South Star Diner

I ate all but 2 shrimp a little over cooked. But the lighthouse scampi scallops shrimp dried tomatoes over pasta of choice. Very busy on Sunday afternoon. Parking hard to find but keep trying . Worth it

Stopped in during lunch hour on a Sunday afternoon. The place was packed, but luckily it was only a five minute wait, and I really enjoyed the overall experience. Great pacing for the flow of diners, as employees were doing a good job cleaning up after people were done eating. Waitress was super nice, attentive, not making me feel rushed either. Plenty of wait staff kept checking on the table. Food was so good and great portion sizes. Home fries were delicious, not greasy or dry. The pumpkin waffle was cooked to perfection. This is what a true Jersey diner should be like. Definitely recommend!

I love a good diner. And this is just that. Great selection of diner classics in the huge novel of a menu. Early bird specials, daily specials, fresh homemade soups all add up to a great meal. Service was great, very friendly and personable. They have a counter or booths in the cozy clean dining room. The homemade chicken soup was very tasty, as was the tuna melt. I opted for the comfort classic hot open turkey dinner. It came with soup and dessert for less than $20! It was great. Just what I expected and wanted from a diner. Desserts were great as well. The rice pudding was yummy as was the canoli cheesecake.

Came here late at night for a bite to eat, and wow this place surprised me. The waitress was super pleasant and was so good to us. Everything was hot, fresh and very quickly. Nevertheless the diner was busy at 9 pm but still had no wait.

Therefore I knew this was the place to be.

The food was a great amount and I even had leftovers. When I'm in the area next I stopped by, the place was so small but had a great personality and it was a great deal. Hopefully it's not too busy at dinner time.

Delicious food very hot and affordable for everyone. Huge menu! 24 hours 7 days a week. Great Staff! Great soup and cake, don’t skip it… if it’s too much food to eat take it with you! Buy a whole cake or a slice. Nice fireplace. Completely renovated a while back, if you haven’t seen it go there looks great! The bread is delicious that comes with dinner, soup or salad, and a choice of like three desserts.
No complaints. You are always satisfied. Dinner was great, breakfast was great, and I had a cheeseburger with fries last time! Perfect 🤩 I always leave with a piece of strawberry cheesecake.

We live in the area, and we were looking for different diners for breakfast. We decided to choose this diner because the rating was good. We had breakfast omelettes. I had the cheese steak omelette, and my wife had the Spanish omelette. My omelette was delicious, and my wife was not too fond of her omelette as it was not the traditional Spanish omelette she had become accustomed to. We let our waitress, who was simply the best, know about my wife's displeasure. The waitress spoke with her manager, and he was very sorry for our experience and did not charge us. Instead, they allowed my wife to order something else on the house. I thought that was so nice. We are looking forward to going back because the menu and the service are outstanding!

I appreciate this restaurant for almost always being accurate with my order. My diet is very restrictive (gluten free), so I get their burgers without the bun. I appreciate them making sure that it comes out without the bun! (My options for eating out are very limited due to other restaurants not being careful with my orders, as I get sick from cross contamination with wheat products. So it's a relief to have a restaurant that's safe for me to eat at.)

They have very friendly staff and they're always very focused on the customer's needs. Food is delicious and a good portion size for the price.

Clean place, comfy environment, absolutely friendly staff. The food was top notch and very price friendly. Miss Carol was our server and was very friendly and professional. The selection of different cakes would make anybody's sweet tooth scream for more. There's plenty of parking for easy access and very clean bathrooms. I would love to stop back again sometime in the near future and enjoy another scrumptious breakfast served by the best server this side of the Mississippi Miss Carol. Thanks South Star diner for the hospitality and delicious food.

This was a first time for me and my hubby to try here & We were both very impressed with everything. He ordered breakfast for dinner, 3 eggs over easy with sausage. and I had the Jack Daniels chopped steak with mashed potatoes, turkey gravy and broccoli. It was the best I’ve had aside from my own. Thank you for a great meal and dining experience. We will be back.

Really, really delicious! Been meaning to check it out for a while and finally made it in for a late lunch. Reuben was the best I've ever had! Nice portions, juicy meat, perfectly grilled bread and hot crispy fries to go with it.
Very nice Greek salad with grilled chicken too. I can't wait to return!

First time eating at the South Star Diner. The food was excellent. Had the prime rib. Our server Lena was fantastic. The atmosphere oozed a " family diner", as everyone was extremely friendly! Will be returning in the near future!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

My girlfriend suggested south star diner and at first I declined but we were limited on time. After eat there it changed my whole opinion on the diner. Food was great, service was awesome, I really don’t have any complaints. If you have the opportunity I suggest to check out south star. I’m used to the previous diner, holly brook diner. The difference is night and day. I can’t speak on the lunch or dinner but the breakfast was bomb.

Very happy with the remodel, everything is new and clean, normal diner food on the menu. Our waitress was Samantha and she was delightful. 100% will ask to sit in her section next time (and you should also). The house salad (picture) was very good, we were happy to see mixed greens, not just iceberg lettuce. Also had green peppers and radish. Very yummy.
Constructive criticism next:
My home fries were room temperature (but my sausages and cheese omelet were very good). My husband's burger was well done when he asked for medium rare. Overall we will be back. Keep up the good work South Star dinner.

Love the place. It’s conveniently located at a major artery and it has plenty of parking space.
The food is great and you will have to take some of it out because of the abundance. They have an excellent chef the dishes are very well crafted and presented; the variety is wide and there’s always a dish for each palate, let me add that you get a big bang for your buck. The crew is very friendly and treat you as family.
Love their Seafood Montecarlo. The style resembles that in Europe.

HOLY COW! This place is a hidden gem! The large, thick menu was a bit intimidating, but everything we ate was fresh, beautiful, and MASSIVE. I am beyond impress with the food here. I love how clean the restaurant is. Truly, 10/10 recommend.

It's a diner. The service is great. The food is delicious, and the portions are plentiful. As far as atmosphere, it's got big windows but kind of cozy, as the seating is limited. There's not a bad seat in the house.

Great food and lots of it! Chicken Parm meal with spaghetti and the Bruschetta appetizer. Yum!

The Goulash was amazing. We had our Motorcycle club meeting there. Everyone raved about the food and large portions. Yummy!😻

This is a throwback neighborhood diner. I'm glad they're in our community.
They have the classic foods you would expect along with unexpected specials. The French Onion soup is phenomenal - actually, many of their soups are.
Whether you like breakfast, burgers, salads or steaks - South Star has you covered.
Service is friendly and prices are fair. Mr.Kevin and his staff are a welcome addition to the food scene in this area.
Just make sure you check the board in the lobby for the dinner specials.
