The Paddle Trap

This restaurant ticks all the boxes. High quality food, service, and the ambience is unique. Great for groups as well as solo. The balcony igloos are fantastic, and the accommodations made for children are special as well. Everyone very much enjoyed their meal for brunch and on a second visit I discovered they very much know how to cook a steak! Reasonable pricing, and worth the visit. The view is an unforgettable dining experience.

I had a Rueben sandwich, ice cream and a 1919 root beer. Everything I ate was above expectations. We shared the food so all four of us could sample the dishes. Everyone was happy with every thing each of us tasted so safe to say food was outstanding. Service was incredible. Staff was helpful, friendly and skilled. I felt the outstanding service was what tied our incredible experience together. We ate outside on the patio within a couple of feet of the Missouri River which was an incredible experience think about how many famous people in American history passed within 100 yards of where we were sitting. Wonderful experience!

Enjoyed a delicious dinner in a heated Igloo. I was pleasantly surprised to find a few blankets and board games were provided. The games helped with entertaining our 5 yr old while we waited for food. Service was excellent! Over all I would give this igloo adventure 2 thumbs up!!

Everything about this place was amazing. Awesome breaded and Cajun walleye and fries. We were too full for dessert, but we went back later for the chocolate smores with a side of ice cream and wow!!! So good. We will be back here for sure.

We had our rehearsal/groom's dinner here and reserved the upstairs space. It was wonderful! Such a nice space to be able to use for our group! I would recommend them if you are needing a private space for a larger group.

Every time we come to Bismarck, whether it be for a day, a weekend, or a week - we're here at least once.

A nice place hidden behind a neighborhood and along the Missouri Headwaters. They feature American food of burgers, tenders, etc. Our party sat outside along the patio edge. The first floor does not feature umbrellas on the River side so it can get quite hot. The other side and second floor patio seats do feature umbrellas. The inside seating is very wheelchair accessible but to get outdoors there are large rugs or potential trip hazards to consider. There is a small dock area kids and others can venture on. They also have a toy box of free items for kids!

They will host food trucks as well with seating for that and the parking lot is very large to accommodate events.

I got the River S'more, which was very delicious but also rich. It is a lava cake with a marshmallow on top with Graham cracker pieces. The marshmallow was balanced really well with the darker chocolate elements of the cake.

Had my bridal shower at the paddle trap and absolutely loved it. I planned with Payton and she was super helpful and organized. Couldn’t have had a better experience here! Highly recommend!

It’s a limited menu but honestly everything is top notch. The drive to the location is weird but the atmosphere of the location is so relaxing and welcoming. Love that there is something for everyone. Their drink menu is also unique and are very good mixes.

Came here for brunch on Sunday for the first time and couldn't believe this place wasn't busier! Whan an awesome and beautiful space. Staff and service were great, the food and coffee were good, and you can't beat the patio with the fall morning sun next to the river. I will definitely be back during the week with my laptop to sit have coffee/lunch and check out the live music on Thursday nights as well!

I didn't see the regular lunch/dinner menu, but I do wish the brunch menu had more breakfast forward options. I had the vegetables with eggs (and it was good!) but that seemed to be the only breakfast option without meat that didn't lean more towards being regular lunch fare. It did have a lot of flavor though so even though I normally don't like to return to a place and get the same thing in favor of trying something new, I would order it again.

Great experience with good food! Definitely was a bit skeptical with sea food but it was way better than I expected. Also the drinks were great and not just filled with sugary syrup and all less than $10. They have indoor seating that’s pretty much always available and the outdoor seating almost always has a wait to be seated. You can wait with drinks on the patio- you just need to ask!

Most of the food was delicious. The bar has plenty of outdoor seating. There are games inside for the kids.

Very fun environment both inside and on the decks. Good food (street tacos are bomb) and drinks are yummy. Service was great and our waitress did awesome. 👍🏻👍🏻

Place is great, right on the Missouri River..Food and drinks were exceptional. Live Music the night I went. Not loud, that you couldn't hold a conversation.. I had the Cajun Alfredo, with Chicken and Andouille sausage ..Very good..

WOW, FANTASTIC!!!!!! Beautiful aesthetic & atmosphere, delicious food, AMAZING SERVICE!!!! Andrea was our server and she was THE BEST! We had the cheese curds, so crispy and not too greasy, the boneless wings with the decadent hot honey and delectable Japanese BBQ sauce. We also had burgers cooked to perfection (we did ask for a little pink and didn’t get any, but that’s okay because they were still so tasty, not dry at all,) and the fries were nice and crispy but still on the chunky side, and perfectly seasoned. We got the rotating seasonal cheesecake for dessert, which this week was a peanut butter cheesecake with chocolate crust and Skrewball caramel drizzle, MMMMM!!!!! Reasonably priced, amazing service on a somewhat busy Sunday afternoon, and just gorgeous views by the river. Wow!

Awesome time, great food and good drinks!! We brought the entire hockey team there and we had amazing service. Food was fast, the upstairs room was perfect for our large group. Cannot wait to go back next time we are in town!

Some of the best food I have had on my work trip. Very flavorful and the view isn’t bad either!

We’ve eaten at The Paddle Trap numerous times over the years and always have excellent experiences. The brunch chicken and waffles is always our go to or the spicy chicken sandwich with Mac and cheese (add a side of Buffalo if you like it spicy). The decor is so warm and welcoming and the staff are awesome. Beautiful views and great seating choices. If you’re in the area, you have to try a meal here!! 12/10.

Great spring, summer, and fall location to spend some time or have a nice meal. It has everything including a dock for meal pick ups and a marina to park your boat. It has amazing views and many decks with tables to enjoy the fresh air. Beautifully decorated and comfortable atmosphere.
