Great neighborhood hardware store. Loads to see when browsing around while being efficiently arranged for a quick in and out when that is what is required! The team is friendly and informative... oh, and the prices are good too!

Old time hardware store. Family owned for generations. Many times, they have what the big box stores don't.

This is an absolutely wonderful hardware store. They have everything you need and the staff are just awesome. They also have a showroom for gas fireplaces. I am really pleased that I got mine through Schwerings, and particularly their guy Kyle. He’s friendly, helpful, and always follows through. He did a lot to make sure that the factory’s products were up to his standard before he gave them to me. There were some issues with light damage to the product, but Kyle made it his business to go back to the manufacturer and demand a remedy. I never needed to get involved.

Best of all, I feel incredibly confident knowing that the gas fireplace I took home, the one my family will use for a generation, was thoroughly tested by Kyle on his workbench in Palmyra.

Sorry for the long story, but hopefully you got a sense of how special this store and these guys are. Schwerings is great for all your basic hardware needs and if you’re looking for a gas fireplace, you’re a fool to go anywhere else.

Always go there first if they don't have it then off to the box stores. They have so many things you can't get at home Depot or Lowe's especially if you are working on an old house. Staff is wonderful 👍

6 STARS! Yes I'm creating an extra star because this place deserves it. You walk in and immediately get a refreshing dose of nostalgia. Then you ask one of the very friendly and extremely knowledgeable folks who work there what you're looking for and they take you right to where it is (unlike the big box stores who just say, "uhhh isle 7"). Steve, the owner, has done an amazing job stocking his shelves with high quality, affordable items. He's also extremely knowledgeable and won't hesitate to walk you through any sort of repair or project you may be working on. They also offer great services such as lamp repair, screen repair and tool/kitchen utensil sharpening.

This place is what Hardware stores should be!

If they had 6-Stars, Schwering's would get my vote! Great hardware store with exceptional service. Steve and his staff are very informative and attentive. I purchased a fireplace from them and had a warranty issue with the devise about 1.5yrs. later. Schwering's went to bat for us and helped us get what we needed and followed up later to make sure all was working. I highly recommend this one-of-a- kind hardware store.

Old time hardware store in a small town with loads of character & friendly staff. They can order whatever you need, prices are competitive, although short on the lumber selection, go to Lowes for that. Open 6 days, full of surprising extras, scented candles, some kids toys & a cool selection of fireplaces for sale. I get my firewood from them. A+

I always have keys cut at Schwerings because they always, with only one exception, work. They have everything you could ever want from a hardware store, and the employees know every item they have, and always treat customers with courteous, knowledgeable, and professional patience. One of my favorite small businesses!

The best hardware store in NJ! VERY personable, knowledgeable and helpful owners and staff. Terrific selection of items, especially hard to find ones. Showed up with a cherished hanging light today and they were not only able to fix it, but did it while I was there! They don't come any finer than Schwering's! AAA+++!!!

I always end up going to this place whenever I need small, simple things for random repairs around the house. It feels a lot better than going to Lowe's. The staff is very knowledgeable and will always ask what you're working on and offer up any help if you need it.

This place has been around for close to 70 some years and it's a mom and pop store and still hear and they have Everything not like your Box Store they are very helpful if they had room for More Star's I would have hit on more so I will give this place 10 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 STAR'S

Forget the "big" hardware stores. Schwerings is where you need to go for a couple of reasons. First, your supporting a local family owned business. The money you spend there stays in our community as opposed to the big corporate companies. Second, the people there are extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of home improvement. And finally they care about their customers. We just bought a Weber grill from them today. We asked Steve how much the delivery and assembly fee would be and his answer was zero because we had purchased grills from them before. Try getting that service from the other "big" hardware stores. Not going to happen. I love this store and how they treat the customers.

I was there for some plumbing parts for my sump pump drain, heavy pvc pipe fittings that i could not get at Lowe's or Home Depot anymore. Like always, i explained what i needed and they found it "out back" or maybe "upstairs", had exactly what i wanted.
If you do not see what you need ALWAYS ASK.

More than a hardware store, I always enjoy visiting Schwering's! I only needed a key cut, but was treated like an important customer. Everyone working greeted me with a smile. Trust me, even if you don't need anything, stop in and look around, you will probably find something that you want.

Love to support locally run businesses. Helpful staff and great to find some hard to locate items. A little more pricey than the big box stores, but worth it.

I've been going about 20 yrs and they stay abreast of the time with stocks and inventory. The staff are ALWAYS courteous and professional. The best part getting a needed part without a long drive to a big box store.
