Tampico Authentic Mexican Restaurant

Ate here for first time tonight. The salsa is not best I ever had but was good. Carne Asada was very good. Came with rice & refried beans. They offer military discount. Overall a great atmosphere and service! Loved the Christmas decor as well!

Went on a Wednesday evening and got their special for the day, pollo con cream. It was excellent - highly recommend! Great service from the staff, kept drinks full and checked in on the table regularly. They also offer a special on house margaritas, which is a pretty great deal.

We loved our server and had some great vegetarian fajitas! Usually we get just a bunch of onions when we ask for veggies, but this was an amazing mix. Server also checked with the cook and the refried beans and rice were not made with animal fat so we could enjoy them! And, Thursday was twofer margs...

My coworker said the entrees at Tampico are perfectly seasoned. We had steak tampiqueno and pollo asado which held up to our flavor standards. Thanks! We will be back.

Wow! 🎉 The food was super good. I can see why this place has such high reviews. Additionally the atmosphere was bright and colorful. The wait staff was also incredible except for one small infraction. The chicken chimichanga was a tad bit spicy 🌶 for my wife 💃 who is basically spice intolerant. The waitress assured her it wasn't. I had a bite -it wasn't spicy lol. But, if you're spice intolerant, don't go to good Mexican restaurants! 😂 Still five stars 😁

My wife and I have been guests in Leavenworth, KS, for several nights, and we opted for Mexican fare for our final dinner..

We opted for Tampico based on others' reviews, and we were certainly pleased with our choice..

Nestled into historic, downtown Leavenworth, and within walking distance of at least two hotels, Tampico lives up to their mission and vision statements that are included inside their menu..

We were seated and greeted reasonably quickly, and we decided to sample their two for one house margaritas.. The drinks were wonderfully refreshing and had a great balance between whatever tequila and other ingredients were used to assemble them.. We were off to a great start..

The thin and crispy chips were accompanied by a slightly spicy but smooth salsa, and we selected the small queso, too.. The starters were fantastic!!

My wife selected the chicken fajitas and was abundantly pleased.. I was drawn to the spicy chicken chimichanga and didn't regret my choice at all..

I will just say that Mexican fare is something we try nearly everywhere we go.. We found Tampico to be very good, high quality, and the service was spot on.. Aurora was very attentive over the course of our visit, and we never wanted (or waited) for anything..

10 out of 10 recommend for a solid Mexican-fare experience in historic downtown Leavenworth!!

Had lunch here for the first time today. Had the lunch fajitas. Food was great, and the woman who took my order was great as well. Definitely recommend and will be back! Thanks for a solid lunch.

August 5 visit. This place was right across the street from our hotel so it was nice to not need to drive to dinner with our four kids.
We were immediately seated and drinks were out quickly. I ordered shrimp tacos and my husband ordered a shrimp chimichanga. The kids ordered typical kid food, lol. The sauce for my tacos could seriously be bottled and sold for millions of dollars. I don’t know what’s in it but it’s amazing!
Everyone loved their meals. I also had a blueberry margarita and my husband tried the raspberry margarita. They were both good but we agreed the raspberry was best.
I love the laid back atmosphere here and the staff seems to enjoy working here. They also looked fully staffed which seems rare these days at restaurants struggling to keep employees on hand. This place seemed anything but struggling. It was a nice breath of fresh air to dine here.

Hands down one of the best places in Leavenworth to go for Mexican food. The staff is always so friendly the food is so fresh and the beer selection is very nice.

100/5 stars!! The service here was the best I have ever experienced in any restaurant, ever. Our waitress gave special attention to our 3 y/o son and answered his questions. She went over and above on everything! Our waters were always full, there was more chip baskets than people and the salsa is out of this world! The staff at the front door were so kind and other wait staff even wished us a great night and thanked us for coming in. The food was wonderful. They have two kinds of rice, both great, Gave options for the sides of beans, and the portions were huge. I really cannot speak any higher of the service. Honestly. I have never been somewhere so courteous. Their location is directly across from a hotel (where we were staying) anyone staying at that hotel would do well to come here!!

This is easily a favorite spot for the team to gather for lunch. From the service to the food, it'd always top notch. We've never had a bad meal here!

Nice place in Leavenworth - the food was great. I had the pollo asado and it was very well prepared. Chips and salsa along with refried beans are how I gauge a restaurant and their beans were fantastic! The chips had just the right amount of salt and the salsa was good too.

They were well staffed and nobody was sitting around waiting to order

The food was great. The salsa is awesome; not toooo much onion or cilantro as sometimes you get.

The waiter was friendly.

My tacos were delivered fast and hot.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff and good food. Surprised at the sweetness of the tea this far north but was good sweet southern tea. Large portions and a lovely little downtown area

We brought family from out of state here and had a blast! Food was amazing, the service was exceptional and the atmosphere was perfect.

Tampico had both good food and service. I would not call it authentic Mexican food by any means, but it does give customers a midwestern, Kansas twist to Mexican food. The sopapillas were very good!

It’s been 15 years since I’ve been in the area but I decided to stop by on my cross country road trip. The food is just as I remembered it, excellent!
