

We stopped by this evening after reading a review Anita wrote four days ago. She mentioned Kim was her server and we got lucky that we also got Kim today.

My wife and I are nervous to try new places because we don’t go out often and don’t want to risk a bad experience. We thought we’d try it anyway and are very happy we did! The food was good and the service was excellent! Give Kim a raise! She deserves it!

Food was good! Server was knowledgeable about their eatery here!! But this bufet probably the best one in Dubuque area.

First time trying and I'll be back. Walked in, got seated right away, and a server came and asked if we had any questions or wanted drinks. The server was knowledgeable and friendly and the drinks and food came out quick.

Everything was really good. I can easily recommend the Portabella Mushroom Sandwich, Boneless Wings, Red Bull Coconut Rum signature drink, and Bent River Hippie Sour beer. They dont skimp on the ranch either.

The Boneless Wings with Moonshine BBQ had an almost tangy not overly sweet flavor. The Hippie Sour had the perfect amount of sour and what tasted like a butterscotch finish.

I don't know how many places in Dubuque have Guinness, but this is one of them. That was a nice surprise. It doesn't taste like they serve much of it, but it was pretty good. Other than that, I had an order of simple chicken strips and fries, which were good. The service was always there when you needed it and was quite friendly.

Have been to Barrel House many times. This time I tried the Honey Chicken Salad Sandwich - really good! Have great service every time. Mixed drinks are hit and miss. Lots of options on the menu for food.

Good restaurant with good food and good service. Very clean and nicely decorated. Manager was very nice and helpful. Located downtown Dubuque Near five flags center. The quality of food was very good. I got the mushroom burger and it wasn’t the typical mushroom burger. It had big mushrooms! My wife got the chicken salad sandwich and it was huge! I don’t normally like the breaded French fries but the barrel fries were very good.

We first came here back in late August. Everything was awesome. Food is a little more expensive than what I'm used to, but it was worth it. Fast forward to a few days ago. We visit again. We're told it's going to be a 30 min wait to be seated. Then we're told they actually don't know when. They were very understaffed but doing their best. We opted to go elsewhere but I would definitely return. Unfortunate circumstances outside of their control, so I'm not going to punish them with this review and instead base it on the first time we visited. I commend them on being upfront with us!

Place is absolutely gorgeous and the food was spectacular. We had the Nashville tenders and the club with their soup of the day. It was all very tasty.

This was the first time we were there. The food was awesome! My husband had the Barrel Cheeseburger and I had the Firecrack Shrimp Tacos. The fries were also delish! Nice and crispy with a hint of salt! We'll definitely be back!

Great place to eat, we had a late "happy hour" appetizers and drinks. The music was way too loud we couldn't hear each other's converse, some people were singing so loudly and out of tune. But their service and food was great.

We dined here on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend - there weren’t a lot of options close to our hotel as many places are closed on Sunday in Dubuque downtown. We had a pizza which was good and more than enough for two, a chocolate bomb dessert which was okay. I tried a local (Dubuque) craft beer: 7 Hills Wonky Kong, which was fantastic. The service was lovely and fast.

Our son brought us here. He has eaten here several times and enjoyed it. He thought we would also. The food was good,I had the Chicken Caesar Wrap.

Really enjoyed this place. Parking is limited to the street or a parking lot out back. It is metered if you go before 5. Food was great.

Great food, great service. Didn’t catch her name, but it was her first week and she did fantastic. Helped us whenever we needed anything.

The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Our server was very friendly and offered lunch suggestions which were right on! The fish and chips were excellent!
