Tara's Cafe and Malt Shop

After reading through a bunch of reviews I decided to make my own. I have been going here for years, and the food has always been great and served hot and made to order. I think a lot of the poor reviews come from a higher expectation versus the reality. This is a small town staple, old style diner. It's not a Michelin star restaurant. The staff is always happy to see you, and after you visit a few times, they know you by name. The price is more than fair for a fresh cooked meal. Don't believe me, compare it to your favorite fast food place.

Small town appeal at its finest! The food was fresh and well prepared. Staff was super friendly. I would definitely suggest stopping in for lunch, pie or even some delicious ice-cream if you are in town. Clean and cozy place for burgers and shakes.

Old Town Cafe, a great reduced menu, breakfast, burgers, shakes, malts. After you get done with your meal, take a stroll down our Old Main Street. Great photo ops, antiques, micro brewery.

Delicious food & friendly staff!

Great little diner with terrific food and friendly people. The corn dogs are fantastic! So, are the onion rings and tater tots. And, it's connected to an antique store, which is one of my weaknesses. I'll be back.

Fantastic food. Burgers are great. The Cherry limeades beat Sonic hands down. A must go to place in old downtown Belton.

Great Cafe atmosphere, menu has excellent options... they even have a black bean burger! Definitely recommend!

Nothing fancy at all. A little corner cafe on Main Street in smalltown USA. The menu is simple.... basic hamburgers, grilled cheese, French fries, chili dogs, etc. But the food is good. I really like their frito chili pie. And when can you ever go wrong with ice cream?? Cones, shakes, malts, sundaes. The problem is choosing.

One of my all time favorite places! There is no where in Belton that you can eat that is this good. I always stop by when I go through town. They were next to an old pharmacy that is no longer there in the old downtown area. I always get the patty melt and a chocolate malt! Yummmm!

Everyone who works here is so nice . The food and milk shakes/malts are yummy.

Tara's is a wonderful, friendly place to eat with competent staff and delicious food. Trena is my favorite waitress. Once when I ordered a pie, they made it special for me and it was ready on time and was fresh and delicious.

If you haven't been this is your sign to go. Food is homemade and delicious. The tenderloins are amazing and the employees are super friendly. Support small businesses!!

All I can say is that we were walking by and saw the Nehi Peach sign out front. Being that Nehi Peach is the greatest of all soda pops, I was thrilled to discover that Tara’s is basically a Nehi Peach themed Cafe and Malt Shop. They have plastic bottles and 12 packs but not glass bottles yet. Those come from a bottler in NC (I believe) but if Tara’s Cafe can get those too it would be the ultimate Nehi Peach destination anywhere! It was late afternoon so we didn’t eat anything but we heard their food is great too!

Absolutely love this little mom and pop place. Simple menu but reminds me of my childhood. The biscuits and gravy are almost as good as momma used to make! The fresh potatoes with onions are delicious! I haven't eaten lunch there yet but next time I go in there, that's definitely on the list. They have fresh pies, hand made shakes, malts and now serve frappes and various cappuccinos! Our bill was $19 for 2 people and so filling! We had the french toast and it was full of flavor!! Definitely try them out!!

Best hometown breakfast and lunch spot. Allways good.

Great old “Mom & Pop” type breakfast place. My wife would love it. Stopped with a big bicycle group & everyone enjoyed the food & service.

Tara's Cafe never disappoints. I've ordered several menu items and I've been pleased every time. The staff is incredible, you get a warm welcome and a smile when you walk in. If you're looking for a good bite to eat and a little change in your everyday lunch come check out Tara's on main street.
