Gene's Heartland Foods

Of the many things about Gene's I like is the meat department. They get that not everyone has a large household. Their small serving meat packaging is great for singles and/or seniors.

Good prices on many items. Nice supply of goods. The staff was very friendly. Nice grocery store!

Mostly groceries are available even I am a vegetarian and I get alloat stuff for me from this store, so its best.

Ribs were excellent! Pre ordered 4 racks as we were having guests over. They were the absolute best!

Boy, am I glad this store os here! Good meat selection and pricing, friendly, helpful staff, and dynamite ice cream. The deli fried chicken's pretty good, too.

This is a small locally-owned store with people from the community who work here and I find it very appealing. They take pride in their store. And I enjoy shopping there, the prices are reasonable and they have fairly decent variety of choices. It is not a large chain store and I would rather shop there than anywhere else

Gene's always has surprising items and special purchases. You never know what you'll find there along with your basic grocery items. This store is a real boon to Wamego. The Deli has good hot meals at lunchtime, and the fried chicken is delicious.

Clean store, friendly and helpful staff. Location easy to access. They have their own awesome bakery and meat department as well as a deli! Chester's Fried Chicken is always fresh. They sell locally made products, lottery tickets, stamps and have a copy machine.

I Dont know who the young gentleman with reddish hair is that worked the register today around 1:30 but he is awesome. Give that man a raise.

Just as I remember it was. Always kinda homey and super friendly. They've got a deli with all the fixings. Pretty much anything you'd be in the market for! :0
They also have quite the selection of groceries, including a hardware store (my favorite spot) and pretty much anything you'd ever want to buy, rent and or steal. (just joking) ;) (in a grocery store thst is)
And the name Heartland should tell ya enough. Except, it is in Rossville, where apparently, " Only Rossville likes Rossville" (quote from the liquor store sign in town) "I laughed" & repeated to several people.
If you're traveling on Hwy 24, between Manhattan KS & Topeka KS; need groceries and haven't already stopped at the many great grocery stores along your route, try this one. You'll be pleasantly surprised. I know I was a few years back. :~o

Loved this Grocery Store in the middle of nowhere, Wamego!!! Had everything I needed and no self check out, had real employees! This is one of those gems you run across in life!

Great grocery for a small town. Has everything the big stores 20 minutes down the road do, but you don’t have to drive as far to get. Staff is always nice and professional.

Best selection of meats just wish they could bring back beef brisket that they sell already cooked

Clean and well organized. Good selection of most common products with store and alternative brands (smaller/local/regional brands most likely).

The Deli is the best! Bought a smoked brisket today, and it was perfect. A big hit with my guests. I've shopped at Gene's for years, and it's an asset to Wamego.

They have the best potatoes. They last a really long time. They carry water softener salt year round. The staff are excellent.

This is my hometown store. My only source of food for the last year due to Covid-19. Thankyou to everyone who works here. Great place to buy your food.

The staff is really helpful, especially Dana. He always makes sure I can find everything I am looking for. The meat and produce are fresh too.
