Hamilton County Treasurer's Office -- Drivers License is appointment only.

I called before going to know what to bring and they were very pleasant and answered all of my questions. I was in and out in ten minutes to update my license. The wait time in Ames is over 2 hours most of the time. The woman helping me was friendly and informative.

Had to call to get my truck unlocked. They were happy to assist. Then of course Sheri, (light color hair) had to get a photo of the 2 of use with cop car in back ground.😂🤣

Very quick and efficient with fair prices for taxes and plates.

Friendly people got the help I needed. I have had interaction with most department s here since moving to Hamilton county. Only complaint is drivers license department is a little small.

The first time I tried to get my license changed was before an election and no one was able to licenses. The second time, we were able to get appointments quickly and the lady was very helpful. The third time (4/2/2024) no one is answering the phone - even after repeated tries, so my husband is having to try to get his license renewed elsewhere.

As it turns out when we went in for an address change a year ago, my husband's CDL type was changed by the clerk in Hamilton Cty and he has been driving on an invalid CDL for a year. It is just lucky that he was never stopped or he would have had a horrendous fine.
