Washington Avenue Green

Washington Avenue Green is a picturesque park located at 1301 S Columbus Blvd in Philadelphia, PA. It’s a place where nature and urban design harmoniously intertwine, offering a tranquil escape amidst the city’s hustle and bustle. The park has a rich history and is part of the larger effort to revitalize the Central Delaware Waterfront. It’s designed to be more natural than stylized, with native plants that help manage rainwater and provide a habitat for local wildlife. The park also serves as a historical site, commemorating the immigrants who arrived at Pier 53 from 1876 to the 1920s. With a palette that changes with the seasons, Washington Avenue Green is a vibrant community space that celebrates both the ecological and cultural heritage of Philadelphia.

Very scenic 1 mile stroll on a level paved path overlooking the Delaware River. Start at Washington Ave Pier and end at Pier 68 and you'll see cormorants hunting for fish by the pier. You'll pass a community garden and"abandoned piers" with people fishing or hanging out. It's family -friendly, dog-friendly, and is a popular biking and jogging trail. Come in the fall and see thousands of black-eyed susans for the last 1/3 of a mile. One of our favorite trails year-round, with free parking in the Columbus Blvd lot across the street.

I consider this my secret spot. Such a great place to go at sunset. For the most part it's very peaceful and never crowded.

A quiet place tucked away from the city. Many trees and plants, decent views from the tower. I enjoy going at dusk to watch the birds and bats fly around.

Built into the timber ruins of Pier 53, once site of the Immigration Station, the point of entry for countless European migrants, Washington Avenue Pier is a wild ecological park with boardwalk overlooks, river access, native plantings and Jodie Pinto's Landbuoy-- a piece of climable sculpture with a rewarding view.

Clean and beautiful in the summer tons of flowers and bees so stay calm go slow and enjoy.

One of my favorite places in South Philly to go and just relax surrounded by "mama nature" beautiful trail to walk, run or bike. The olace looks so clean and it has an amazing view of the Delaware river

The Washington Avenue Green is a trail that runs along the Delaware River. It’s still being built and improved so every time I go here there’s something new to check out. I love watching it expand and evolve as time goes on and I can’t wait to see what it becomes as the city continues to build and improve it!

Such a fun place for watching the boats go by, a lite walk, or a workout!

Went here for a field trip and I really liked this escape from the city and university life a lot more that I ended up coming back again one day to enjoy this place once more. Places like these made me appreciate some of the finer things in this city that are often overlooked.

Absolute paradise. It’s amazing that the city put forth this conservation effort. And advice to younger women, try not to travel here alone there are a few homeless hear from time to time. I don’t feel unsafe but you never know

I have grown up here so it easy to say that it's a cool space to enjoy, especially with the doggos

this place is incredible the way it's built it's just a simple little Park but perfectly placed right on the Delaware River and a spiral Tower is incredible I just wish it went higher Kona my dog climbed it by herself we hang out their point office we also sneak in late night which is the best time with no one there

Love this hideaway place. Part of a restoration project, so it's full of native plants. This is a beautiful spot of nature tucked into the city.
