River Walk Trail

A great place for a level and relatively easy hike! Plenty of parking, restrooms at the trail-head, and a few places to sit or even enjoy a picnic lunch along the trail. It is just over a mile to the end of the trail where it meets the river, and about 2.35 miles over and back to the car. You might want to allocate at least 45 minutes before sunset to begin the hike.

A couple notes: the north portion of the trail doesn’t appear to exist in real life, so you simply need to follow the long way around to get back.

Also, where the south trail has a sharp turn, there is a small hidden path that takes you to a sandy beach! Not sure what the river water is like since there’s a sign that says no swimming. But it might be fun for some sandy fun. The trail is slightly more narrow and steep to the beach, but the view is definitely worth walking out that way if you can make the trek, especially near sunset! 🌤❤

Very nice walking, running, and biking. Dogs are allowed and there are covered picnic tables and some benches. Also, spread some trash cans. Walked this trail from Trooper Drive to Highway 77. Enough space of the parking lot and restroom. There are also a few trail access points to the river. I go here in the mornings to hike and run, and it is a very well-maintained trail. Throughout the trail, there are neat views. The trail is essentially a dirt road that is closed so very wide and level.

This is a gentle meandering trail along the Republican river. At around the one mile marker, there is a beach area . No swimming is allowed at the beach. It is the perfect place to get vitamin D. Bring a comfy chair, a good book, and kick back. The trail is packed with gravel. It is bicycle friendly and a perfect place to take a stroll or jog. Sitting benches are placed every mile (ish) for those needing a break. The trees provide a nice shade from the sun and winds.

Great day for a nice hike. Clearly marked trails, winds along the Republic River, terrific views.

Very nice walking, running, biking, horse riding scenic trail. Raging from an average of 4-9 feet wide. Dogs are allowed and there are covered picnic tables spread out throughout as well as some trash cans. There is also a few trail access points to the river.

Great place to walk or run. Wish the Dog owners would be responsible enough to pick their dog's droppings up or at least get it off the trail! Otherwise prohibit them!

Nice wide trail; good for strollers and bikes.

This trail is great; a surprisingly well kept trail in Junction City, Kansas. I'm a long distance runner and there is plenty of distance here so I don't have to do annoying down and backs or multiple loops to get a good 20 miles or more. It also allows for horse riders with plenty of room for people to pass them safely, or vice versa. Best place to run in town!

Nice trail and easy walk. There's no big holes or roots sticking out the ground so you can jog if you'd like as well. In the summer be aware of ticks and little snakes but other than that it's good.

Easy, level walking trail with some pretty neat views.

This is my favorite place near Fort Riley. You have a 10 mile, easy running trail, fishing and tons of flora and fauna to experience.

Nice path to walk/run along the river and clear your mind. I do not recommend using the restrooms here.

Very nice trail! No idea how far it goes. I went out 2 miles and turned around.

Its a great trail, mostly flat, heavily shaded, nice views of the river below with a nice river access point to the river and its sandy beach at about 1/2 mile into the walk. The only drawback is that-PLEASE-dog owners, pick up your dog's poop or at least kick it off the trail.

I go here often in the mornings to hike and run, and it is a very well maintained trail. Throughout the trail there are great views and you feel immersed in the nature around you. It's a great place to share a friendly nod with your fellow exercise enthusiast.

Flat well maintained trail along the river, ends at the Dam. About 9 to 9.5 miles.

I have walked , run , and rucked this trail many times. I have enjoyed the sights on every trip. The diversity of the trail through fields and wooded areas is awesome to me.

The River Walk Trail is great if you want to go for a run or just a leisurely stroll. So far, it is my favorite place to run on post.
