Kyoto Japanese & Sushi Bar

I've never had a bad experience here. The owner taught herself how to make sushi and will make anything you want. If she doesn't know how to make something, she'll look it up and teach herself. She's really amazing. And it's a family owned business, so supporting your local people is a plus. I've also tried nearly all of the sushi places in Lawrence and nothing has compared to their sushi so far. I'm completely impressed.

Fantastic, Mahi Mahi and Hawaiian Sushi in pics, can share the Hibachi plates. Very good food. Building isn't super fancy, however you have to try it, do not drive by, if Hibachi or Sushi is your thing. On par with all the big places in Kansas City and it's hidden in Topeka on 29th st. All it is high quality and a bargain price for the sushi quality and homemade sauces, etc.

Great food. May need to work on the atmosphere a little bit. Love the owners..

Absolutely amazing food. From the crunchy sushi rolls to the ginger dressing, everything was top notch. The proprietors were genuine and personable and very helpful. She even helped me get my take home into the box. The place was clean and the atmosphere was warm. I would definitely recommend Kyoto to anyone who asks.

Large portions of delicious quality food! We ordered steak, chicken, and shrimp with vegetables and cooked sushi...it was amazing! The owners are wonderful people, too! Give them a chance, you will not be disappointed! I only wish I would’ve tried their restaurant sooner, it is for sale!

Excellent family owned Japanese restaurant. A hidden delicacy in Topeka. Good and quality is fantastic. This small restaurant easily keeps up with the larger Japanese hibachi's. Food is not prepared in front of you, which I personally like, but quality is still great. Full Japanese menu. Sushi is very good as well. Have only been one time, but will definitely be returning often. Especially for date nights as the portions are large and can easily be shared between two people.

The absolute best service - SO kind and just happy to serve us. The food was freshly made and tasted awesome. Portions were huge and we left feeling like we didn’t pay enough. Excited to go back just to support this woman’s business!!!

Just had dinner with my wife for Valentine's day. Food was amazing and even though they were very busy our waitress was amazing and very pleasant. Because of the rush we also received free melon sangria sodas which was great. Very home like feel and I will be sure to recommend it.

Best kept secret in Topeka. Food was perfect with great taste, consistency was spot on with the vegetables being a primary focus of mine as most times they are either over or under cooked. Plate presentation was fantastic lending a visual appeal that did nothing but augment the wonderful and flavorful bouquet of the food. The extensive Sushi menu was a great surprise and tasty as well. Wait staff was very attentive and engaging making the ambiance complete. Easy a five star dining experience.

Good food ! Sushi and egg rolls are awesome! Nice people, place is clean, a must try this place is very unknown it's tucked in next to a car lot and taco Bell wish I would found it sooner. The taco Bell line was long...... 😕 gross. Little do they know a half a block away they have real food!

The food was spectacular. I had the "Seafood pick two" dinner meal with shrimp and scallops. The shrimp and scallops were amazingly tender and very large. The meal comes with soup (broth with green onions and mushrooms). It also comes with a ginger salad topped with flash fried potato strings, something I'd never had before and it was delicious! It added a deliciously subtle and nutty crunch. Surprisingly, the meal also included rice noodles as well. There was so much food!

We got three sushi rolls. The Hawaiian, the Dynamite, and the Volcano roll. The presentation was beautiful and they tasted amazing. Our favorite was the Volcano roll. It had a spicy seafood bake on top of the rolls that was to die for.

Our server was so kind and caring. She even turned the TV to cartoons for our kiddos and made special pinwheel folded napkins for them. They even brought out some complimentary bottles of Japanese soda pop for us to try.

We will DEFINITELY be returning to Kyoto again.

One of the best Japan grills I’ve been to as far as the food is concerned. I had the sirloin teriyaki, huge plate, my wife fell in love with the sushi, and my sons kids meal was big as well.
The little family that owns and operates it, were soo nice, and made us feel like family. Not very busy, and it’s a shame more people haven’t found this place.

Dinner was exquisite! Had there sukiyaki steak dinner; the salad was simple but with a delicious dressing, the portions and quantity were amazing for the price. I don't think I've ever been somewhere, before this, in which I felt like I was truly getting my money's worth!

We tried it for the first time today and I was impressed with the quality of the sushi..my husband's hibachi was delicious and the portion was huge. Will definitely go again. The owners were friendly and very welcoming great experience

Great food, nice, cozy, hole in the wall kind of place. One of those hidden treasures of Topeka. My wife and I love a restaurant by the same name in KC (no affiliation) that is 2X as expensive, and this place is hands down better! Already trying to plan out a time to go with others to show them this place!

This place is always AWESOME! The owner comes out and takes care of people personally, which is more than I can say for most places. The food is stupendous, the service is always excellent and the atmosphere is quaint and comfortable. Five stars all the way.

AMAZING sushi. I've been to sushi restuarants all over the world, and this one is truly unique. They make their sauce using a secret family recipe which makes a huge difference in the taste. The service is great, the staff are really friendly, and the rolls are extraordinary. Will definitely eat here again.
