J D's BBQ

Unassuming and great fare. The brisket sandwich was great. Although at the end of the evening, everything we had was great. Peanut shells on the floor, wide beer selection, and TVs playing games, yet not at all rude. Since we're old, and had been munching during our LONG road trip, we split a sandwich. Not only did they not hit us with a "splitting" fee, our server happily understood, split the samo for us, and served everything (the sides) on two plates. Good vibe. Good food. Kudos.

We visited March 21st My husband and I wanted something other than truck stop food for our 2nd anniversary. and found this gem during a snow storm (we're truck drivers).

We ordered the meat platter combos. I ordered the chicken and pork. He ordered brats and brisket with beans, Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes and corn bread. The food we ordered was AMAZING and the wait staff was so friendly. My husband ordered drinks at the bar and were talking to them and the owners about how great it was. We wound up chatting with them till they closed! Lol

Overall it was such a great environment and experience. We can't wait to get another delivery that way and go back!

Absolutely the BEST BBQ EVER!! The brisket rivals anything Texas has to offer. You don't even need sauce. The smoke flavor is outstanding! And the mashed sweet potatoes?? To die for!!!

I'm currently taking time for myself to just figure myself out. However, I can tell you this much for sure. The owners of this business have an incredible amount of passion. They have an amazing amount of experience with making good food. Their menu, is wide ranging. I know that this place is the product of love. That is what matters most. If you haven't heard of it, they have this amazing sandwich called the Western. It's amazing.

We had an awesome lunch. The food was excellent and the service fantastic. It was fun throwing peanut shells on the floor. Our waiter knew the dishes well. I always like to ask what they recommend. Our waiter suggested chicken wings. I loved them.

Better dine it perhaps then take out. Best fresh. Jalapeño Parmesan Burger was just excellent. Be warned— an “extra large” has four large patties— I wouldn’t of got this in store if I’d have known. But such as the risk of delivery. Delicious nonetheless

Awesome hospitality and customer serves. The food was worth the money but was a little over priced in my opinion. Could be a $3.00 to $5.00 less on some items. Outdoor seating was good but the deck could be a little updated in some spots. The deck had some spots that where bowing down and the ends where sticking up causing a tripping hazard.

This is a great little BBQ joint with a good bar in Dickinson! Grab a bucket of peanuts to munch on while you're waiting on your food. Just throw the shells in the floor … my kinda place! BBQ had great flavor, very little fat, and as tender as you can get. Beans had a rich smoky flavor with lots of meat in it. Coleslaw was very unique and very good. Served with tasty cornbread. They also have their own BBQ sauce. If you love BBQ, you need to check this one out!

After a day at the badlands we stopped at JD’s bbq on our way home feeling very hungry craving some good food. And the place delivered, everything was delicious from the baked beans and pasta salad, to the pulled pork and one of the best smoked briskets your gona find. Just melted in your mouth soft tenderness.

We sat at the bar. Preston was the best experience we’ve had at JD’s in a long time. Lately service has been not as good. Today we gave it a shot with our family and Preston did not disappoint. So grateful we came back! Thank you!!!

Best BBQ brisket I have had outside of Memphis and Texas! I would highly recommend this! Place was hopping and busy but that didn't affect the service or the food. On a side note; my thoughts and prayers go out to the lady who fell on the way out as I was going in.

Great service from Erin, really good food (huge helpings). A few nit picks, like $3 up charge for Mac n Cheese and only one side on the 4 meat plate. Otherwise it was a great meal and I will return of back on Dickinson

When traveling, we make a point to check out local restaurants. When I came across JD's BBQ on Google and saw the no BS responses to picky patrons, we said we had to check this place out. We were not disappointed. There was a huge beer selection which my husband appreciated. They do the "here's a bucket of peanuts, just throw the shells on the floor" deal which we appreciated for our messy 2 year old. We both ordered a single meat platter and the portions were huge! I was really loving my pulled pork until I tried the hubby's brisket and then I was torn between them, both so delicious! And truthfully I never like cornbread, usually just leave it on my plate, but I decided to give it a whirl here and OMG I'll be dreaming about it for days to come. If we are ever out on I94 by Dickerson again, we will be stopping here!

The gentleman from the hotel recommended us to have dinner here when we asked for suggestion. So we went there.

I ordered two meats meal with brisket and ribs. They might look dry in the picture but they actually were so tender and moist. I love the brisket but I love the ribs more. The meat of ribs was so tasty even without bbq sauce. I also like the mashed sweet potato side.

The service was good as well. I will go there again if I have chance to travel there.

We had pulled in from a long day of driving and found this friendly, unassuming spot. The food was fantastic (the smoker outside said it all) and the selection of beers was impressive, with local and familiar selections. The service was absolutely top notch!

Traveling and stopped here on the way out and back. Great bbq sauce purchased a bottle to take home. First time ribs and chicken, second time ribs and "brat." Where I come from what they call a brat is actually a kielbasa.

We enjoyed lunch in the banquet room. Great place for about 15 people. We came on their Taco Tuesday and enjoyed a combination of chicken, carne asade, brisket, fish, and shrimp tacos. My favorite is always their brisket and shrimp. Our waitress, Hayley, went out of her way to serve us! I come here whenever I am traveling through the area.

Hands down the best Chili Burger I've ever eaten! JD's BBQ pulled out all the stops with this fantastic blend of homestyle chili, smoked all beef patties, nostalgic Mac & cheese, and good old cheddar! Their brisket baked beans were top notch with the perfect balance of brown sugar sweet and savory smoked brisket. I will definitely make more trips to this gem in the north!

Food was excellent. Drinks were delicious. Service was great. Fun casual atmosphere. Went during a rush when they were really busy but they took our order & got it out to us quickly. So happy with our experience that we bought a t-shirt & hat to support our new favorite BBQ spot. Will definitely be back! I would post pics but the food looked & tasted too good to wait on fumbling with a cell phone. The pics wouldn't do it justice anyway. 10/10 recommend 👌 👏 👍
