Under the Pier

A classic dock-side, seafood shop. While not actually "under a pier" and not really all that close to the sea, this unassuming, under-the-radar joint has some of the best seafood around. We had Softshell crab 🦀 (fried), lobster tails 🦞 , fried breaded butterflied shrimp 🦐, hush puppies 😋 , and the deep-fried-battered broccoli 🥦 bites (gotta get the veggies 😉 ). All served on paper table cover with paper plates and metal silverware. Classic.
Bottled beer and a selection of house cocktails. Menu includes lots of goodies broiled, fried, steamed - we'll be back to try the flounder, tilapia, crabs, shrimp, scallops, chowder, and crab cakes (as long as we didn't stuff ourselves on the fried softshell crabs!).
Staff were friendly, knowledgeable and pulling double duty in this one room hidden gem 💎.

I've been to New England many times in my life and every time I'm up there I have to have a good bowl of New England Clam Chowder. So. When I say, short of going to New England, Under the Pier is the best place to have NE Chowder. All the seafood here is unbelievably fantastic. Don't let the ambience of the restaurant deter you. Matter of fact, that's the charm of this wonderful place to dine in. The only time you might have to wait for a table is a Friday night during lent. But if you do have to wait, it is totally worth it. If you are looking for a place for a great seafood dinner, Under the Pier is it. Try the Broiled Stuffed Cod. So yummy.

We have done takeout many times but haven’t eaten in the restaurant in a few years. We finally got back this weekend and it was delicious as always! The place isn’t very fancy, but the waitress is super nice and the food never disappoints. Their shrimp and their scallops are amazing, but today I got there old English fish and chips. The beer batter is what makes it. Delicious! It is one of the best seafood places in the area. We did forget that it was cash only. Luckily they have an ATM on property. However if you want to avoid paying the service charge on the ATM, try to remember to bring cash with you.

Great little seafood place! Very large portions and good fresh made fish. Been coming here for 50 years and it's always worth the trip.

I’ve been coming here for as long as I can remember. One thing is for sure, the place never changes. Friendly staff, excellent food, no fuss. Just took my dad here tonight for his birthday and they didn’t disappoint, even on a very busy Friday night.

First time back in 3 years the food was great I had dungous crab I loved it. The oysters steamed ate the best here that we have tried in the area. It definitely a must try if you have never eaten here.

I would describe the food that comes here as high quality wholesome seafood. They aren’t trying to be extra with anything and just want to serve good meals. Everything I’ve had from here has been consistently great. I would recommend the shrimp or stuffed flounder!!

I always get a good meal at the Pier. I feel very comfortable there. The service is always on spot.

My husband has driven by this restaurant on his way places. Told me about it and looked at the reviews and then the menu. Today we went there for dinner. It was very good. Prices were amazing. My husband got broiled stuffed flounder, my son and I split two platters, Ame Chips and a Cheeseburger. I wanted to safe since I am not big on seafood. We definitely will be back. No burger will be needed. Next time I will get the Garlic parmesan tilapia. We will be back.

Best seafood, best Manhattan clam chowder. I hope they bring their sea chips back. I had the boiled stuffed flounder great 👍 Wonderful friendly waitress.

I grew up along the New England coast and for a long time wasn't happy with most of the local seafood places we went to.
We found this Jem about 20 years ago & are So Glad We Did! It didn't look like much from the outside, but to me that means if the food's good, the place doesn't have to look fancy ;-)
Their hand prepared food is always fresh and I know their fry oil is changed quite frequently, so their fried foods always come out golden!
My personal fav is their Old English Fish & Chips, complete with batter drizzles, just like when I was in England! My wife usually gets the crab cake. My buddy typically gets steamed crab legs - at least a pound at a time!
We've never had a bad dish & Highly Recommend Under the Pier!! :-)

Great food at great prices! Our server, Ashley, was one of the best we've ever had in a restaurant. Very attentive and accommodating. We'll be coming here more often.

Excellent 👍👍👍👍👍 this place is underrated it's adorable.. the food was better than excellent... I will be going back there at least a couple times a month even if it's for takeout... And Lori the waitress was so nice I felt like I was in somebody's house... I didn't feel like I was in a restaurant everybody was so friendly... I went back a second time this week with a friend of mine, he was absolutely surprised at how good the food is...and our server ,Carol... I can't remember her name can you believe this we had her both times I'm going back this week

Food was great. Server was kind of new ( I think), but she was extremely friendly and efficient and treated us as if she was glad that we were there!! Some may not like the atmosphere, but we enjoy it. I prefer good service to a fancy $2 table cloth!!

Had the fried class and they were delicious. Service was good staff was friendly.

If you are looking for old-school, you found it. There is nothing older school than this place. I mean that affectionately.
