Fort Riley Hiking Trail by Moon Lake

Awesome lakeside parks and trails! Well maintained and lots of land to roam on with good fishing spots.

The loop trail is not well marked. Pay attention to the main trail sign. If you keep going straight and hit a field, you missed the loop trail. You can continue on to the outdoor chapel. The 'waterfall' is not well marked. Check the Google pics for someone who provided a graphic of it.

Trail is not well maintained. Vegetation is over overgrowing the trail in some areas. Be sure you wear long pants and sleeves for ticks and poison ivy.

Great trails for walking or bike riding. Depending on the time of the day you may encounter some wildlife as well. There are a few places where the trails open up and you have turkeys and deers 🦌 hanging around. The trail is 3.5 miles. Although, season dependent ensure you check yourself for ticks before getting back in your vehicle as the trails are very wooded.

Trails were terribly overgrown, however the area is beautiful, the view is amazing (from the top), and it was challenging!

This place holds special memories for me. Loved hiking the trails and the views were fantastic!
Only 4 stars because of the trash everywhere. Sucks that people aren't courteous enough to toss their garbage in the many many dumpsters. I picked up some but it would of taken a few hours.

This is a good trail for climbing inclines without gear. The reward for climbing up to the top is a telescope that gives you a perfect view of a bald eagle nest.
