I have been driving back to Austin, Texas to my hairstylist since moving to Dubuque 9 months ago. Kayla with River City Hair Company changed that for me! She offers the level of service I am used to in bigger cities, while honoring the cool Millwork District vibe I've come to love here. She's small town, Midwest friendly, yet big city skills and expertise. She spent over an hour learning about my hair, my lifestyle needs and made recommendations based on her understanding of my hair type. Her technical skill and attention to detail are on point and reflect her 20 years of experience. You will love the beautiful space she's created, the yummy drinks, the quality of service, and the price point. I have thin, fine hair the flips in different directions. She achieved the perfect bob pictured with an undercut and cutting while wet, then again once dry. I can't wait to go back for a more daring cut now that I found my stylist in Dubuque. 100/5 stars!

I cannot recommend Kayla more highly! She is the best hair stylist I’ve ever had. Until Kayla, I never had a consistent hair stylist but her skill set and awesome personality made me a regular customer. I’ve been getting my haircut and colored from her for the past 3 years and have never been disappointed. She is a very talented and wonderful person!

River City Hair Company is an amazing salon!! The owner, Kayla is incredibly talented and passionate about what she does. She really takes the time to understand your vision and delivers amazing results.

When it comes to color, she is an artist! She listens to your own need's as well as takes into account your unique hair tones to bring out your best features. My latest appointment I had a hair glaze! I couldn’t believe the results. It added so much shine and depth and took my hair from lack luster to silky and beautiful.

I have had lots of haircuts from other salons, but Kayla’s talent for cuts is far and beyond the other stylists I have went to. She really takes the time to understand what you want. She pays attention to every single detail to make you look and feel your best! Plus, she told me, if I am not totally comfortable with my new cut to come back in a couple weeks and she will make adjustments to the style so I can feel my best self. You are not just a hair cut, but a person.

I highly recommend this salon for anyone looking for high-quality hair extensions. I have always wanted extensions and with her help, I was able to make that dream come true. She uses premium-high quality hair and also made sure to blend them seamlessly into my own hair!! I have always been insecure about my fine and thin hair, Kayla was able to achieve the hair I always wanted with extensions. It is by far my favorite experience at River City Hair Company!

Overall, the salon itself has a warm and inviting atmosphere. It's stylish yet cozy, making you feel right at home. The attention to detail and the level of care they provide is top-notch.

Kayla (owner of River City Hair) was my Madison stylist for several years before I moved across the country in 2015. Since then, I lived in three states and never found another stylist as good, willing to try new things, willing to talk me through how different styles would look with my hair type, and truly enjoyable to be around. I eventually just held off getting my hair done altogether outside of returning to Madison for family visits. I finally moved back to the Madison area last year (after 8 years away). She was still as good, if not better. She's always upskilling, always honing her craft, and still a fantastic human. I love Kayla's work so much that I'll be driving to Dubuque so she can cut and style it. If that isn't the highest praise possible, I don't know what is. I have no doubt any stylist in River City Hair will be fantastic because they're working with and learning from the best.

I had a haircut and beard trim from Kayla and it was a great experience! She was kind and welcoming, took her time, and was very meticulous on the finishing touches. The way the salon is decorated really adds to the whole experience, its vintage, yet has a modern feel to it. Plus, the location is very convenient. I would highly recommend River City Hair Co!

Kayla is so amazing! I booked a blonding level 3, and a haircut. She took the time to make sure I got exactly what I wanted for my color and haircut. She was very nice and we chatted throughout the session. She offered me drink and snack as well. I couldn’t be happier with my experience!

Kayla is absolutely phenomenal! I have been with Kayla for over 14 years and she simply is incredible. Kayla is definitely an artist who always listens to me and gives me honest feedback about whether something will work with my hair or not. She is excellent with styles, color, etc. In our house it’s a family affair. My parents get their hair done by Kayla and so have my children. I wish I could give Kayla 100 stars and not just 5!!

Kayla has been cutting my hair since 2008. She is the only stylist I have ever had for more 2 years in my entire life. Through different styles and hair issues, her versatility as a stylist, artist eye, and willingness to help you achieve the look you want are second to none. I was never disappointed in any of her cuts!

After years of trying to find the most skilled stylist for my exceptionally long THICK hair, I had finally found my perfect match! It’s been 15 years now, and I have never been disappointed in a cut, color or style. My kids have grown up with Kayla and actually refuse to go anywhere else. Aside from the perfect cut every time, they look forward to their time with her and catching up. She really has become apart of our family. It’s weird to think your hairstylist can be so impactful, but chosen correctly, they really can.

Kayla is amazingly talented. Truly. I found her in Madison after a long line of bad hair experiences. Not only did she fix my color correction beautifully but she’s now been my hair stylist for 2+ years. I’m genuinely sad to be losing her (kind of freaking out actually lol) but she’ll be gaining a lot of new, lucky clients.
