I stopped in the park early this morning and temps were in 20s. Nonetheless I enjoyed the view at the overlook and checked out the tobacco curing barn. Also saw a deer cross roadway in front of me and disappear into the woods. Very cool visit, pun intended.

Glad to have used All Trails to find the parking lot closer to the overlook. On 10/17/23 the upper canopy of the West Ridge Trail, while following the river has tons of color. The interior part of the loop coming back on the Harpst Trail was much more green. First time here, but surely not our last!

Easy hike trail if you’re an avid hiker. And there’s no fee for entering the state park! There are options for various trails to get some longer distance in your workout, multiple options such as 1mile loop or 5 miler when connecting trails. There was a family walking it with their little girl and they didn’t seem to have any issues in their sandals. Also the scenic overlook is beautiful. The views are great during end of summer early fall.

Very nice state park. Lots of hiking trails and the trails are nicely marked. The campground / campsites are spread out and nestled in the trees.

I really love this place - great trails and views of the Missouri River, close proximity to Weston, camping options, etc. I've been in all seasons and it always has something to offer. If you're into birding, there are a plethora of bird species to discover. The campgrounds are nice and I really enjoyed my experience camping there recently (site 26).

We took the paved trail with a two year old on his bike and a baby in a stroller with jogging trail tires. It is paved but it has rocks, sticks cracks roots so I am not sure that little plastic wheels would do well. It is mostly shaded which was sooo nice. It is a good bit of up and down and has some spots my bike kid walked up or down rather then using the bike because it was very steep. We needed a good bit of water and snack breaks but we all finished. (He does ride daily so although he was exhausted by the end he could make it so if your child doesn’t maybe an extra stroller would be good.) it was a beautiful trail and we look forward to doing it again!

This park is amazing for hiking. Not only does it have something for every level of hiker but it is quiet and peaceful. I'm not sure if we just went on a slow day but for a Saturday you would expect loads of people and chaos. This was not the case. Since we don't live too far from this State park this will become a recurring hiking spot. Looking forward to what Autumn brings.

Lovely, popular, well maintained trail system. Paved and dirt options both. Family friendly. Beautiful spot for fall colors. Good range of distances for walking. I brought my adventure cats and was very happy to see that all the dog owners kept their pups on leashes unlike other places with posted leash laws. Will be back for the well reviewed campground. Nice that restrooms and water fountains are provided. Parking does get full on the weekends. One area does and the other dies not allow overflow parking along the road. Appreciated that the state park allowed free admission.

Everything is in good repair. Well groomed parkway. Off lease dog parks. Many trails. Paved and rough. Reasonable prices. Showers closed for season.

I love this place! Campsites aren’t too expensive and fantastic walking trails. It’s also nice that it’s so close to downtown Weston to grab dinner/drinks if you want. Don’t forget to see the scenic overlook! It’s worth the short drive to the end of the park and is a very short distance from the parking lot

Always love going here. So peaceful, as you look around, you are able to see the river in certain spots, and more so as the trees lose their leaves. The people have always been friendly when we do cross paths with others. So beautiful to go out and look at the colors of the leaves change during the fall months. The walking trails are good to just walk or take a bike and enjoy riding down them. Dogs enjoy coming her as well.

This is an awesome place to walk in the woods, breathe in some fresh air, and grab a spectacular view of the Missouri from the bluffs and look out at the edge of the park. A great day trip for the family and friends. It’s a place I like to visit just to walk in the trees and clear my head. They have individual camp sites and event space for large groups as well. A little oasis close to Kansas City! You have to try it.

I stopped here while visiting our family in St. Joseph's. as with any visit to the in laws sometimes a little escape can do wonders to both you and them, and this was it for me.
I drove down and took a hike out the Missouri River over look and took another short hike. All was very enjoyable. I also checked out the campground which looked like a great place to stay and the restroom were very clean.
For an overnight or day trip I would recommend.

Located 15 minutes from Kansas City is Weston Bend State Park. A great place for family time, camping, trails and more. For me this is one of the best places to go for a quick day trip and great hiking. The many photo opportunities at Weston Bend seem to never end. Even the drive out here is a beautiful panoramic envy of highs and lows. Autumn offers the best scenery in the area as shades of red, orange, brown, and green flow through the tree tops as if they were painted by the Gods themselves. Be sure to visit the scenic overlook for amazing views that allow for one of a kind family pictures. Free to the public as always, this place is definitely five stars.
